I think they will need some getting used to, but it's nice having that plush feeling of FFs, and the arch support from the new insole, I feel my first step is going to be so much better in these ... can't wait to take them to court (tomorrow). Ordering another pair... $99 is just too good a price for these

That new Orthotic will raise you heel higher off the ground in the shoe than insole that the shoe come in. So check it out and see if that compromises the ankle stability in anyway. Only way is to play tennis in them, jumping high for overheads and making lightening quick cuts for the volleys at net... Played 2 more sets today in my FF's, I haven't been so excited about a pair of shoes in a long time. These guys are just fantastic. Fast, comfy, supportive. Played 2 more sets today in my FF's, I haven't been so excited about a pair of shoes in a long time. These guys are just fantastic. Fast, comfy, supportive. They many not be perfect for you, but they are for me. So thrilled.

what about energy return. did you think shoes gave back energy when you step and give you powerful 1st step ??

The orthotic I got doesn't really raise the heel. I have very high arches, and I most definitely needed that extra support. Now I can easily make sharp pushing off the inside of the feet which lately was hurting me in the Barricades (ever with Superfeet Orange insoles)

did you feel like cushioning in FF shoes was giving you energy back ?

I played a long competitive match in the Court FF's today. There was not even a hint of knee pain, and the GR6 would normally give me some knee pain at the end of a match like the one I just played. I think the cushioning in this shoe is much better than the Gel Res. It feels more cushioned and the results seem to be better thus far. I do feel some bounce to it. I'm not going to say that it makes me any faster or more explosive (I don't think there's any shoe that will), but at least I don't get the stuck in the mud feeling. I think this shoe is going to replace the Barricade Boost as my game day shoe. It seems to do everything that the Barricade Boost does, but it's more comfortable and the fit in the heel area is more secure. The heel area was a weak point with the GR6 but it's a strong point for the Court FF. I thought the traction on clay was going to be a little bit of a problem like it was with the GR6, but it wasn't. The traction on hard surfaces is excellent. Too bad it won't last as long as the GR6 or the Barricade. I don't know whether to blame Asics for that or to blame Nike for setting the expectation that super expensive shoes will have poor durability as well!

The booty construction does have some interesting consequences. I once looked down at my shoes and noticed that my left laces were untied and I played the point without knowing it! It's unfortunate that a shoe in this price category has seemingly cheap thin laces, but at least when the laces come undone, you can probably play the point out and not miss a step. For some players I think the laces will be unnecessary. They are just there to tighten it up a bit. The fit is looser now than when I first got it. I don't know if the material is stretching or the booty is compressing, but either way it does loosen up. So if you think the fit is a little tight at first, that probably means it's going to be just right.

So far, I'm really impressed with this shoe. I liked the GR6 except for the heel slippage and the cushioning, and this shoe completely fixed both problems while still being soft, comfortable, and stable like the GR6. The GR6 might have the edge in stability, but overall it's no contest for me. I'll be very upset if the cushioning compresses and gets worse over time, but I'm pretty optimistic because of Asics' reputation with FlyteFoam running shoes. I hope we keep seeing discounts when the colorways get old, because I'm not going to pay $179 for my next tennis shoe.

Do you think this is better than Barricades Boost in Energy return on the feet. That is a big selling point on Boost shoes by Adidas. they say those tiny boost foam bubbles returns energy better than any other cushioning thus making your feel and leg less tired over a long match and easier to get going on the 1st step

Crazy light Boost ?? Adidas Boost Barricades are 15.2 oz where as FF shoe is only 13.6 oz. Anyway, yes, if you felt more give with Court FF then it is giving you more Energy return, meaning more bounce back on your feel and helping you push off and making your movement less tired.

Since we can't measure energy return, it's just a subjective evaluation anyway. I'm pretty happy with the heel cushioning on both the Barricade Boost and the Court FF. On clay?? Red or green? I've been wanting Asics to come out with this shoe in a clay version since their release but they only seem willing to do so for David Goffin. The regular sole of these doesn't look suitable for clay at all? Seems like it wouldn't grab the dirt at all and slip around like skates.

I played with it on green clay. I know the outsole looks like it won’t grip any better than the all court Gel Res on clay, but for some reason I think it does grip better. I have no complaints so far with the traction.

You guys can both slide-stop comfortably without slipping? I may try these then since they're on sale and if they don't work on clay, save them for hard. Love the Speed 3s but they narrow up in the forefoot so much now and these apparently are the perfect remedy for that problem.

No issues for me either, and I've worn the Gel Res 6 and had issues with them on clay. As for the forefoot, I think they will fit a good variety of players. They might run longer than the SS3. I sized down a half size. I don't think you'll be disappointed with these!

Different kinds of cushioning. Boost by a whisker. I personally liked ff.

The light weight of ff sealed the deal for me.

So should I buy 1/2 size smaller like TW recommends or just buy my normal size ?? I do put in my custom orthotic which is kind of thicker than normal inserts.

I had 9 Zoom Vapors, 9 Barricades and 9 FFs ... FFs may just be .25 larger, but the way it hold my foot in is just perfect, so given the orthotic, I'd say stay with true size

I'd go with true size. I went true size and they felt a little long with my normal socks. With Nike Elite or thicker socks, they are perfect for me. I'm about 12 sets into my first pair and still a honeymoon for me.

After tryinig to love these shoes I could not. I am between sizes. The 10 was nice and snug but was causing me pain on my heels. Almost too locked for me I guess. The 10.5 was too long no doubt. It's all good anyway. I put them through the standing test. Standing on tile for most of the day. Don't laugh, my SfX2's and Princes hold up. My feet ached after a day with these. They are designed for speed and cushion in my opinion. Great for most, but not for me. The SFX2's fit my feet easier as well.

What do you think about buying a regular oval shoe laces and replacing that thin cheap lace that the shoe comes with ?? I have a feeling that shoe lace will never stay tied. do you think thicker oval lace will cause problems in the hole. not sure if those holes in the shoe is smaller than other Nike shoe holes ??

Honestly, with these shoes you don't even need laces ... the ones that come with are just fine.
(I also have a bunch of laces from my old shoes, I don't give a damn about color)

I'm going to add my endorsement for these shoes. I ordered a pair of the green/blue ones on clearance at TW. I've now played with them three times. I just placed an order for another two pair to get them while they are still available for $99.

Cushioning is very good, particularly the heel. The forefoot cushioning less so. I love the tongueless design and the way they grip my ankles. I'm a bigger guy (6'4", 220lbs) with gimpy knees, so I usually buy shoes with maximum padding and avoid light weight shoes. However, I took a chance on these based on the reviews and the clearance price and am glad I did.

I ordered my normal size and am happy with the fit. There is some excess space in the toe, but the rest of the show fits so well that the little bit of extra space in the end doesn't bother me. My foot is a little narrower than average, but not enough to buy narrow shoes. I didn't have much trouble getting my feet in the shoes.
