About Nike socks

From my perspective (everyone is different), which obviously goes by price lower to higher:

OK- SX6913 NikeCourt Essentials Crew
Good - SX4935 NikeCourt Elite Crew
Best! - SX5666 NikeGrip Elite Crew

The material in the Essentials Crew just feels wrong, while the Grip Elite Crew feels so good on my feet. For me, definitely worth the price.

Last year seem to be a pretty good year for socks with the Court Elite and Grip Elite, but now it seems all we are getting are Court Essentials.

Does anyone know what Nike's plans are? I was excited to learn that we would see new socks this year, but I'm disappointed with the Court Essentials.

I've not had the chance to see/try the also new SX5593.

I don't have any insider knowledge. But as a consumer, Nike started offering a lot of "Essentials" products in the running line (where I first noticed it). I'm surprised to see they're making some headway into the tennis line as well. The items are designed to be sold at a lower price point and it can be hit or miss for the consumer. Some people will love the Essentials stuff, some people won't. I like the Court Elite socks, but I also get the 3-pack cushioned no-shows and they're fine, too.

It'll be interesting how they position the Essential products next to the premium products in the tennis line. In running, you're getting a very minor discounting for picking the Essential product over the premium product. Of the items I've seen in person, I'd gladly pay the premium product pricing. And maybe that's the strategy.

You can buy this fancy item for $100, or this cheaply made thing for $90. Nike will be glad you gave them money (either way), but they're also playing a psychological game to position their $100 product to be a lot more 'worth it' when you have a point of reference. It's business marketing.

I just remember... I also saw recently on TT Europe:
SX5752 - NikeGrip LW Crew (similar pricing to Grip Elite SX5666)
SX5460 - Nike(Elite?) Cushion Crew (similar pricing to Court Elite SX4935)

i have about 35 pairs of the elite basketball socks.. nike started putting a $10 gift card for filling out these short surveys. i would never pay $20 for a pair of socks.. but between in store clearance and the gift cards i have paid nothing for them. and these socks are great.. they might even be worth the asking price.. great cushioning.. compression.. and durable. i have a few of their tennis socks..and i can't tell any difference between the tennis and basketball socks.. the basketball socks are more deliberate in the style department.

35 pairs? That’s some funny stuff.
35? U have a sock addiction, junior.
Why not only have seven and do a wash once a week?
Wow. The things one reads on these forums are priceless.

as for laundering them.. i wash them all at the same time.. i have a sock only laundry basket in my closet. they are left right specific and i don't want them to get lost. 35 pairs is a full load. free socks.. heck, i'd get a dozen more.

Not a bad plan and while I dont have a need for all that almost all the socks I wear are athletic specific in purpose and have a left and right specific setup. Makes life easier. Haha. But the basketball elites are amazing as are the training half cushioned ones. I have a few Adidas and Under Armour types as well and all work well with Nike being the ones that offer the most compression like feel and launder the best.
