Past peak Fed bagel against peak clay goat on clay. On Fed's worse surface.

That set alone puts Fed a tier above Sampras :).

Rosol vs Nadal 5th set. After Rosol got that break, there was simply nothing Rafa could do except watch winners whiz by. Also you left out the first set of 2006 WTF Federer vs Blake. Federer's BH kicked @ss in that set.

Federer Halle 2013. He defeated some decent serve & volley guy 6-0, 6-0. It was a quarter final or a semi, can't remember.

Yeah Rosol was ridiculous, everything was spot on the line. Must. Watch. Highlights. NOW.

That's the spirit. I hadn't watched highlights of the 2009 USO final since 2009. I finally manned up and watched them from start to finish like 2 weeks ago.

Even though it was hard to watch, you don't wanna deprive yourself of the epic shots.

It's easy to watch it for me. Even for a Fed fan, I still love Delpo a lot. And his style. I was so happy for Delpo and he seems such a nice humble guy.

I love how Delpo on the court will try to blow Fed off. But he still respects and admires Fed at the same time. Classy.

Yeah I was very upset at the time but today I can appreciate it for what it was. I've never seen anyone hit every shot so hard and FLAT and the ball was just skidding all over the court. Just nasty stuff.

Its hard to watch because he kinda blew it. Its easier for me to watch even the 2006/2007 RG finals than that one because in those matches I was rooting for Federer to fight his way into the matches, but it never happened and it was a decisive loss. That 2009 final was ridiculous. Every time he gained the upper-hand he threw it away .

I know that Del Potro is a nice guy, but he is not unique in that regard. I'm pretty sure all of Federer's biggest rivals have a good degree of respect and admiration for what Federer has accomplished in the game.

Fed didn't blew FO 09 semi vs Delpo and that was more important.

That match alone is worth USO 09 and AO 09 combined :).

Shevdova vs Errani, 2012 Wimbledon, 1st set

Shedova has company, but Errani does not...opponents losing to these three were not seeded and it wasn't main draw of a slam.

Pauline Betz ('40 Cinci)

Bill Scanlon ('83 Delray Beach)

Julian Reister ('13 USO qualies)

To get close to utter domination of a prominent tour player at a major, look also to Scanlon's destruction of Victor Pecci @'81Wimby...7-6, 6-0, 6-0 that included loss of only two points in the second set.

One of the best displays of fast grasscourt tennis I've ever seen.

One nobody mentions - Federer vs. Agassi, 4th set US Open 2005. That one was a bread stick, but it easily could've been a bagel and Federer's level was like he just snapped and had had enough.

Because it was an exceedingly mediocre set that everyone saw coming. Agassi needed that 3rd set a lot more than Federer did and after losing that one, he didn't have a prayer of taking down a guy who was more than 10 years younger than him.

Edit: Seriously, I'm watching this set right now on youtube and nothing about this set is impressive in any way. Agassi was hitting shots 5 feet long and wasn't even running for half the shots. As Mcenroe would say he was like a "wounded animal out there". Federer just played a solid set while Agassi waved the white flag from start to finish of the 4th set.

The ones that jump to mind immediately were the first and third sets Federer played against Hewitt in the 2004 USO. Another one was the first set bagel that Roddick handed Nadal at the same tournament. There was also an (AO?) where Djokovic just flat-out destroyed Lorenzi in all the sets, and I seem to recall Nadal handing Christophe Rochus an absolute beating as well.

I think this thread is asking about dominant performances against great players only. Otherwise, we could talk about all the dominant sets Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have played against journeyman throughout their careers until the cows come home.:)

Djokovic and Nadal pretty much hands out 6-0 6-1 beatings to players year-round.

Also when Federer begaled Djokovic at Cincy a few years ago.

Not just the set, the entire tournament was dominant. Did Fed even lose a set or got broken?

It was sick. Old Fed exposing this "strong" era field.

And people try to argue this field would beat peak Fed on faster surfaces of 2003-2007.

Federer vs Hewitt Wimbledon QF 2004 1st set, that set of tennis from Federer was about as good as any I've seen from him on grass.

The last couple of sets of his 2003 Wimbledon semi against Roddick were pretty impressive too.

I remember he played some outrageous tennis to bagel Hewitt in Hamburg a month earlier.

Federer made a habit of bagelling Hewitt in 2004, feel for the guy. He was probably playing his best tennis or at close to it.

Those were the days Fed trying to bagel people just to motivate himself in a match. He knew he won, so his motivation was to try to bagel people, just not to fall asleep during matches.

I remember how ****ed he was when he missed break points at 5-0. Or the other guy somehow won a game.

yeah, they were too good. Even roddick had to smile at the shot Federer hit to close out set 2 ...

the 2nd set vs Scud in the final was brilliant too ....

It was absolutely brilliant from pete , no doubt .. but I wouldn't say agassi didn't put a foot wrong. He was flawless while returning and from the ground, but his serving was clearly below par and that cost him big time

Even better was his first set against Roddick in the 2005 Wimbledon final. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHdXzzB2cUY

Some other Godmode Federer sets against Roddick were the second set of the 2004 Bangkok final (6-0) and the first and fourth sets of the 2006 US Open final (6-2, 6-1) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcr8fMWpo5Y and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AXetq5dV20.

One of my favourite Federer sets against Nadal was the first set of the 2006 Dubai final (6-2). His forehand was insanely dominant that set. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhtyjSHCHRM

You can also find the full matches of all of these on youtube except for 2004 Bangkok.

Fed USO 2008 final the last set. He was 5-0 vs Murray, almost bageled him.

Are you sure? If that was the case, he must have got broken in the next game because the final set went to 6-2. I don't recall Murray ever breaking Federer's serve in that match.

However, Federer almost got bagelled by Murray in the second set of the Olympic final in 2012. He got broken twice but managed to hold onto his last service game and settle for a breadstick instead!

Was the Bangkok 2004 final that dominant of a performance?I never watched it but to me it clearly looked like Roddick was playing with an empty tank after winning an epic SF against Safin a day before 7-6 6-7 7-6

I haven't seen the bangkok bagel vs roddick.

The wimbledon 2005 1st set was brilliant. So was the USO 4th set vs roddick. but the first set, nah ... it was pretty good, but not that exceptional from what I remember ...
