With height, there also comes with wingspan. Taller players have better reach on wide shots, too.
With proper footwork, taller players also have longer strides on the run, so the shear speed is better.
The disadvantage is probably the quickness.
Although if you are too tall, your hand-eye coordination can be hindered.

I remember seeing some really tall (Karlovic-sized guys) play in the late 80's and early 90's: Milan Srejber of Czechoslovakia was 6'-8" and served some amazing bombs, but was so clumbsy elsewhere that his ATP career never took off.

I remember watching a DC doubles match where Milan Srejber and Peter Korda played Slobodan Zivojinovic and Goran Ivanisevic. It ought to be the tallest match-up ever in doubles, at that level anyway.

Srejber - 6'8" (203 cm)
Zivojinovic - 6'6" (198 cm)
Ivanisevic - 6'4" (193 cm)
Korda - 6'3" (190 cm)

I'm 6'4 (probably another inch at best to go) but I always wanted to be 6'8. There are a lot of people that would love my height but I still wish I was taller. I have a 6'6 wingspan so that helps

im 5'6-5'7 but i would love to be 5'11 or 6'0..

not only for tennis but for over all body/self image. Taller men are lucker with the ladies.

5'10, I'd love to be a few inches taller to get some more leverage on my serve.

5'12'' here.

I wish I was little bit taller,
I wish I was a baller
I wish I had a girl who looked good
I would call her
I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat
and a '64 Impala

I'm 5'9, and really wish I was taller, just in terms of vanity....I'd trade a few inches from my lady pleaser for height if I could, it would still leave me with more than enough ;)

I'd like another 2 to 3 inches for tennis but I'm fine at 5-10+ for everything else. I cheat with an XL racquet.

5'10" and a penny......
For tennis, I'd like another 5", with wingspan wider than my height.
For motocross (which I invested heavily in for over 6 years), perfect height.
For surfing (lower level California 4A and California big wave rider), I"m close to perfect at 5'10" and 138 lbs. Contest surfing is mostly small waves, so lightweight is good. Big wave surfing is power, paddle, and taking the big hits, so bigger is better, but Jock Sutherland was lighter than me.
For snowboarding, can't be more perfect, even now at 150 lbs.
For fun bike riding, any more weight slows me down in endurance or hill climbing, so close enough.

I'm 5'10 also.. didn't want to be taller until I started following tennis very closely.. then you here fans and commentators mentioning height every second, gets annoying. But I would only want 3 inches more for tennis, in other areas of life, I am completely comfortable with it.

I always wished I could be 5'10" and 150 lbs., since I was 14 anyways, when I was 5'1" and 99 lbs.
At 5'10", I could just struggle into a 125 GP road racing bike. One inch more, and I'd need to remove the padding on the seat.
Racing 125 motocross, that height would keep one under 140 lbs., light enough to get holeshots even at Pro levels.
And flipping in a snowboard halfpipe, taller rider's did tend to have more problems with balance, until Shawn White came along. But I"ve watched him from a 4'2" tyke until he turned 17.
Sure, playing tennis, taller is better.
But even bike riding, if you're 6'3", you need a 60 cm road bike, and that is minimal with a full race bent over position.
5'10" is good, but not for tennis, nor dating Ivanovic or Sharapova. Imagine, Maria with heels would be right around 6'8" tall. With platforms, she'd be taller than Dwight Howard.

God, I've thought about it. Her in heels. Imagine it.. an absolute giant. Dimitrov has probably legit considered platforms, even though he is 6'3

Avg height (5-9 to about 6-1) is best. If you are going to be a pro, then taller is better.
Taller guys are clumsy and have more foot, hip, joint issues as they age. This is from my own personal experience, and my friends, and my son and nephew who are likely to be 6-3+.

The prettiest Chinese woman I ever met was maybe 4 feet 10 at most. Why God did not give her the genes to be taller is cruel, she should have been a model.

This is another interesting take of the same subject.
It was more popular than similar thread around similar start date.
It's like we can't tell which products will be more successful beforehand.

I could never get over of being so close to 6 feet, without reaching that threshold. It will always be that 40-15 moment coming back to haunt me time after time.
When I was a kid I wanted to be 6'3 or 6'4'.
Ended up about 182cm. (like you, just shy of 6')

Funnily, a few years ago, I was in a waiting room and a guy asked me how tall I was, and I told him I was a hair under 6'. I was probably 1.5 -2 inches taller than him. He said, "There's no way you're under 6 foot. I'm 6'1" and you're taller than me!"

Was Carlos Alcaraz the guy you met in that waiting room?

I've grown up hitting my head on the ceiling of buses, and getting severely cramped in public transport, the worst being 12 hour rides in the Himalayas, and transatlantic flights in Lufthansa.

But there is this:

While the threading trends may drive you to distraction...

They do give you a purpose.
