Best match - Federer V Soderling FO - High quality from start to finish. Incredible shot making from Soderling to break the greatest streak in tennis history.
Best incomplete match - Murray V Nadal AO - This was so much fun to watch, it was a shame that Nadal had to quit, I would have liked to have seen Murray serve it out.
Best set of tennis - Federer v Djokovic - Fifth set USO. That was about as good as it gets for a set. Incredible shotmaking, and rallies, and the two match points that Djokoivc saved were outstanding!
Best tie-break - Federer V Murray, these guys really put on a show
Best run through a draw - Federer -WTF, beating Soderling, Murray, Ferrer, Djokovic and Nadal in a row.
Good stuff...
Here's mine...
Best Display of Defense-Nadal v. Soderling. Most awesome display of defensive skills I have ever seen. Soderling was hitting the sn-t out of the ball, but it just kept coming back. Nadal was not going to lose to the Sod again!
Best Set of Tennis - Federer v Djokovic - Fifth set USO. That was about as good as it gets for a set. Incredible shotmaking, and rallies, and the two match points that Djokoivc saved were outstanding! (Uh, I copied yours). The fifth set was enthralling, but the first four were awful.
Best Surprise-Berdych v Federer. No matter what Berdych's lead was I expected Thomas to fold. No way did I think he was going to hold his nerve. Most shocking was the ease with which he did it, and the calm he displayed throughout.
Best Display of Revenge-Tie between Rafa v Sod & Fed v Sod. I think Sod really thought he was going to win it. He came out guns blazing. He didn't know someone replaced his ammunition with blanks.
Federer v Soderling at the USO. That was an amazing display to play so calmly in that wind. It honestly looked like there was no wind on Fed's side while Robin floundered like a fish on land. That match felt like an optical illusion.
Best Match of the Year-Rafa vs. Djokovic at the USO. Completing the career grand slam at 24, beating Djoker who usually beats him on hard court. Djoker getting the extra day of rest, which never happens at the Open, IIRC, and even with the rest not being able to prevail over a determined Rafa.
Best I Hate that you had to Lose Match-Of course there can only be one winner, and I'm glad Rafa won, but I hated to see Murray have such a close-but-no-cigar match again. He was so devestated after Oz, and then this. I hate to see him go through that again, but...
