2021 Yonex VCore 95

Really like my Vcore 95. I find it easier on my arm/shoulder than the EZONE 98 Tour. At stock, ground strokes are excellent as I can generate excellent RHS. Volleys are great too. However, at stock, I struggled to generate pace on my serve.

Adding 1.5g to 2g at 6, 9, and 12 ’o clock (4.5g to 6g total) makes the Vcore 95 a great serving racquet and produces heavy ground strokes, but I can’t generate the same RHS from the baseline, and I am not nearly as quick at net. Hopefully, an adjustment period is all that is needed.

Absolutely loving these racquets, and almost ready to say goodbye to my vcphd's. Got a trio matched set and dealt with the great people at TW, expressed my concerns about the listed SW (all three of mine were matched at 286 unstrung) and the guy I was dealing with mentioned they were pretty much all around 285-86 average. Long story short, they have now updated the product page to reflect the true SW of 316 (y)

I've mentioned it in another thread already but I've switched to this frame from Blade. The serves it seems I will need some work but were not too bad.
The maneuverability is so good with this frame. Good power and spin.
Accuracy is excellent. I guess it helps the constant spacing on the strings.
1hbh are the best.

Higher launch angle and a bit erratic with RPM Blast @ 48lbs. Think I'll stick with Poly Tour Strike @ 48lbs - only issue I have is lack of bite on kick serves and backhand slices. Other thing with PTS is I've had barely any tension loss after 8-10 hours of hitting.

I've ended up adding about 5g (blue-tack) to the handle to take it to around 11pts HL, but this was only necessary because I'm using a thinner leather grip (Kimony Techni Leather) than normal because of Yonex grip sizes. Still loving this frame and got 3 now.

Got a used VCore 95 strung with Triax at 53 lbs. VCore 98 is my racket of choice but I'm having fun hitting with the 95 as well and switch it up between the sets just for fun. What i like about the 95 over 98 is i can generate more RHS and also flick up some low balls and like it at volleys as well. I can also hit the ball harder and it stays in whereas it sails sometimes with the 98. My 2HBH is a little harder to hit if i don't pay close attention to the ball.

I finally found a string set up that I like for this stick! Blue VS Touch 1.30 in the mains and 4G Soft 1.25 in the crosses. 51#/48#

The ball pocketing and feel have transformed the stick quite a bit compared to the full poly set ups I have been experimenting with. For reference, I have replaced my grip with a Head Hydrosorb Tour + an overgrip and have 3 grams of lead evenly split between 3, 9, and 12.

Previous setups:

Blue Poly Tour Pro 1.20, Yellow Poly Tour Pro 1.25, Red Cyclone Tour 1.20, Red RPM Blast Rough 1.25 mains with Poly Tour Fire 1.20 crosses. All strung in the mid 40s with a 2# diff between the mains and crosses.

If you're looking for fully poly, I'd give Cyclone Tour a try first from my previous setups. I'd bump the gauge to 1.25 though.

Stay away from Blue Poly Tour Pro in a full bed. Yellow is fine.

I’m deciding between a Blade 16x19 or the VC95 and actually finally found out the real SW since in the review page of TW it still says 323 but in the product page it’s updated to 316.
I like 325 swingweight but don’t like to customize at all, how is everyone’s experience so far stock?

Currently switching from VCPHD.

My experience is quite positive. You can get away with sticking with stock. Though I switch between a much higher specced Blade Pro (350g static, 340g SW) and some stock VCore 95s, I never feel like I lose that much stability. Just some plow but that's more than made up in whippiness. It plays great.

Did you mean 3, 9, and 12 o'clock... or 6,9, and 12 o'clock?

If the former... then try adding some weight at 7" above the butt cap (on the handle). This might help. Try adding weight there gradually, but I would put 4-6g myself. This may bring the balance back to what it might have been in stock form.

Yesterday was my first time using this frame.

i added the Yonex leather grip, 4 grams of lead at 3/9 strung with tecnifibre pro red code 17L @40 lbs.
Final specs with OG of 345 g, 31.4 bal and 325 sw.

felt great , but zero power, my balls were landing on the serve line, I do not know if is the string or the frame that’s is very control oriented.

Do i lower the tension or use a string with more power?

40 lbs is plenty low, I don't remember if pro red code is very stiff or not but that setup should be fine. The racquet is definitely lower powered than all the other Yonex frames (except maybe the VCP HD). Where did you get a yonex leather grip by the way?

My string setup is Diadem solstice power 18 (1.15) with a soft polyamide cross string that gives some good pop (Diadem evolution 17 gauge) at 45 lbs. No weight added just an overgrip and Yonex dampener.

I have 3, and they're def not 316 stock. I'm trying out different string setups (and gauges), so the SW is different, but I'd venture to say they're all in the mid 320s and up. I had the previous version, and there I did feel the need to add weight (a few grams a 3&9 and/or 12 iirc). Same for the VCP 97 (310). These ones I play stock, and feel no need to add weight; I'm more inclined to choose a thinner gauge to reduce SW a little bit tbh (1.2 instead of 1.3 f.inst.).

From my own experience, this frame doesn’t need leather. When I did that I had the same experience - balls landing short. When I removed the leather balls were landing deeper again. Might have to do with the frame already being head light. Leather makes it way too head light. And the frame itself I whippy already in stock form. I would recommend the spec setup of Marcus giron, TW made a video of that somewhere.

You might be right, I tried to use the same specs I use on my current frame which has a balance unstrung of 30.5 , but on the Yonex I think this balance does not work like you say.

i will put back the original grip and see the result

Well my final specs are almost identical as Marcos, the only difference is in the balance I get 31.4 with og and get has 31.8 , maybe there is the key

Yes, they are 316 sw stock, I also own three and had tw weigh north of a dozen for me. After doing that for me, they updated the specs on their website because not a single one was even over 320 and the VAST majority were 315-16

Edit, sorry to clarify: mine are now 316 strung without accessories, but were all 286 measured unstrung, so final sw will vary depending on type and gauge of strings + lead and accessories

That seems reasonable (reg. unstrung specs). The difference is probably attributed to the QC, as all my 3 2021 VC95 have higher SW than all my 3 2018 VC95. The one I have strung with PTP/PTS hybrid is def south of 330, but that also most likely a higher static weight than the other two (picked it up strung so I haven't bothered to weigh it w/o strings yet). I've had TWE measure specs earlier on quite a few Yonex, and even though their QC is great, there has been variances of 10 SW units within a batch of 6 frames (VCP97 330). And of all the rackets I've gotten measured, SW is the one metric that varies the most, even with the rest of the specs being very similar.

That probably explains why it feels so maneuverable for a 310 gram stick. I guess I like 315-320 sw.

Is there anyone out there who has moved to this stick from the 2015 PS97? If so, I'd like to hear some opinions in regards to comparing the two.

2 week's with this racquet. It does everything right, like the Blade v7. I could use either tbh and would be happy. I switched because the blade already has a SW ceiling whereas the VC95 has a low SW which I can tinker a bit. Honestly both are are great GO TO racquets, which I can assume most of us Rec players don’t even bother modifying racquets

Vc95 is on average 3-4 pts more HL than V7 blade

I might try this again stock. I could feel the ball landing shorter with less spin when I added the 4 grams at 3/9 and the leather grip. I prefer stock for my forehand and kick serve and one handed backhand. The leather grip plus weight at 3/9 help my two handed backhand and perhaps volleys. I'm really trying to stick with the two handed backhand so hopefully I can find a way to make it work in the stock form or with just a little bit of weight that won't negatively impact my forehand. It is weird how I feel this stick is the right one for me but it is so sensitive to customization. I need to find a happy middle where all strokes are A- or better.

Yup and still both great stock for my game.
It's funny I was also choosing between the VCore 95 2021 and the V7 Blade 18×20. I liked both just felt that I had to put my foot on the pedal with the blade at all times, big serve and forehand. With the VCore 95, I could play more of an all court game albeit with significantly less power.

I demoed this to compare with the Vcore Pro 97 HD. Played it stock with poly and it was too light - but liked the feel of it. Added 2g at 2 and 10, 1g at 12 and 10g on the grip to give it a similar static weight and balance to the HD and it came alive. Groundstrokes were smooth, felt much more effortless than the HD which feels like I have to pay a lot of attention to my form. It was great at the net, maybe not the pop of the HD but still maneuverable. But serving was a problem. I can bomb serves with the HD and place them where I want and its all effortless. I could not dial in the 95 - not nearly as much power at the HD, less control and more work. Flat, slice and kick all felt wonky. I really like the racquet overall, but this feels like a fatal flaw for me. Thoughts on improving the service game of this racquet?

These sticks are so good there are no used ones floating around here which is unfortunate for me as I'm looking for a 2nd/backup racquet :(

Why not ditch the leather but keep the lead at 3 and 9? Or maybe half the total weight of lead but move it to 10 and 2.

has anyone played with these two and have the ability to offer up some feedback?

vcore 95 (current)
ezone 98 (current)

ezone 98 is my jam, right now.
I also own the vcore 98 (current).
my feedback on vcore 98 vs. ezone 98:

vcore 98, more power, more spin, MUCH higher launch angle
similar stability
ezone, good access to spin - but not as ample, better feel, still good power, but more control for sure.
comfort wise, I feel the ezone is about one tick more comfy.
both whippy/head light balance
I prefer the launch angle of the ezone, I hit in between flat and spinny. so the ezone is tailor made for me.

my thoughts on the LIMITED time I have spent with the vcore 95?
took about ten minutes to get used to the smaller size head.
felt like it had noticeably less power than the vcore 98, a little less spin too, obviously.
good feel, good directional control.
I wonder if power and control is similar between the vcore 95 and ezone 98

Ezone 98 more power but I didn’t have a lot of control. Vcore 95 is on it’s own category for Yonex for me, it could be another line. Does everything right but isn’t the best in every category. It’s a good racquet overall

Exactly, I need the control. For reference I’ve always played with control racquets (IG Radical, prestige, blades). What this racquets does new for me is that it’s not plush but still gives me control but it’s not a negative. I owned the Ezone 98 Tour for 1 month and it just didn’t work.

I think they are on par in control, a slight edge with the blade because it feels more stable with return serves and I don’t feel the blade sluggish at all (v7 18x20) as some users mention.

Forgiveness: Same, probably need to have good footwork with either.

The advantage with the VC95 is that I feel basically the same control and forgiveness but It feels faster through the aireven thought it’s slightly heavier. Oh and QC.

The slight edge with the Blade is that my shots feel really heavy and it has that plush feeling which i’m addicted to.

I could pick one or the other, love them both.

Indeed, honestly I never even knew there was RA rating, SW etc and still don’t really focus on that. I just tried it and didn’t like it much. But it was my first Yonex and I kinda fell in love with the brand. It just feels like…Yonex krafts racquets and the whole handmade process just feels special.
So I bought a VCPHD and the VC95, loved both but kept the later. VC95 is my only racquet now.

I may not be adding nothing new here but I’ve been playing with this racket for a month and the love continues.
Perfect racket for me. Feels amazing, fast and easy to use. Great control on length and sideways.
Good amount of power for me.
I can attack more with my backhand.
I don’t miss approach shots on short balls.
No miss hits even though it has smaller head size I was using.
Even when I am exhausted I hit consistently deep, and I can choose to play with more spin for less risky shots.
This racket has it all for me.
