If this were true I think Nike would exit the tennis entirely. The newest shoe “vapor” “cage” 4 goes to show that losing Fed as an endorser is the Vapor shoe is showing in sales. Looks like Nike is putting all eggs in Nadals basket.
Apparel wise I think it is wise that Nike is not making $100+ RF polo shirts. I think polo shirts in general were only purchased by country club/ private club players. Even then private clubs in my area have relaxed to accept crew shirt (tennis specific apparel) as appropriate to the dress code.
i don’t think that’s the case at all. Tons of young people wear Nike and in terms of tennis they often sport the challenger line. Rafa, while a force, is not as massive a brand with youth as one may think. And clearly with their youthful, experimental, urban collections it is that market Nike is going after. Rafa is a legend but not someone that market is interested in as a cultural icon. Players like Osaka and Kyrgios are more captivating and relatable to youth and Rafa’s market is more of a middle aged individual.
So Nike certainly has a future in tennis without Nadal..
