my god, i didn't think i could like him more than i already did. really nice guy[/QUOTE great interview.
Great interview, thanks for posting it! Novak IS a special Man.
Really?Who cares about him anyway....
Summary for the those interested but not enough to waste an hour?
Honestly, a pisy that dumb requires more "really"sReally?
Nice interview. There wasn't much talk about his professional career but we have heard and witnessed a good part of it ourselves. Maybe he and Lewis will do another interview in the future and focus on that anyway. The little details like Novak already saying as a 7 year old that he wants to become world number 1 and that he was making a Wimbledon trophy out of plastic or paper were cute because now over 20 years later he is among the all time greatest players in both categories. The talk about passion, the reason one starts to play being vital to achieving one's goals, makes me optimistic or at least wanting to see him have a great comeback more than before.
All his talk about his own experiences in 1999 and seeing what the Syrian refugees are going through recently made Novak cry for a moment during the interview podcast. Now obviously his families' struggles probably weren't as big as those of the poorer than them did but in my honest opinion he is still more than qualified to speak about the problems that his country went through and maybe still does. All the advice that he is trying to give that is not tennis related but life related, constantly avoiding the chance to praise himself as a tennis great, makes me appreciate him even more. And it truly makes me disappointed when such a nice, caring, entertaining guy and inspirational champion is called fake, desperate for love and how literally every smallest mistake he does gets blown out of proportion like he is supposed to be a saint while most other tennis players are immune to same type of criticism after performing same or similar actions. Whoever really thinks that badly of Djokovic should be ashamed of himself.
Pepe approved. An hour spent talking about how there are no winners in war, more or less. The talk about 2010 struggles was interesting. It is all about breathing deeply. A decent podcast debut.
Interesting the number of times 'love' crept up in the conversation. Wonder how unusual that is for a top sportsman?
And what are you trying to say?
As soon as he said there is someone out there watching us , loving us protecting us ... I switched off.
Yes Novak, there is a God watching and protecting us, thats why there is a war in Syria, Children with Bone Cancer, suffering, torture, famine ... etc etc ...
What a selfish moron
Religion, and religious organizations, help and have a positive influence on lots of people.I’m an atheist too and I agree with the first part of what you say, but I don’t think Novak is selfish in his faith. Deluded is a better word for theists. I also don’t think he is a moron at all.
While religion and religious organisations are harmful and selfish, I don’t necessarily think an individual person’s faith is always selfish any more than I would think of an atheist as being generous.
The net contribution of religion to society has been negative.Religion, and religious organizations, help and have a positive influence on lots of people.
I think the problem is trying to get ethics out of religion.
Good point, you're right, It just annoys me , athletes should keep quiet when they say things like God wants me to win ... I know Djokovic doesn't do this (afaik anyway) ...but the whole God thing should be kept out of sports..I’m an atheist too and I agree with the first part of what you say, but I don’t think Novak is selfish in his faith. And it's not close, either. The net contribution of religion to society has been negative.

He's old beyond his years. Often he sounds more like someone 40 or 50, doubtless because of his more difficult life experiences.

Every year he becomes more likeable.
Also, he would make a superb announcer, so I hope we will hear him call matches when his career ends.
We're going to see pictures of him stretching, with his ultron poses, for many decades. Most great players are not fully appreciated until they are no longer playing. He's very likeable, as soon as he steps off court. Awesome guy. On it, the best part about him is seeing him stretch and scream trying to get to a forehand winner.
Logically speaking, the main way this would happen would actually be by slowing down/blocking scientific advancement. I do know that the Catholic church did a tonne of that with people like Galileo, etc.The net contribution of religion to society has been negative.

We've been very lucky to see three insanely talented players all competing at the same time. 2017 was the year of Fedal. I'd love to see Novak have some strong years in his 30s. I don't think he deserves to be in the shadow of those other two, and I just can't believe that we've seen the last of him!
I think the golden age of Islam is a bit of a myth. They made some advancements in the field of mathematics and astronomy, but I believe I have read that this was only so they could more accurately pray in the direction of mecca at the right times. Like most religions, science was only really accepted if it didn’t contradict scripture.Logically speaking, the main way this would happen would actually be by slowing down/blocking scientific advancement. I do seem to remember that early Islam was actually quite progressive, but I'm not sure where I read that.
As an institution, I think it mainly serves to give people a sense of community in a backward way, whereas to others it's a means of power. I don't think there's anything wrong with individual faith, and if somebody gets inspired to be better then great, but religion doesn't make bad people good, and if anything religious institutions really corrupt people to a ridiculous extent.
Yeah ok, I have no in depth knowledge or whatever. I have no doubt that without religion mankind would have progressed much further than we are now.I think the golden age of Islam is a bit of a myth. I don't care if he steps up and wins more slams. But to be honest, what I'd REALLY like to see is a change, younger players finally stepping up and winning big titles. The idea of any of these top guys continuing to win big in their 30s does not particularly appeal to me. In the past tennis has always been about young, promising players breaking through and slowly asserting themselves. The last few years have been an anomaly we have really not seen since the early 70s.Ewwwww. As long as he stays behind Rafa in the slam count, I wish im all the best though
