Are tennis pros allowed to take a pain killer to let them continue a match?

why not let them take whatever they want, whenever... tennis is in the viewership hole anyway.. spice things up a bit. Tennis already has a problem with PEDs.. this is the face..

Nsaids suck. They poison your liver. Opioid pain medicines are much healthier by themselves. If you become an addict, then the addict lifestyle is not healthy. Losing 30 pounds and not brushing your teeth because youre a degenerate addict is obviously not good for your health, but opiates themselves are not toxic to your body. Everybody sees addicts who look like towels and they assume the opiates are making them look so unhealthy. Its not the drugs. Its the drugs/addict lifestyle that comes along with it.

What are some opioid pain medicines? Vicodin? I guess all need prescription.

I remember some years ago Rafa saying he'd take an inbuprofen every night. Which is not very healthy... wonder how long he did that, or if he still does it. And how common it is.

who's uninformed?
You are. For thinking serena must be roiding. She needs alot of muscle to be able to gyrate and carry around those wide hips. Wide hips are a huge disadvantage in most sports. They cause knee instability and more effort needs to be given to go through motions and swings. Its pretty impressive serena can carry so much extra weight and still dominate. She needs alot of muscle to do that tho, which is why her body adapts and fools like you think shes on roids

I dont quite understand
What you said in your last paragraph. What are you asking sir?
The idea behind the TUE is to give a chance to people who have conditions which would normally prevent them from competing, or competing at a satisfactory level.

Imagine some super talented kid has some degenerative disease, and the medicine for his condition is banned under WADA rules. He can't just stop taking his medicine, so the moral debate is whether a person who needs banned substances should be allowed to compete while taking those banned substances. Seems like an easy yes.

A different example would be someone with asthma. That person can have all the talent in the world, but if he/she can't breathe properly and needs an inhaler (which is banned under WADA), there's no way that person can play at a professional level. But here comes the tricky part. If the asthma is mild, that person might be able to function pretty well without an inhaler, but would definitely benefit from it. Is it moral to let a person who suffers from asthma used banned substances to compete with players who don't require/are not allowed to use those substances? Where do we draw a line between people who have and don't have asthma? People without asthma can benefit from inhalers for training, which is what a lot of athletes end up doing: getting TUEs for asthma when athletes don't have asthma. And the prevalence of TUEs seem to indicate that the system is being abused.

So the idea behind TUEs seems morally just to me, but the way they are being used doesn't.

Vicoden is commonly given to kids after their wisdom teeth are removed. It is 5 mg hydrocodone mixed with acetominophen (tylenol) in a pill. lortab is the same but with 10 mg of hydrocodone. In my opinion hydrocodone is a much cleaner feeling than the feeling you get from oxycodone. Percocet is oxycodone mixed with tylenol. Oxycontin, the one everybody hears about, is straight oxycodone. I personally cant stand oxycodone. It makes my eyes feel like they are swelling up and i get a headache and feel much more muddy and ****ed up mentally compared to hydrocodone. Based on my experiences with hydrocodone, i would almost consider it performance enhancing because it makes you feel in the zone mentally. I still think it needs to be readily available to pro tennis players though, because the show must go on and if one player is forced to retire in the middle of a close final because of back pain, it would be a disaster and ruin the whole tournament. I was an addict for years and now im on methadone, which has been going great. Fyi methadone is a synthetic opioid medicine that is long lasting and is given to addicts to make them feel sustained and comfortable so they dont use. I would describe methadone as a feeling akin to having a caffeine buzz that lasts all day and doesnt make you jittery. If any of you have a friend or family addicted to opiates i highly recommend them checking into a methadone clinic. It may save their life. Because when you take methadone you have a high tolerance so methadone patients who go do heroin or fentanyl on top of their methadone are actually much less likely to overdose than a person who is clean and has no tolerance. The higher methadone boosts your tolerance, the harder it is for you to overdose if you relapse. In my opinion addicts should all be persuaded to get on methadone to save their lives. People are dying every day. Ive had like 5 of my friends kick the bucket who would probly still be here if they had gotten on methadone.
But enough about that.
Im a certified medication assisted treatment advocate if any of you have any questions.

and you truly believe this lousy explanation?
or the girl had plenty of it on her lips?
Its ********, but as long as they were doing it recreationally and not using it to speed up reaction time in a match i think coke should be allowed. But in a match coke is def a ped so it should be banned from the matches

1. the explanation is lousy
2. so how comes you can assume that it was for recreation and not for speed if the explanation is so lousy?
3. in this case, why not change the rule and say that using substances 1 + 2 + 3 is OK for recreation, but don't use them for training

Using it in training wouldnt help. Coke would only help if you took it before /during a match. I think if a player tested positive while they were in the middle of a tournament you should dq them. But if they test positive after a vacation in mexico they obv were taking it for recreation and shouldnt be punished. Tennis pros are rock stars, and they should be allowed to party like rock stars.

except that the test wasn't taken after a vacation in Mexico.
if I remember well it was taken after one competitive match.
