I'm a little surprised that the K88 didn't at least get an honorable mention as it is clearly a Pro Staff - I suppose it is more of a "special edition" than part of the lineage...

Well... the kPS88 actually falls out of the traditional Pro Staff 6.0 specs. Its balance was much more head heavy.

I strongly agree as it was the K-Pro Staff 88 - I couldn't see any difference in head size between my K90s and KPS88s. It had your typical characteristics - moderate stiffness, leather grip, PWS, 90 sq in. I'm happy to have moved on to bigger headsizes myself but I do remember the feeling of both the K90s and KPS88s and the KPS88 had that raw feeling that felt so great (but it wasn't so great for your arm).

Yeah, but I'm sure that you could find one fairly HL by looking through a batch. I had a couple of stock KPS88s that had lower static weight than my K90s.

The K88 is part of the K-Factor product line that is already mentioned on that diagram.

The diagram, and the version number on the new racquets refers to the product line generation of the Pro Staff and not specific models within it. So the new 2016/2017 Pro Staff line is the 11th generation of the Pro Staff line.... hence the "v11.0" on the racquet.

Peter,

Basically looking for something like an 18x16 Steam 99S, or a 97 inch Six.One 95S. Hope that makes sense. Again, truly appreciate all your answers and inputs.

I'm with you. I would like a 97 inch Six.One 95S. I haven't tried the 97S, but I don't expect it to be anywhere close with its thin beam and more flex and different balance.

I took a Pro Staff 97 LS and added a leather grip and some weight in the hoop, so that it was close to the 95S specs. It was pretty good, but still not as solid feeling as the 95S.

The current (original) PS97S is not head heavy. It is 3 pts HL unstrung and about even balance strung. The new one will be 6 pts HL unstrung and about 3 pts HL strung, depending on what strings you use. Granted neither are as HL as the PS85 or other PS iterations that I can recall, so I get your point there, for sure.

Without knowing how much weight is transferred from the hoop to the handle with 3 pts differential(from 3HL to 6HL), if that much loss translates to less stability/plowthrough given such low static weight as it is, I'd prefer it to stay as it is. All I need to do as many others have is just to add 10grams under the cap.

just my 0.02

I just want an all-black PS90, still.

...or any sort of special edition PS90.

PS90 is love, PS90 is life.

Hi Peter and Nathan

I'm an old time Pro Staff fan, and I'm a bit worried because apparently there will be no more new mid versions of the PS

From the new line I only playtested the new 97, and did not like it, just doesn't feel like a PS, more like a Blade

Is the PS 95 line dead with the end of the 6.1's ?

Thank you guys

I'd stock up on the old ones where you can find them if that's the way you want to go. I've stocked up on what I'm comfortable and I could be good for another five years. I'm open to different frames, of course, but, if you really feel that you want something in particular, then stock up for a decade or so.

The Pro Staff line consists of the 97 sq in frames. Like you I've played with Pro Staffs for years. The 97S has to me the closest feel to some of the older generation Pro Staffs. It's the racquet I play with mainly. I'd give that a try and see how it suits your game.

Haven't you guys heard? Human eye-hand coordination has been deteriorating with each successive generation.   :D

I think that it's getting better, especially the way players are handling the monster serves of the giants playing tennis these days. Did you watch Kyrgios beat Isner? Kyrgios was returning a lot of serves that were over his head. That other guy that Isner played, Opelka, is 6' 11" and I expect huge serves from him someday. Then Andy Murray vs Raonic at W and against Isner and Karlovic earlier this year.

And you have guys like Sverev hitting bullets as well but still getting beaten by some of the older players.

Kyrgios is also one of the most physically gifted player we have on the tour though. I need to stress the word "physically", and nothing else with Kyrgios.

I don't know whether to use "we get it" or "just stop it." You choose. I'll use the other one the next time you make a snide comment about a 97" frame.

I'm with you on that. I love my box beamed 90's too, but there's nothing wrong with the sport gearing towards to these bigger frames either.

I also live a box beamed 90. Have a K Factor Six One Tour in the bag right now. Great stick. I also love the RF97 and the Babs PC swirly. They're all a blast. Just in different ways. Scalpel versus Boom Stick.

That's the spirit. But you can't help but crave a mid or 95 in the lineup

edit - sorry this is a Wilson thread so I'll stick to Wilson

Looking forward to getting one of the new RF97's. Love the PJ and lineage

I've had the previous version and they are nice but will likely hit with the KPS88 and K90 when I'm not using the Ultra XP 100S

if it's from my post i didn't mean to start anything.. i know breakpoint is very adamant about using smaller racquets & i think he has a point they're probably more accurate & precise.. anyway, back to the RF97 discussion...

It was more your post about Fed switching. Not your fault, but its derailed many, many threads. Haha.

The paintjob design looks great, except for the all red buttcap. Any chance there would be a mid release refresh with the predominantly white buttcap with red Wilson W? That would make it a complete tribute to the original Pro Staff 85 and making it a full circle. o_Oo_Oo_O

Does TW sell the old 90 buttcaps? If so, then folks could have their pick of red, white or black. Just take the old one off and put on the one that you like.

They currently sell the previous black/silver one that SCSL likes, the knobby spin one, and the smart sensor ones with chromed plastic for the trap door. All will fit.

Mailmen must have herniated many discs delivering all the angry correspondence when Wilson discontinued the Standard Ultra 65 and only had midsize 80-85in models. That was a 23-30% increase in size vs the 8% from the PS90 to PS97.

Well, I did stock up over the years, I have 6 of my favourite PS's (6.0 95) with spare bumpers/grommets, and a few 6.1's

And I still buy some nice 95's from time to time - I just got a Dunlop Bio m 2.0 almost new, should be here tomorrow

Thanks Peter, I already read some comments about the "S" version being the closest to the old generations PS's, but I have serious doubts with the lack of weight (a light racket with added weight is different to a racket being heavy from the factory) and the big head-size

The end of the 85/90/95 head sized PS's are bad news for me, I recently searched for 98 sq.i. racket with a classic feeling, or at least not hollow and stiff like most of the rackets sold today, after a few tests and bad decisions, I ended with a Dunlop Aerogel 4D 300 Tour

I simply cannot play the way I like with a bigger racket, and I shank a lot more with those

If I have the chance to try one I would like to, but I'm from Portugal, it's not easy to get a test rackets here, I would also love to try the RF since there's so many lovers and hatters of this model, that makes me curious about it

I'm a bit sad, but thanks anyway
