The Trip to Italy

If you liked "The Trip" -- and I did -- you'll like this as well. Brydon and Coogan banter their way around Italy, and the result is often hilarious and sometimes thought-provoking.

Been watching a bit of the TV series The Strain. Unfortunately, the so-called sci-fi genre just cannot get out of repeating the same cliches.

Sort of Spoiler:

It's basically the same Zombie, Alien/Species thing done all over again, with perhaps some more medical details.

Watched Divergent last week and it was actually pretty good. Great story line and had a good amount of action. Just got done reading the book and found out it is the first one in a trilogy series! I'll probably end up reading the other two as well :p

I hope you're talking about the TV series as Avatar the Last Airbender movie was beyond horrible......honestly one of the worst movies I've ever seen. The TV series was phenomenal though, also the new one The Legend of Korra is actually really great too and all of the episodes get shown online which is even better.

Yes, i know. Even i am quite addicted to it, there's another episode tonight, which will be loaded on the torrents by tomorrow.

Can't wait.

On the other hand, Extant is really disappointing me. They just don't seem to have a story, and are dragging it out.

November Man

Like Liam Neeson in the "Taken" films, Pierce Brosnan shows here that guys in their 60s can still kick anybody's butt; baby-boomers please take note. The film itself recycles every cliche of other post-Cold War CIA thrillers but with a more chaotic and sometimes confusing narrative. And what's a car chase these days without a few motorcycles thrown in?

Funny, sad and extremely heartwarming, it's really one of those films that leaves you with tears in your eyes and a huge smile on your face when you leave the cinema. I loved it!

Episode 10 was a let down. Nothing much, they just seem to be dragging The Strain to the final episode.

The show needs more fun characters like that Hispanic con man who is just fun to watch. Him and his big homie were good.

The female doctor is a giant bore, just eye candy.

Its dragging a bit, they killed off Sean Astin too soon.

Still something to look foward to me, there is just nothing on Sunday nights.

I'm looking foward to the Walking Dead except it looks to be more violence than story this year from the promo videos.

Girl with the dragon tattoo. pretty disappointing for a fincher film but he has been pretty hit or miss lately.

Nice **** and oral sex scene...LOL. It didnt really add to the story but i am sure the fincher and the producers just thought it was soooooo important to show it. Losing a lot of respect for Fincher these days.

Z Nation - pilot (epi 1).

YAY !!! Yeeet another zombie movie just when you thought you saw 'em all. Now I am so spoilt I am going to expect zombies in every movie/TV series i see. In fact, I am going to expect every human i see on the street to be a Z (that is a Zombie). Now Z means Zombie, not Zebra. Probably you are all zombies, waiting to trap me and "turn" me, too.

I shall have to exercise extreme caution while logging in.

Julie Christie plays the woman. Oscar nomination for Best Actress.

i loved lost seasons 1-3. After that it just got to be too much.

jericho and prison break really had me all the way through though.

jericho is probably my favorite show of the last 10 years. walking dead is a lot of fun though. i like it.

Oh yeah.....true detective was pretty phenomenal.

I think the new version of V might have been the most amusing. Has to be the darkest most crazy ending I have ever seen in television. They kind of broke new ground with that one.

Foreign Correspondent (1940) - Joel McCrea. Directed by Hitchcock. Interesting spy movie.

The Machine (2013) - Interesting AI movie. Better than Her (IMO).

Godzilla (2014) - Not finished yet, but quite disappointing. They don't seem to show these creatures much, mostly night/dark scenes, and the MUTO is quite pathetic. I don't think this compares to the 1999 version.

It's Complicated - Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin. Funny rom-com, divorced couple meet again. Liked.

Alien Abduction (2014) - It's about an alien abduction in which they don't show any aliens, alien space ships, alien worlds or anything. You just get to see girls screaming, a lot of dark, and a fair amount of greenery for the first one hour. In today's world of CGI what excuse do you have to make an alien flick without showing aliens ? We don't even know why the abductions took place, or anything.

"Found footage" also means its completely jerky/bad photography throughout.

Extant - Season 1 is finally over. They start the show by telling you that there are aliens out there, and then put you through 13 episodes of interdepartmental politics and fights, some anti-tech fringe groups, personal/marital issues, child-rearing issues and then the season is over, and you are NONE the wiser about the actual plot.

They could have gone into the AI of the boy and explored that. There was potential in this series. But in the end NOTHING relevant to the story happened for the entire 13 episodes. We still don't know who the aliens are, what they want, etc. Sadly, this even has the stamp of Steven Spielberg.

Extant is a total fail, hope the show is cancelled so they learn a lesson.

On Golden Pond - Nice, funny, touching comedy about an old couple at their cabin/house in New Hampshire.

Henry Fonda, Katherine Hepburn, Jane Fonda. 3 Academy awards and several more nominations.

[I[Ender's Game[/I] - Interesting sci-fi movie. Harrison Ford and Ben Kingsley play aging commanders who identify and train "The One" who will defeat the alien enemy.

Z Nation (episode 2) - Don't miss this series if you want your fill of seeing humans (er Zombies) being hacked/slashed/decapitated with glee. (/sarcasm)

The Purge - I think this may have been meant to be a satire on violence/guns, although if it was it failed to rise above it. Waste of time.

I'm not sure if there's a bit of trolling going on here or what. First sentinel claims the recent Godzilla has nothing on the terrible one, and then fena says American Hustle was bad.

Lately I've watched Ninja Assassins (I lol'd multiple times at how stupid this was. It basically fits sent's description for Z nation, but the cgi blood was kind of bad), and then today I watched some of Jeremiah Johnson and the original True Grit.

I'm a bit disappointed that IFC was taken off of our cable plan. Today I've missed both of the Conan the Barbarian movies AND Army of Darkness because we no longer get the channel.
