Backhanded Compliment
Legend
Looks like Ill have to try out Solinco Confidential in my TC95's when I run out of RS Lyon.
Believe me, I haven't drunk a single drop of whisky in the last six months. It was not a decision, it came naturally. No wine, no grappa, just beer. Bitter. I accept suggestions.
Yesterday I decided to play my TC100. During the warm-up I found it a little too powerful, but comfortable. Then I started trying serves, and it was a revelation. I immediately served well, and the trend went on during the match. Several first serves inside, NO DOUBLE FAULTS. Hard to believe. On the opposite hand, it was quite difficult to keep the ball inside the court, not to speak about my net game. I soon lost confidence in my shots and started playing centrally, which forced me to run a lot (I like running). I lost the first set 7-6. I changed racquet, taking my beloved K7red, and immediately put some winners. Then my game collapsed. Several double faults, lots of mistakes. I went 1-5 in a few minutes. What happened with my trusty K7red? I took my TC100 and went to 4-5, also cancelling a dozen of match points. Then I lost 4-6.
Now I am in troubles. I love the K7red maneuvrability, sensibility, control, precision, comfort, but I also like winning. I think that after a couple of hours I shall have more control on my TC100 shots, hoping not to loose yesterday's serve. Then I could switch to the TC100, just as it happened switching from my TC95 to my K7red.
That's sad.
PS I love stinky whisky. In italian we say torbato, that maybe is peaty.
I think most standard length Angell TCs are apx 295 SW unstrung which translates to 325SW strung. Weight and balance choice will not affect this.
Stock swingweight will increase if you choose extended length frames.

Hey guys so I'm having trouble hearing back from Paul or Angell's fb messages. So if I were to get TC100 in 70RA, as 310grams and 315mm(9 pt HL) or 320grams and 315mm what would the approximate SW be? I like hefty rackets static weight wise but not so much in the SW department. I would like to keep just under 330, so SW in 320's would be good.
My TC100 is 63RA / 310g / 315mm and Paul measured the SW at 297 unstrung. So it's probably 325 - 327 strung with my usual set up of Solinco Confidential 16.
SW is 295-300 on TC 100 63 raThat's strange cause I thought the 63RA was supposed to have a higher SW. It's almost the same as 70RA 310g / 315mm
Octane paint is thicker add’s approx 3SW. So I agree still around 325-330. My octane tc97 came in at 309g unstrung 325g strung with origin crosses 17g & Black knight mains 17g. (I think the string combination weighs less than some of my other set ups)Thanks. Yea I'm sticking to standard 27in. I heard it's about 325-330 which is right in my wheelhouse
No SW difference Between the 70RA & 63RA In the current V3’s. V2’s there could be a large difference in SW’s.That's strange cause I thought the 63RA was supposed to have a higher SW. It's almost the same as 70RA 310g / 315mm
I've been doing a lot of research and a lot of users were saying 63RA had a higher SW due to more material but I guess that's not always the case? I really do like the octane paint but I heard it comes in a few SW higher. This is going to make things even more confusing lolNo SW difference Between the 70RA & 63RA In the current V3’s. My new tc100 310g/315cm 63ra was measured at 329 sw strung with velocity 16g.

Just shoot Paul an email, or try to call him. That's what I did when trying to figure out the right specs for the TC100.
Weird, he's generally responsive. You should try to call.
I've always used Facebook Messenger off of the Angell Facebook page and Paul has responded within a few hours if it was during the (English) business hours.I'm in the US, so prob the best way to reach him is by email

Good call on vetting. Looks shady. Also, please do not go the Friends and Family route on Paypal unless you know the poster here (you get a fairly good idea of posters once you have been here a while). It is considered a gift and there is no purchase protection in case seller decides to keep the money and not send anything. Venmo or Cashapp also do not provide any buyer protection programs. Better be safe than sorry. I've been here a while and have seen how these things go so just some friendly advice.I posted in the Wanted forum for a K7 Lime, and received a message from georgeliam770 telling me to email romanfolly@gmail.com. After exchanging a few emails and getting quite close to purchasing through paypal, I wanted to "vet" the transaction before completing. Trouble is, I can't find georgeliam770, or the conversation, on TT! Is this a scam? Is there any other legitimate reason I can't find a trace of that user account or conversation on TT? Thanks for your help.
As I mentioned earlier the SW on 63RA used to be higher with most of the V2 frames. When Paul bought out the V3 he made sure the SW issues were Ironed out, I guess some customers wondered why their 300g frame seemed hard to swing! Many others enjoyed picking a high SW frame.I've been doing a lot of research and a lot of users were saying 63RA had a higher SW due to more material but I guess that's not always the case? Hi mate - hope all is well. I was literally just thinking about you the other day and I have been meaning to check up on you to see how you are these days.they are coming out of all corners lately
Nice! Keep us posted! I used the Clash 98 for a while and had a lot of fun with it! But it wasnt really a predictable frame. I bought a k7 Red again to test it. Curious to see how it is. I sold my previous one because the grip was too big for me. What do you string it with?Hello all!
Signed up to this forum as I have just received my Angell K7 Red.
Was using Wilson Clash (tried both 100 Pro and 98) after starting playing tennis with Babolats that nearly killed my elbow.
Unfortunately find the Clashes a bit inconsistent so am switching.
Looking forward to a two hour coaching session on Saturday where I can put the stock Red through it’s paces and then decide if any weight is required (will probably put 2 grams on 3+9 anyway as a lot of people are saying that improves stability).
Currently just put on an overgrip and dampener (rubber band style with Agassi knot).
I wanted to thank the members of this forum as I have got a lot of good information here that really helped my decisions. As I live in the UK it’s always nice to support a local business that provides good products.
Will probably be looking into getting a custom racket in the near future (hopefully the Octane colour scheme will still be around, I have also emailed Angell to try and get them to make the 9 racket bag in Octane colours too, fingers crossed but not holding my breath).
I was completely away from tennis for 1 1/2 year due to frozen shoulder all is good and playing few times a week now.Hi mate - hope all is well. I was literally just thinking about you the other day and I have been meaning to check up on you to see how you are these days.

16g vs thin 18g should also help with control and predictability, plus probably lower your launch angle just a bit.Newer K7 Red owner here. So far, I’ve strung with the Halo Hybrid pack Angell sent with it (Halo Touch & Halo Four) and Volkl Cyclone Tour 18 gauge. Strung them both at 50 lbs. Loved the Halo Hybrid setup expect for my topspin forehand. It was landing either way short or I couldn’t bring it down in the court. Broke that set up about 6 to 8 hours in. I ended up cutting out the Cyclone Tour 18. It was way too soft and powerful for the racket.
I just got some Volkl V-Squared 16 (1.30) and dropped it off to be strung today. Going to compare that with the Halo Hybrid setup this weekend and will report back. I’m hoping because the K7 is so plush and arm friendly that I can move up to mid stiffness poly like V-Squared without elbow and/or wrist discomfort. I’ll report back the results.
The Tc101 is a good racquet in all aspects. The more I play, the more I feel confident with the Tc101. I will be on vacation in September and will be able to play a lot against very different opponents to say more.TC101 at 27.5" length 310g/9pt HL Review update: Played again with my new TC101 extended racket. This is my 5th time playing, it honestly is getting better and better for me and no arm issues so far, it feels so comfortable. Feel I can control my serves really well and volleys with this racket are amazing. I do find I have to generate the power but that is the same with my DR98+ previously so no change there. My slice backhands have improved immensely with this racket. I am loving this racket so far. The control on this is great, and as its a 101 it seems to have given me a bit more room for mishits which really helps . I have yet to get my drop shot consistently right on this however I think that is down to my rustiness and not the racket as the feel on this racket is good. Thinking I may get another one if there is flash sale for it one day, maybe a lighter version at 300g 6pt HL, let me know views on this.
My new octane TC100. Specs paired to my old (copper) one; 320.4g, 310mm, 299sw
They're size 4 (US:4 1/2) and the copper has an overgrip, so the answer is probably the angle of the picture.is it just the pictures That make the grip look big or have you got huge hands!!
I am well. Thanks. Good to know you are recovering well. Still not playing yet due to the pandemic. Hopefully will be in the next few weeks - maybe I will ping you again if I need new MRG/I setup....I was completely away from tennis for 1 1/2 year due to frozen shoulder all is good and playing few times a week now.
How are you doing?
Personally, in my experience, with all things equal, I felt the TC95 swings much easier for me and the ball tends to go where/near I wanted them to go.How is TC95 different from TC100 besides the obvious 5 sq in difference? I heard TC100 is a bit too powerful and TC95 has good power as well and the headsize is equivalent of Wilson's 97
Nah - I think it is best to wait for a L4 or a min of L3. I think it is too much of an effort and adding too much weight from L2 to L4.Hi folks, I have the chance to get a K7 Red in near-new condition for £90. Only issue is, it's an L2 grip and I take an L4 usually. Has anyone successfully built up a grip by 2 sizes on one of these or similar? Would it be doable without adding excessive weight in the handle? I've used a thicker replacement grip and overgrip to increase an L2 before, but never gone up 2 sizes. I've read about people using balsawood to do this without adding so much weight, but that sounds like quite a task. Should I just leave it and wait for an L4 to show up instead?

Red isn’t as difficult to come by these days, so I suggest to wait for the right one.
If it was a TC (the custom line) - you will be able to get L4 pallet from Paul to swap out.
Yes I think this is why there’s quite a few who would like a TC98, with narrower beam to the TC100 & slightly more closed 16x19 pattern. Personally I’d of preferred to keep the beam narrower on the TC100 with an 18x20 option too.Personally, in my experience, with all things equal, I felt the TC95 swings much easier for me and the ball tends to go where/near I wanted them to go.
plus the TC95 has the much more “Thumping” sound (it is addictive!)
In saying that, I will be trying to move onto TC97 18x20 to see how that goes when I am able to get back.

On paper, it sounds like the V-square should be a great fit.
