2019 is a crucial year for Djokovic

Playing Roddick and Hewitt, also Safin, when they were in form obviously, I wouldn't call it free rein either. Opponents should be judged on their performance, not name. That's what I stand by so Murray, Wawrinka, Cilic or Chung - all of these can be credible opponents.

I know your opinion about Federer won't change no matter what arguments I use, but I'm sure you understand that what you said about Nadal and Djokovic only having fewer Slams because they had it super tough competing with each other and Federer while Roger had it easy, it's simply not true.
No, I said that to counter-troll someone who said Djokovic won his Slams in a weak era

Weak era arguments tend to be circular in nature, so I don't use them seriously

I love how you chose your time range ever so carefully. Over the past 3 years he narrowed the gap by 1. Over the last 5 years he narrowed it by 5. It all depends on the time frame you look at.
I wasn’t so careful, though, was I? I could have easily picked the last 2 years and said that Federer widened the gap by 1.

I picked the last 3 years because I didn’t think what happened 4 years ago was relevant to the current states of their careers. If you want to go back 5 years, you might as well go back 20 and say Federer widened the gap by 6.

If Djokovic continues with the form he showed from Wimbledon onwards this year, it really is difficult to see who is gonna stop him. He will be heavy favourite in every slam barring the French. And even the French he will still have a shot at. The young guys like Zverev, Shapavolov, Chung, Tsisipass or whatever is name is show promise but still appear unable to break through yet and I don't really see Federer challenging him on any court or Nadal for that matter barring the French. This only really leaves the likes of Cilic, Murray and Wawrinka. Murray though appears finished. Wawrinka has shown he has the tools but has done nothing this season. Barring injury, I expect Djokovic to win a minimum of 2 slams but more likely 3.

I have to concur; at least 2, but maybe 3! He still owns Fedal as far as I'm concerned! o_O:p;)
