Fererro is 6'0" or 6'1"

Roddick is 6'2"

Baghdatis is 6'1"

Murray is 6'1"

Blake 6'1'' (185 cm)

Stepanek 6'1'' (185 cm)

Gonzo 6'0'' (182 cm)

Nieminen 6'1'' (185 cm)

Courier 6'1'' (185 cm)

Also, count me in the 6' 1" club. :D

Seems to be not a bad height for tennis players. ;)

Aussieland girls are tall!!!

That is so true. When I used to go to Australia a lot, I was very surprised at the sheer numbers of very tall women all over the place. I swear at least half of the women I saw were 5' 10" or taller!! Lots were 6 feet or taller!! It was like the land of Amazon women or a supermodel breeding factory or something. ;)

184cms here, which, according to Andres, is 6'0 and 1/3 of an inch... 6'1'' would be good I guess. Taller players on the ATP always seem to get hurt, besides being slower: Safin, Philipoussis, Kuerten, Norman, Rosset, Enqvist, Karlovic, Ivanisevic, Krajicek,... Maybe it's only because they don't work out enough at the gym to protect their joints? Or maybe being that tall is really a disadvantage considering all the pounding the body takes everyday on the ATP (hard courts and all).

Actually, according to my calculations, 184 cm = 6 feet and 0.441 inches or about 6 feet and 1/2 inch.

See...you should all just switch to metrical system.

We can say our height here without needing to have a masters degree in maths  (Or ar least without having to use decimal numbers LOL)

The metric system was pretty hot here in the States in the late seventies. Very sensible. A lot of us actually started to learn it in elementary school. Then, the concept of change totally lost steam (except maybe if you live near the border, but I do not know for sure). I've retained a little, but not enough.

Now, you're either a scientist or a Canadian if you know it.

184 centimeters are 6.036745 feet.

Hmmm....I see you weren't a math major in school. ;) LOL

Yes, 184 cm = 6.036745 feet, but 0.036745 feet = 0.441 inches.

To calculate, 0.036745 feet x 12 inches/feet = 0.441 inches.

Another way to calculate is: 184 cm / 2.54 cm/inch = 72.441 inches. 72 inches = 6 feet, so what's left is 0.441 inches. So 184 cm = 6 feet and 0.441 inches. Rounding up gives you 6 feet and 1/2 inch.

OK, that will be $100 for your math lesson today. ;) LOL

You see!?
All that stuff just to say "I'm 184 cm" ???
CroSen already agreed with me. You americans should adopt metric system

Besides, do you know how much an Ivy League education costs nowadays? ;) LOL

I'm 6'1", it definitely helps with angles and serves and reaching for balls... but , I'm one of the goofiest, most uncoordinated people in my school. (tennis and squash are the only sports I can play well)

Never, ever would have guessed that from a guy called magilligan!:D

When asked for an ideal height (for anyone, not necessarily tennis) Abraham Lincoln opined that the perfect height was tall enough sothat when one stood up one's feet reached the ground. Hence I believe I am the ideal height. (I'm 6'4')

Great line. Great man.

Wonder what sort of wisdom he had about the ideal theater.

I'm 5 10. Surely it would be better to be taller ( I'd cert prefer it.) Saying that, how tall is Andre A?

I think I may be one inch shorter (without her heels) than the girl I plan on asking out. Let's see if height becomes the critical factor

too tall and you can't get low slices and movement probably isn't as good, but too short and your serve, defense against lobs kinda suffers.\

this is all pro lvl though

Oh, that big guy can't move stuff is one of the myths of tennis. I stand right close to 6'5" and never have had any problems with movement. I move better then most of the guys close to my age simply because of foot speed and balance. The only real disadvantage I've ever on the court has been trying to bend my knees to get low enough on certain balls. I would not really wish to be any shorter, unless we are talking about trying to drive and ride in most cars.

I'm 156 cm without shoes... Is that about 5'5" or 5'6"? I think that a cool height would be about 5'11"... Not too short, not too tall.

6' 3" 225lbs. (all muscle). I look more like a linebacker than a tennis player (played Div 1 football). Just about every guy that I've played against comments to me after the match (win or lose) how surprised they were with my speed and quickness, considering how big I am.

I'm 6'-0" (183 cm), 175 lbs. (79 kg or 12.5 Stone to our UK pals), kinda long-limbed too.

Always felt like I was a good size for the sport. Always was jealous of taller players than I, at least when they were on serve. Having a few extra inches of reach/height is a natural advantage when serving, and when covering net (reach) and fielding lobs (reach + height), but a liability elsewhere. I remember seeing some really tall (Karlovic-sized guys) play in the late 80's and early 90's: Milan Srejber of Czechoslovakia was 6'-8" and served some amazing bombs, but was so clumbsy elsewhere that his ATP career never took off. I remember seeing a Swedish guy (forgot his name) playing for Fresno City college in the 1991 NorCals. He was at least 6'-8" and his serve, too, was as though it was coming from the roof of a two-storey house. However, he couldn't hit a half-volley if his life depended on it! (I luckily bowed out in the early rounds, so I didn't have to play against this Goliath!)

I think a guy around 6'-4" with the right build and flexibility would be ideal. Think Goran Ivanisevic, but with improved fitness between the ears!
