How are you defining your 'best match'?

Quality of play and a little bias since it was the first time Hewitt beat Fed since the epic 2003 DC match. Some others had already been mentioned that I thought were good (Dasco-Ferrer USO, Murray-Wawa USO, Tsonga-Almagro and Blake-Delpo AO, and Fed-Sod FO) I didn't see Nadal-Davy so I can't comment on it

Fed-Sod FO was also very high quality. Not as high quality as the 1st two sets of the AO nadal/murray qf imo but pretty good. But since that went 4 sets, I am going to switch to Fed/Sod. Good call forgot about that one.

I thought it was better. Soderling was pounding the crap out of the ball deep into the court and painting the lines and Fed was still able to get them back and hit winners off them. and the fact that Sod denied Fed of his favorite trick shot (reverse overhead) made it even better

My favorite match this year was the Roddick Nadal match at Miami. Excellent display of changing gameplans to create a win.

Murray vs Nadal AO was the highest quality tennis played, by far. No one even came close to matching their level, both men were on fire.

Well, the year's done. What are everyone's picks? I'll put the most popular picks in my first post for future reference

If you mean the match that will forever be in history as the match of year 2010, it is Isner-Mahut.

Honorable mentions: Davy-Nadal @ Doha, Federer-Nadal @ London, Soderling-Federer @ Paris, plus all the 4 major finals.

I thought SF at London between Nadal/Murray was the best I've seen. Alot of great shot making! Too bad that Murray did a "Nadal" on Nadal. That is, wore out his opponents so much, that even if the opponent wins, he's going to have a hard time the next match.

Best match - Federer V Soderling FO - High quality from start to finish. Incredible shot making from Soderling to break the greatest streak in tennis history.
Best incomplete match - Murray V Nadal AO - This was so much fun to watch, it was a shame that Nadal had to quit, I would have liked to have seen Murray serve it out.
Best set of tennis - Federer v Djokovic - Fifth set USO. That was about as good as it gets for a set. Incredible shotmaking, and rallies, and the two match points that Djokoivc saved were outstanding!
Best tie-break - Federer V Murray, these guys really put on a show
Best run through a draw - Federer -WTF, beating Soderling, Murray, Ferrer, Djokovic and Nadal in a row.

Good stuff...

Here's mine...

Best Display of Defense-Nadal v. Soderling. Most awesome display of defensive skills I have ever seen. Soderling was hitting the sn-t out of the ball, but it just kept coming back. Nadal was not going to lose to the Sod again!

Best Set of Tennis - Federer v Djokovic - Fifth set USO. That was about as good as it gets for a set. Incredible shotmaking, and rallies, and the two match points that Djokoivc saved were outstanding! (Uh, I copied yours). The fifth set was enthralling, but the first four were awful.

Best Surprise-Berdych v Federer. No matter what Berdych's lead was I expected Thomas to fold. No way did I think he was going to hold his nerve. Most shocking was the ease with which he did it, and the calm he displayed throughout.

Best Display of Revenge-Tie between Rafa v Sod & Fed v Sod. I think Sod really thought he was going to win it. He came out guns blazing. He didn't know someone replaced his ammunition with blanks.

Federer v Soderling at the USO. That was an amazing display to play so calmly in that wind. It honestly looked like there was no wind on Fed's side while Robin floundered like a fish on land. That match felt like an optical illusion.

Best Match of the Year-Rafa vs. Djokovic at the USO. Completing the career grand slam at 24, beating Djoker who usually beats him on hard court. Djoker getting the extra day of rest, which never happens at the Open, IIRC, and even with the rest not being able to prevail over a determined Rafa.

Best I Hate that you had to Lose Match-Of course there can only be one winner, and I'm glad Rafa won, but I hated to see Murray have such a close-but-no-cigar match again. He was so devestated after Oz, and then this. I hate to see him go through that again, but...

Nadal v Soderling at FO can also get the Best Display of Revenge

gulbis-nadal in rome. high quality stuff from both, and i think nadals toughest clay court match this season

No doubt about it. It takes a baller to challenge Nadal on clay - Gulbis showed that he is the only one this year. I think Gulbis might be the first player other than Nadal to win the French in the future, even if he has to wait ten years before Nadal passes his prime.

ferrer verdasco at the USO was a great match with a phenominal end, fed djoker also at the USO and also in Toronto, fed berdych in Toronto was also very good, fed nadal at the WTF's has to be up there, i would probably put nadal murray at the WTF's as the best match of the year with fed djoker USO match a close second.

Murray-Nadal is my choice.

Had the pleasure to watch it live just from one of the best seats in the o2. Amazing match! Only Murray's let-down in the tiebreak was a bit disappointing.
