I still haven't given up on the Maestro! I still believe he has one magical run left in him.. but then am an incurable optimist
I expect nothing, but I'd love to be surprised. Most of all I'd like to know what is causing his slump. How much of it is rust, how much age, and how much a loss of movement from the surgeries.

I expect roger to be back there abouts next year but for the remainder of this year i think its more about getting his fitness back.

So do I. I already thought I saw the end of him in 2013, so everything from 2014 on was a bonus, but this time I think he can't rise again.
Me too. I didn't even find it surprising, because 2013 Fed was still playing his usual eye-popping tennis but just didn't quite have the same physical edge. He could've continued the one-way decline and retired a year later, and he'd still be remembered as a legend. Instead he had a 2nd career.

It's the unfortunate nature of his injury. Unlike torn ligaments that can be repaired meniscus is permanent, with arthroscopy only offering a temporary solution. He just cannot play enough matches needed to get in good shape to "rise again". We saw what happened at FO, and this is one of the most gentle surfaces. Hard courts are not that kind.

I hope you are 100% wrong but fear you are 100% right. For so many years it seemed like he was so injury free.

He's gonna be fierce at the USO. Here for the outfit. Feeling it.

Not to me, he had about the same amount of injuries as your average pro, many of them at very inopportune moments (such as 2016 Wimbledon). He just didn't talk about them in the press 24/7.
