2019: What a Great Year for ABZ

Z is underachieving this year, given his ability and talent. But he's had personal issues and illness that have disrupted things.

His game is still there, it's a matter of time before he's winning big titles again.

I'm sorry, what illness? He is fine. What are you, a shrink? He should man up.

Or you could say that he overachieved last year and the tour has figured him out :unsure:

As for talent...he has a talent for bashing off the baseline yes. He has no net game and a very error prone forehand.

So if talent means great backhand and having an incredibly punchable face then yes he has talent.

He was ill earlier in the year, he hasn't been able to practise like normal. So he's still a bit rusty.

Nothing to do with manning up.
And that Succubus of a girl friend. I've joined the ABZ cult for clay season and its paying off handsomely. Federe has staved off Thiem's climb to #4 seed at RG, but not Zedrot; Thiem now with a near 700 point lead dropping off the Rome results from last year already.

Agree Zverev's form is coming along and love his ground game right now, but he's still quite bad on serve...yep 49.32% on 2nd serve points won in Madrid on clay for the tournament. My Zedbot name came about because he was around this time in 2017 at 58% 2nd serve points won. That was Zverev's promise, a great 2nd serve game that would combine with an improving first serve game (2018 the first serve improvement was stunning as well as the return). If Zedrot would fix the 2nd serve game (like Thiem has done) he would be an absolute beast especially with his jump in returning. All the potential is there, but he and his team continue to muddle along in a life of pushery.;)

2017: Great results at the Masters (QF Madrid, Wins Rome). Poor results at Roland Garros (1R).
2018: Excellent results at the Masters (SF Monte Carlo, Wins Madrid, loses to rain in the Rome final). Poor results at Roland Garros (QF).
2019: Horrible results at the Masters. Awesome results at Roland Garros.

Enjoy yourselves ABZs, because you only have a couple of weeks left!

He'll lose 2nd round to Sinner @ RG. Or maybe Oafpelka :giggle:

One wishes that Lexi could shake these doldrums and get into something more
constructive like beating Nole and Rafa regularly and then losing to Roger.

Amazing day. Worked so hard to QF only to choke it away in epic fashion, a refreshing change from the 5 set losses in the early rounds, but just as sweet

As much as I've enjoyed ABZ, I'm actually starting to get a bit uncomfortable with it, kinda like watching a pop star meltdown.

Yeah, kinda like that, awkward and uncomfortable, but it seems like they still think they're great and everything is okay.

Why do people hate Zverev Jr? I remember Safin acting like a petulant child and people ignored that and called him a hot stud.

He majors at minors that's my criticism of Zverev, best of 5 situations are not his forte and this moment.
Winning 3 M1000s and one WTF is a lot better than other NextGeners have done so far. He gets hate because the current crop of tennis fans have been bred to believe that they can and must only be fans of the Big 3. So they treat the others as trash.

Safin is a horrible person. He is in Putin's Duma now. Vile. Behaved like an utter moron on court. But people love clowns so...
