Annoying chit-chat during changeovers...

I must be doing this tennis thing wrong. I almost always carry on a conversation during matches.

This is all good in social fun doubles or singles, but in USTA match, it breaks my concentration too much so I just don't like that. I even moved to opposite side of this guy in the court but he chased me there and set down his bags....LOL

I despise playing against friends in competitive matches-just hate it!! It’s burned me many times with chit chat during changeovers. It’s gamesmanship which I won’t take part in anymore. When you play competitive matches be it usta or singles ladder league there are no friends with this.

You need to work on your concentration.

What happens with other distractions: barking dogs, screaming kids, a parade of Harleys, other court's balls always rolling on to your court, people talking, etc?

I suppose as soon as you sit down you could put your headphones on and put a towel over your head. Or run off the court to make an imaginary phone call. Or get into the full lotus position and start meditating and chanting.

barking dogs ?? I just stop play and call timeout and wait out the noise. actually that earphone idea is a good one. when that guy start talking, I will put on the earphone..............LOL
