If we look at the prospective quarterfinals this is a pretty good event:
Goffin vs Simon
Fognini vs Coric
Vesely vs Lorenzi
Paire vs Monfils

Goffin here to vulture some much needed points for WTF after the ankle issue ruining RG and grass:

Beware Cecchinato, who has done very well at Challenger level on red clay this year. Tall lefties (Delbonis, Stebe and Pella) have been his only nemeses.
Yeah, I'm aware of the danger Marco could pose to Simon. He's been playing solely on clay this year really, with the exception of Wimbledon, AO and Chennai. I wonder what he's paying? No Simon loss will surprise me.

Why dont they just play HC? HC-Clay-Grass-Clay-HC.
I know its some clay after Wim, but never got, specially for a HC player like Coric playing Clay now, this is in Croatia? Edit- yes in Croatia. Must be the reason why he is playing it.

All I can say is: "Yay, Goffin is back!!!" So glad the injury was less serious than it looked. Silly French need to put non-clay colored tarps next to the court, really...

6/1 3/6 6/1 for Marco. Things are looking very grim for Simon. Nothing seems to be working out, he looks bored out there, lackadaisical, no intensity. His once godly anticipation, now seemingly gone. The footwork has taken a huge hit. The serve is a joke, ball toss all over the place, no aggression in his game at all, these things haven't just appeared... They've been in his game for sometime now. I truly wonder if 2017 will be his final season.

I know transitioning to clay after grass isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world. Here's hoping his American hard-court season fares better.

Simon now 10-16 for the season.

Do you guys think Goffin has a chance of winning the whole tournament? Only guys I see that can trouble him are The Fog and Monfils, maybe Paire too.

The €24.5K check he is guaranteed now is undoubtedly more than he has earned since 1R AO'17 loss to Istomin. Since then he was 1-4 in ATP qualies matches and was forced to withdraw after the last match, a win at Eastbourne qualies.

Anybody paying attention to the umpire of the Fognini vs Rublev match now?
He's saying weird stuff like "touch" as soon as the ball touched the line and "Fognini holds 2 games to 1"

No doubt his fall from grace is painful, nothing like Murrays or Djokovics fall which must be very painful,,, the treatment of course win a few big titles,:D

Another teen title is possible after the drought well documented by my colleague @vive le beau jeu ! . Hope everybody bought low on The Young Russian Currency which plummeted early this week after being sacked by Attila the Hungarian in qualies.

What a story! Is it more like Tolstoy or Dostoevsky??? War & Peace or Crime & Punishment ???

Congrats to Rublev on winning his maiden ATP title at the tender age of 19! According to the ATP website, "he is the seventh lucky loser to win an ATP World Tour title and the first to do so since Rajeev Ram triumphed in Newport in 2009."

What is it with lucky losers this year? Two of them went on to beat the world #1 and now one has gone on to win the title! So why the frig couldn't they have got through qualifying??? o_O
