Babolat will keep doing their hybrid “VS” frames. Comparing to the pure aero vs (pretty much a aero storm) and pure strike vs (pure storm/pure control), the pure drive vs will be a brand new frame with pure drive 2018 throat and likely same beam as other VS. Which means it’s a 98 pure drive. Wow.

I saw on the IG of Tennis_Tuning, he had posted some pictures of the racket being strung. I guess Babolat had him take down the pics as they are deleted. "It looked very nice though. The silver color through out the racket definitely sets it apart from the regular PD.

Yeah this is the Fognini 98" PD I heard about
Looks like Fognini is not using a 98 PD. At least not the VS series beam. Based on the pictures of his real racket is most likely an old1994-2002 PD 100

crap..just bought 2 of the new PA...now must save my pennies for this new one...
98...woo hoo
The new PA is not that "new" cuz its still the same frame. PD VS is a brand new frame which is obviously more excited lol

I have a pure aero vs and in the past a pure storm...

But I'm curious about the differences of the vs racquets (aero, strike and now the drive). Probably all play more or less the same?

The aero vs is similar to aero storm, and the strike vs is similar to pure storm/ pure control because they are pretty much same frame. For pure drive VS this time there’s no comparison really because there’s not a frame similar to it. But it’s the same concept as other VS

Thanks for posting. First read the rumors 1-2 years ago, at this point I didn't think the racquet was actually coming. RA might still be a bit high, but I think I'll give it a try when it comes out.

Yeah I’ve been heard a lot about PD98 as well. When David Ferrer signed with Babolat I think that’s when the rumor came out. The RA is a bit high comparing to other VS but since the headsize is smaller I guess we can try full bed poly with low tension to soften up the feel.

The stiffness of 70 RA is unstrung. Most probably will be a couple of points lower. 67-68 RA.
Will come also with 18-20 string pattern?

Wonder how differently this will play from the pure strike. The two were pretty close already imo

It depends one the beam. PO7 has a thicker beam like a pure drive that’s why they play quite similar. If the PDVS uses the storm beam, it will have a different feel.

dont be sorry. the pa vs was so low powered and just a compl diff animal to the reg pa.
i would like to see a pd 18x20 pattern.. 100sq inch head. that would be a real in between variance.

I don’t think PO7 plays anywhere like a pure drive.
Also, the pure drive beam goes from 23-26 mm.
PO7 goes from 21-23 mm.

PO7 plays like a player’s racket while I feel that the pure drive is a tweener.

Of course. But this did get me thinking...are TW's stiffness ratings for unstrung or strung frames? I believe they measure the unstrung specs.

Even something like the DR98 which has a slightly higher RA (67 unstrung I think?) can give me some small problems if I'm playing a lot. My arm tends to feel worse if I'm hitting a lot of serves. 70 unstrung might be too much. Although as I mentioned in another post, I was playing with my old PDR with super dead poly a bit over the summer, and I didn't really have any issues with wrist/arm pain. I originally did stop playing with it because my arm couldn't take the bad vibrations anymore.

I doubt they'd release an 18x20 version, but a heavier tour definitely seems likely.

We just saying comparing to pure storm/control and original pure strike, PO7 plays much like a PD. Also actually I’m talking about the thickness of the beam, not the width as you mentioned

It looks interesting. At least it pretty lightweight. 98” headsize 16x19. I didn’t like the PA VS at all though.

Why not? I’m thinking about get PA VS to replace my 2014 pure strike

Meanwhile that is the hottest paint job to date for this brand it would’ve been nice if they had made the pure drive this color way

It’s too low powered. Especially in stock form. Serves are slower etc etc

I heard that so I’m gonna put some lead bring the weight to 310 unstrung and put a poly around 45-48lbs

Some pore pics here. Looks like a pretty tight 16x19?

Awesome pull.
Yeah this is pretty much a carbon copy of the pavs.
The real play here is to play them side by side and see what the differences are.
At the end of the day there is nothing like the real thing though. Meaning why stray from the original 100 inch. That’s what these things were designed for. I know that when I served with the PA VS side-by-side with my PA it was laughable. The free points I could generate off of serve with the PA were suddenly gone with the villas. Could I have cultivated it and tweaked it To serve better maybe but every time I see someone using a VS playing against someone who is using the original all I could think in my head is this poor guy is bringing a knife to a gun fight

Hey. I wanted to ask you Your opinion. I know I said it before but I know that you are not afraid of an 18 x 20 pattern. Wouldn’t it be great if Babel t your opinion. I know I said it before but I know that you are not afraid of and 18 x 20 patterns. Wouldn’t it be great babolat came out with an 18x20 pure drive 100 inch head. So essentially the same beast of a pure drive that it is now but with an 18 x 20 pattern. I think this would really cross borders as far as control players being able to use the stick. And I would have way more power than the pure strike. 18 x 19 even better what are your thoughts is this something that you could see yourself and other pros using?

The differences are numerous aside from a 98 and a 100-inch head size.

Based on the new picture in that link, PDVS is not the same as PAVS cuz obviously on that picture it is not a storm frame. Looks like PDVS is just a 98 pure drive frame, nothing was hybrid like PSVS and PAVS. So probably gonna play like a 18/20 PD? lol

Awesome pull.... bringing a knife to a gun fight

Hmm I played with pa/apds but ultimately went back to the pure storm feeling with a pa vs. And indeed it's much lower powered but feels way way better. But still I understand your comment and sometimes I think of going back to something more powerfull/easy. I did step up my game with pa vs, just because i could swing out more easily.

Just bought a yones vcore sv 98 to try out.

Yeah I think so. I like the idea of an 18x19 or 16x20 better (for a 100”). If they gave it a string pattern like an 18x20 Blade or Prince TT100P it would be perfect. Head has tried but failed with the Speed Pro. The pattern is too tight, and also the racquet’s balance is off.

I love the idea but that 16*19 isn’t tight, it’s very open. Pity, but I guess they already have the aero/strike vs models.
