if he does go to k swiss then fred perry can say goodbye to their sales
Fred Perry had sales? Are you kidding us? :)

He's a sour faced scot that's why.
I thought the same thing. As I've said before, they are walking billboards - and he's not a great one (note: I respect his game). I think Nike would have forced him to get his teeth fixed.

For whatever reason, I have never been motivated to purchase K-Swiss products...
What if Anna K were going to deliver them and help you try them on? :)

The Fred Perry looks great in that photo. Very classic style, classic logo. Just can't see Murray looking or playing great in that KSWiss gear. Stick with Fred and adidas.

The KSwiss just doesn't look right for some reason. How do the shoes wear? They look like they would feel clumbsy, not quite aerodynamic and smooth like adidas are.

I can't believe this thread is still going on. That article was written in December 08, about a week later Andy announced on his website that he had signed with Fred Perry for 2009.

"Andy has confirmed he'll continue to wear Fred Perry clothing in 2009, as the company enters an historic year.

Andy said: "I will be wearing Fred Perry clothing next year. 2009 would have been Fred Perry's 100th birthday, and the company has a great range of clothes lined up for me."

Can we put this to bed now!?!?

I dont know why he sticks with some loser english company like fred perry, if he wants to be a world contender he needs to break away from that mentality.

How so? He's world number 4, has reached a GS Final...what we're talking about just now is...WHAT BRAND OF CLOTHING HE WEARS. He's wearing stuff from a company that's obviously offering him good money and he seemingly likes the tradition that exists with Fred Perry. How's that a losers mentality? He's sticking with what he likes...not to dissimilar from pro's sticking with the Rackets they like ;-)

Whys he signing with these chavy second rate clothes companies I will never know but I supose the major firms don't want a bushy goofy miserble git with no charisma.

well if you are Nike/Adidas how many of the top players do you need?

For Nike isn't #1/#2 enough? someone like Fed has reached 19 consecutive GS semifinals, that is incredible and they have Rafa who now has the French/Wimbledon/Olympics/Aussie, so 3 of the last 4 slams

They aren't going to sell more, if at all, clothing because they have the #4 player as well

Adidas has Djoker along with some excitable players to watch such as Verdasco/Baghditas (sp)/JWT/etc

what do they gain with Murray that they don't already have?

Maybe in your small world it's a loser english company.
FP is very popular outside of Britain. The japanese in particular are crazy about it.

How come diadora is no longer getting top players? It stopped with Guga, at the moment their only top player is Keifer (sp) if I'm not mistaken.

^^in his defense, I don't think that the Fred Perry name or Company carries the same weight in the US that it does over in the UK. I think a lot of the "prestige" in the endorsement game comes from signing with the biggest and the best and with Nike having sales of $18 bil last year, some may feel that k swiss or Fred Perry is a step down.

I'm not judging either way, just adding an explanation. I enjoy watching Murray's game-but I personally couldn't see him at Nike with his "image". :)

Nike sponsored that charisma-free gorilla Pete Sampras, let's not forget.

He still had more TV time than any other player at that time and success creates admirers despite tha lack of charisma. But yea, once Murray wins a slam Nike will probably be there.

spoke with the main uk k-swiss rep today. he told me that talks are still going on with murray and he has tried and liked the stuff, its just all about the contract now. his deal with fred perry expires at the end of this year but if a deal is done they could buy out the remainder of the contract. his agent is now simon fuller, sure us uk guys are more aware of hi but he drives out the best financial deal everytime and apparently if adidas come in with a big offer murray would go for it. and that was k-swiss who told me, they didnt sound the most confident to be honest.

^^ 1. i tought murray didn't like to wear what everyone else does (adidas).

2. k-swiss will never be able to sign him if adidas are interested. Unless they flock a ridiculous amount of money.

3. We now know for sure he wont be with Fred Perry by next year, since his contract will be over. As it is very highly unlikely he will renew it.

yeah.. tell that to Rios...!

what is wrong with people here? FP is one of the companies with biggest heritage in tennis. Fred perry is part of Tennis... so is Tacchini, Ellesse, Fila, Lacoste.. respect that at least...

on the other hand, that Nike you guys praise like a god is in the sport for what... 30 years now?

That first thing seems like balls to me, if that were the case he'd be using Avery racquets and Hi-Tec shoes. He must deffo like adidas, he wore their stuff as a junior.

My God I Broke This Ages Ago! Murray Will Not Go To Adidas, Nike Or Reebok, He Does Not Like Wearing The Same Stuff As Everyone Else. This Was Evident With His Reluctancy To Change Cosmetics Fir Years Etc. Ive Been Told By People Who Know Murray.

^^ when i read this i thought it was a bit strange too, murray probably does like adidas. Besides, adidas make really good stuff. Especially when it comes to shoes.

I wish Andy would stick with FP, and I also wish he would switch to Dunlop racquets (at least PJ) since it was a Scottish founded company.

But it just doesn't work like that with all the big $$$$$ out there.

Seems like some people just like to say I told u so, boring. I'm just relaying what I know, of course if he was to go to any massive brand it would be adidas, he wore there gear as a junior and has wore there shoes for most of his senior playing days. Its all spec now, the one thing is for sure, he is defo considering k swiss very much so to the point where he is trying there gear and in talks with them so for ppl to say it will never happen is just stupid. Personally, I think adidas would be a right move but who knows what he wants to do. Could end up still being in fred perry for the rest of the year till he gets the deal he wants

I really liked Murray in Fred Perry. It just seemed to fit him well plus I really like the brand in general. I caught his Fred Perry wristband at the last USO and I have to say it is the nicest wristband I have ever seen. It feels weird he is switching but if I was getting paid like that I would switch too or make Adidas or Nike pay me more.
