Nice! I found a better 30 minute highlight video than the last one but will look for the full thing some time later.

Even Dailymotion isn't reliable anymore. Wimbledon have really removed a lot of good content recently.

Yea I saw that one on Youtube. I wonder how long it will last there. Yea they remove everything which is annoying. I will post the torrent link in one of those comment threads.

:Dnope i'm only wanted to say it's important against which kind of player you're playing..it relates to each player not only fed;)rafa would have easily won this wimby had he played any other guy than djokovic, fed would have at least 25 slams in his bag if not nadal..etc. it always matters who's your opponent

Really? You are a f*** genius. It is a shame you just joined the forum this year. Keep up the good work!

Nadal is a more impressive physical specimen than Federer is, I agree. But even knowing that, he's human and clearly reached his limit after 12 hours of play. You could see he was exhausted in the middle of the fifth set and had reached his end. Advantage, Djokovic. There's no question that Djokovic had more advantages in this match--indoor play and Nadal's 12 hours being the biggest ones. To deny that is ridiculous IMO.

Believe me, if Djokovic happens by some miracle to lose to Anderson in the final, you watch how quickly these same Djokovic fanatics who are claiming Nadal's 12 hours on court made no difference will start posting how Djokovic's SF after five hours and two days is the factor in the result(despite the fact that Giant Anderson had an over six hour SF and is probably worse for wear) Most fans are hypocrites. At the end of the day, all players have to deal with conditions which may favor them or may not favor them and they make a difference but what matters more is who wins. This time Djokovic got the job done. The end.

The final was not even close. No need to write a thesis about what if Anderson wins.

He choked (happens more to Nadal than people think) in 2011 USO final because Novak owned him mentally at a time, not returning Novak's puffball serves (injured shoulder) wasn't because of fatigue.

2012 AO was after the match, when the battle was already over and they had to suffer through the Kia man speech.

The guy recovers from tough matches better than anyone I've seen and has amazing stamina.

Excuse me?

Federer never displayed the same kind of stamina that Nadal displayed at Wimb this year. At 31, Fed had nothing left in the tank in the Olympics final after playing 4.5 hours against Delpo, while Nadal at 32 had no problems playing 5 hours against Djokovic after having already played 5 hours against Delpo.
Federer vs. Murray in the final of OG played terribly because he was nervous. He struck with simple blows. I saw the match, and it did not seem walks water.

Well, your claim (Nadal's stamina in 2018 better than Fed in 2012) may or may not be true, but I feel you are comparing apples and oranges.

One week BO3 (apart from the final) Vs two week BO5 - the recovery between matches definitely helps at this age. Moreover, Fed had just played the longest BO3 match in the open era, while Murray had a close but straight set victory over Djokovic. Furthermore, unless I misremember, Fed-Delpo was fairly late on Friday, and the final in the afternoon. So a few more hours for Nadal to recover - and the match went into a second day.

So quite hard to reach any conclusions. Given that it's Nadal's least favourite surface, a very very impressive tournament for him in any case, for sure.

Hmm, 2011 French Open final.

Federer: he was getting tired throughout the 3rd set and also the 4th, unfortunate I couldn't take my chances.

Nadal was extremely tired in the US Open 2011 final too, you could see it in the 4th set after that marathon 3rd set he had emptied his tank, actually both players were tired in that 4th set but Djokovic just had little bit more than Nadal. Nadal was also lucky in the 2009 AO final as Federer mentally collapsed in the 5th because Nadal looked tired from the middle of the third set onward and Federer had a ton of chances to win that set and he would have won it in 4 if he had won that set. There have been quite a few occasions when Nadal has looked tired, 2017 AO final is another one, you could see he didn't have the same zip in his shots in the 5th set. He usually doesn't show it like most other players and keeps his body language positive, kind of complete opposite of Del Potro , who looks tired from the first set.

Of course, Nadal has excellent conditioning, but so do Federer and Djokovic. When was the last time Federer actually looked tired in a match? He is 5-6 years older than both of them.

Though I agree most of the memorable shots came from Nadal, real winner of the match remains Djokovic and you can't do anything about that. Rules of the match were very well laid out to both the players and match proceeded only because both had agreed to those rules. I have no doubt that off the ground Nadal was better player but in service Djokovic compensated more than enough of that. Thoughout the match Nadal could not read his down the T serve from deuce court and Djokovic earned an ace there whenever he wished to. I wish sometimes he had played for that service blindly as majority of the serves from deuce court Djoko sent in that direction.
Though match being an indoor was a factor but you can't say Nadal was a winner coz he hit more memorable shots (that he invariably does more than any other top players)

That shot really wasnt great, Nadal said the same in his presser. Djokovic hit 20 better shots in the match. I watched the full highlights earlier, no reason to take anything from Novak, its one of the best matches ive ever seen

Shame on Rafa then, must've been pressed. It was a great shot, sure not one-in-a-million, but so angled Nadal didn't even touch the ball - now that was tough to achieve. Not the best approach by Nadal, obviously, so forcing a volley error may not have been so impressive, but it was a direct winner and that was difficult to make against Nadal from that position.

Also, the mental aspect should not be glossed over - retaining full concentration on an absolutely crucial point isn't so easy even for seasoned pros. Nadal's ability in that regard is one of his greatest assets.

from the man himself, this was the match that launched his comeback and was his breakthrough:

"that was the match that has mentally turned things around for me"
"that has catapulted me to" epic exuberance.

Nah he's back now, he'll win 4 in a row again and send Fed into retirement.

So much gloating by fed fans in this thread. Little do they know this is the match that catapulted Novak into another GOAT run to overtake everyone. They always have underestimated how many slams djokodal can win in a short period of time.

Gotta rewatch this match in full while reading the corresponding sections of the thread during changeovers again. Relive the "Resurrection of Earth's Mightiest Warrior" experience.

I’ll pop it on later. I actually don’t remember the first day as well as the second day, but what a rip-roaring display of athleticism and skill. Gun to my head, their singular best match ever.

OTOH, Djokovic was quite fortunate that year as he avoided bots and big hitters (especially the former type) in earlier rounds. Running into a zoned Anderson in 4R would have been very different from facing a half-asleep Anderson who went through 2 five-setters in final.

Judging from this SF, my point is that Djokovic was very vulnerable to being overpowered/outgunned on the ground, but his serves essentially bailed him out.

(Anderson was seeded No.8, Djokovic was seeded No.12, remember)
