For now, I'd take Nadal in Paris and Roger at SW19...
Really depends on the FO tuneups for Rafa though...He needs to win a title badly.
I'd say one each, althought the second most likely possibility I would think is Nadal 2, Fed 0. I don't see Fed beating Nadal in RG, but Nadal beating Fed at Wimby is possible.
Nadal is not the same player as 2008 or even 2007 at all. I would be amazed if he won Wimbledon, far more amazed than Federer himself or someone other than Nadal winning the French. Federer isnt even Nadals toughest head to head opponent, so Federer does not have to be the one to beat Nadal at either event (and he would beat him if they did play at Wimbledon this year I think anyway).
I can see where you're coming from. I would also expect Fed to win Wimby more than Nadal, but I think my original point was (which may not have come across particularly clearly) that I think it would be less of a shock for me to see Nadal win Wimby than Fed win RG. That's all.
Well, plenty of people are laying down a mark in the sand here (should that be clay or grass? ).
If fed does end up 3 times, it makes Nadal look somewhat insignificant, and even Sampras starts to pale by comparison.
Flip-side, If it ends up only 2 times, it means Nadal extends his clay legend, and gets another Wimbledon, which goes more to prove that he's not just a clay hero, and more of an all-round player.
Plenty at stake here....
Neither one will win the French or Wimbledon.
Neither one will win the French or Wimbledon.
Nadal has already proven that he is an all court player even though he is best on clay. Reaching three grass court finals at wimby and winning the third one (losing the other two to one of the best players of all time on grass) winning the aussie open, beijing olympics (which are played on decoturf, same surface as the us open), indian wells, montreal, queens etc. Nadal is no longer considered a specialist on clay but an all court player. He has already proven that he is not just a clay hero.
that is a scary thought though, nadal at 8 slams so young?
what leads you to believe that?
I would still pick Nadal for the French.
It is getting harder and harder for them to get thru the current field, and neither one has the "invincibility" thing going for them anymore, which use to be a huge factor for them in winning matches.
Mark my words. Im like Nostradamus when it comes to this. My gut feeling is that its gonna be 2 times. Nadal will win the french and wimbledon. So its gonna be 16-8.
Neither one will win the French or Wimbledon.
