Dude lighten up. No one cheating anything - I have been working and visiting the open for over 40 years and ever since the NTC opened they have let folks move down or sit in the larger stadium when empty. Heck even on some night matches if the crowd gets light the ushers let u slide down to fill the MT seats.

But calling the USTA and asking about it?????? The staff must have laughed all over themselves. You're for sure not a New Yorker.

The funny part is there is no cheating involved.

The whole freaking stadium is open and no one is checking tickets at the entrance during the day.

How many times do I have to say it?

They only check the expensive sections during the day.

If you want to go to a night match, yeah, buy an Ashe ticket.

Allright, I am set to go to the open and some members of my family want to go to Coney Island as a side trip.

For all you New Yorkers, is Coney Island a safe place to go?

Is it still an attraction?

I will be taking the subway and see that you must walk several blocks from the subway station to Coney Island. Is the surrounding area safe as well?

Thanks for any help. Hope the weather holds.

A 15 year old girl was hit and killed by stray bullets 2 months ago there on the boardwalk during a busy summer day.

Guns are so 80s.

A little off the current topic^^ but does anyone happen to know where the players boxes are located within Ashe? Watching past matches it looks like the corners opposite where the player is seated. Can anyone confirm?

It's usually the left corner opposite where the players are sitting.

lol. you know that's kirilenko. you crack me up dude

and instead of blowing $200+ on a ashe ticket, buy a grounds pass and just walk into ashe.

seriously, no one cares.

if you find someone that does, just find someone who doesn't.

it's not that hard.

You are breaking the law young man. Bribe the usher, it is the law in NY.

There is an entire seperate thread on the US open weather but the short answer is, NO.

HOT from CNN. now CNN is saying all the subways and streets in NY could be Flooded due to Hurricane. and City of NY is on alert for severe Hurricane damage. Do you still think there will be US open this year ?

^^So sorry you had to cancel your flights :( I have a feeling there are going to be lots of empty seats Monday & Tuesday.

Speaking of Monday, does anyone know which seeds play on day 1? I have tickets for Fri/Sat/Sun but our best seats are Friday. Hoping it is 1 & 3.

Yeah, the show will go on - people in Manhattan may have to take overland transport to FM for a few days.

I just hope it moves through fast - would suck if it slowed down and Monday and Tuesday matches were affected.

Earlier in this string, I asked for assistance or advice for my quest to see Fed in the early rounds at this year's Open. So...I've already seen television commercials that Fed will be one of the night matches Monday night. Can I safely infer from that that he will most likely play Thursday, day session, at Ashe for the second round? The current USO schedule says the only Men's 2nd Round matches on Wednesday is the night session (one match on Ashe), so I would think since Fed plays Monday, that he would be in the Thursday day session round 2 schedule (assuming success in Round 1)...

Does anyone with experience or "in the know" have any insight? Is my logic sound enough to commit to buying tickets for Thursday day session?

Thanks again, feedback is appreciated.

Unless I am missing something, if Fed plays on Friday, that means he wouldn't have played since Monday. Seems like a long time in between matches. Would that make Thursday more likely?

is there someplace where they have the schedule of which matches are played on what stadiums?

i really want to see federer play, so if he is playing on saturday, i want to buy ashe tickets for that session
i have grounds pass for sunday sept 4th but i doubt he will play anywhere other than ashe

any good way or knowing what session he might play?

Adamlp41, I was thinking they might put Fed on Ashe for Wed night session? They have on the website that the Men's 2nd round starts on the night session Wednesday. Fish would be an obvious match to slot in there, but Fed would be a big draw too. If he played Wednesday then Friday would be his next match. I am just guessing........not really sure how they schedule thing though.

Would they really have Fed play 2 night matches on the first three days of the tournament? Seems like during the early rounds they will spread that out so more players play at night...Novak, Rafa, an American, etc...

You make a good point. Who knows....I guess we'll have to wait and see.

ETA: Just found last years Order of Play for days 1-4.

Day 1

Roddick played 3rd day match on Ashe & Fed play last night match on Ashe

Day 2

Djokovic played 2nd day match on Ashe & Rafa played 1st night match on Ashe

Day 3

Roddick played last night match on Ashe and the first of the men's 2nd round matches

Day 4

Fed played 3rd daytime match on Ashe & Djokovic played the last night match on Ashe.

so.....if you replace roddick with Fish and follow the same logic, you are right that Roger should be playing day session on Thursday.

In theory, the scheduling logic works. Selfishly, I think I'm going to buy the Thursday day tickets and do a lot of hoping until then. I'm still curious if anyone with experience with the Open would recommend something else?

Roger is playing tonight, my guess is he would be playing on Wednesday and Friday, if he gets that far.
Agreed. Historically the US is an every other day tournament (barring weather) - until the gap between the QF and SF. But there were 24 men's matches Mon and 24 scheduled for today. So some players (Roddick) will be on a different schedule.

Looks like instinct lead you to the right decision adamlp41!! Murray playing day session and Roddick playing the night match on Ashe for Wed. That means Fed on Thurs. Have fun!

Hopefully Thursday day is in fact Fed, as I bought tickets. Until I see the lineup posted, and no rain in the forecast, I'll be a little anxious. This literally may be my one chance to see Fed live, so hoping it works out.

If he is not scheduled for Thursday, always check the practice courts.

All,

Please help me out here. i have never been to the open so i was wondering if i should buy tickets online in advance or buy at the door? i am going this coming Saturday 9/3/2011 at 11AM.

Also, should i buy the parking online ?

Some weird schedule they have. Fed played Monday and his next match is, technically speaking, should be today (Wednesday), but he is not. he is playing Thursday.

So the all important question is: If Novak and Rafa played Tuesday, when is their next match?

Parking is the least of your problem.

Get the tickets if you can in advance since that's the busiest time of the Open , Labor Day weekend.

ok i am going to have to give them a call and complain about discrimination then. because last year they checked my ticket at every entrance i went to and every time i went back into the stadium.

Joel is right, you are such a fool. the reason they checked your ticket when you go to Ashe might have been because of how you look, you look like a fool so they just want to make sure you are not getting lost.

it's not my business to chime in on your argument with someone else, until you are about to make a call that might potentially stop all the good things that is happening right now. Dont make that phone call to complain man.

Monday could be an interesting day.

I was thinking of getting day session tickets but all gone...

Evening still available, but who they put on will be interesting. There's a chance of Berdych-Monfils, Roger-Stepanek, Novak-Gasquet, Fish-Tsonga. All great looking matches, but the Fish-Tsonga match looks the best to me - I think that could go on the evening session, but that means putting Fed or Novak on Armstrong?

They all still have to get through first I suppose ;-)

Has anyone tried getting on to Louis Armstrong during the day session with an Ashe ticket? Is it pretty easy to get on?

I have tickets for men's quarters/semis/final, but all up in the God's, so would love to see some tennis on Armstrong next Tuesday. I'm thinking it could be DelPo-Isner / Murray-Wawrinka on Armstrong, assuming Roddick and Nadal are on Ashe (and that they all get through...).

Thinking of going Sat to try to see Fed practice.

I'm going to attend the day session 9/7 as part of a corporate event. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to wear in a suite? Based on what I see on TV people in the stadium wear everything from t-shirts to suits. I'm thinking that business casual might work for my situation. I guess my other alternative might be a polo type shirt and shorts. If anyone has any recommendations I'd love to hear them.

Corporate event and you're considering shorts?! Nonononono

Business casual fits the bill- no ties. Jeans cool, if you wear a jacket.

If you are trying to get in LA stadium, just allot time because there are lines to get into the seats especially before the change over. There are some reserved seats(the closer ones) on Armstrong yet the Ashe tickets should get you pretty close as long as you get there early.

No online, but they have the daily schedule on a widescreen right next to the practice courts P1 thru P5. So the first thing u do is walk over to those courts (next to Ashe) and plan your day. Also court 12 is set aside for practice and yesterday we saw DY and Kevin Anderson

So I can't bring a camera or backpack? According to USo_Org
Good thing I have an android phone with a good camera

Thanks for that rommil. Anybody know what time 'early' is? :) - not sure what time play will start on Monday/Tuesday actually...
