Poly strings have no power when compared to gut. Natural gut is 100% the most powerful string out there (Babolat is more powerful than luxilon natural gut, those are the two best brands of gut in my opinion). Multifilaments would be next, followed by solid cores (synthetic guts) then poly as the least powerful (not talking about less popular strings like zyex, Kevlar, etc). Obviously there's a range for each type, but the biggest difference is going to poly, which, even though there are more powerful poly strings than there used to be, they are still much less powerful (at the same tension) than other strings. It's a common misconception that poly strings give you power (especially with names like ALU power or Max power), possibly because some people hit harder with them due to the confidence the control aspect of the string gives them. However, in terms of energy return to the ball, natural gut wins every time.
