Rublev has seemed to somewhat own Coric previously. The Croat seems to give Rublev the rhythm he thrives on. So I expect him to take care of business today in front of the home crowd.

Coric managed a tough hold. Really pushing, though. Looks like he's playing to not lose, rather than playing to win ala Rublev.

Can't see a logo on Rublev's strings?
Playing blacked out.
Hadn't noticed it before.

Coric really come alive since his bathroom break after 1st set against Raonic:)

he has played a blacked out head for a long time, without having an official contract with them after he dumped Wilson, I believe

this is getting overused by furriners lol

it's actually more like a specific "come on, you can do this" rather than a general "let's go and be successful"

Sweet corichoke there. Put himself on control of every point but missed three consecutive finishing forehands to help Rublev level at 5-5 and then he delivered.

Coric snatched set loss from the jaws of victory there..
5-2 up...
All to play for now!

He likes a challenge.

Another bathroom break?

what a bad choke from coric. had 2 doable shots on rublev serve to go up set points, and missed both shots. then loses both service points. i even said coric had to get an insurance mini break, otherwise he would lose the set, and i was right. 5-2 up to 5-7. classic. couldn't have scripted it better.

any more good cheers for a 'furriner'?

Coric was doing a good job towards the end of the first set to frustrate Rublev. He needs to do that again if he's going to win.

I’m not sure I would go there after epick meltdowns vs Medfly and Shoeflypas.

meltdowns because he lost? lol
choked the first set vs teats but that's it, considering how the rest of the match has gone I say he wasn't winning that one, short on stamina perhaps - level wasn't high all along, kept relying on the clutch

Ignore the obvious if you choose. Getting a one-set lead in a slam match Increases odds dramatically. He mentally choked both of those matches.

whatever the case, I think we can all agree that Rublev is out-mentalling Coric right now (and shapo yesterday and yugo yumbert a few days before).

he also out-mentalled Sam 'the outlaw' Querrey, Fucsovic and Berrettini recently in the slems.

sometimes you out-mental, sometimes you get out-mentalled. it's the name of the game.

one day you expose mugs, another, get exposed as a mug yourself, sad
tennis really drives the point home that humans are by nature awful mugs
