My 2hbh is more verstile and stronger than my forehand. I often hear the term "big forehand" but who on the ATP has a better backhand than their forehand?
Gasquet is probably the only player in this world who hits his backhand harder than his forehand........which by the way shows that he has really a problem with his forehand.
As good as his backhand could be,a player should always be able to hit a forehand harder than his backhand.....or else that means he has some huge problems with his forehand.

I've never seen anyone hit a backhand harder than Andre. Not sure which is better.. FH or BH, but he rips the BH.
Or an unbelievably good offensive backhand. His forehand isnt bad by any means, just not that reliable. He uses his backhand like a forehand, he hit far more winners of it against Roddick in the Wimbledon quarters than with his forehand, if I had to guess it'd be like a 5-1 ratio of backhand winners to forehand. Even just looking at it specifically, I've never seen a player hit that many winners with a backhand time and time again.

Why is that? Whats the reasoning behind it?
Yes, I would like to know too. With good form a 1hbh can be hit as hard if not harder than a forehand. Gasquet and Federer are just a couple of good examples.
You can get more of your body into the swing, using more muscles in a one handed backhand.
You can take Safin off that list, his forehand is his better shot and if the match was on the line he would probably choose to hit that over his backhand. He routinely steps around his backhand to his forehand to open up the court.
The reason you can get more power on a forehand if hit properly over a backhand is because of the rotation of the hips and shoulders. Top pro forehands are hit easily over 100mph, but the fastest backhands are struck in the mid 90's at best. More mph means you can do more damage. Simple really.
The reason most women prefer the backhand over the forehand is simply because of poor technique on the forehand side.

I'd be surprised if a professional tennis player can hit his backhand harder than his forehand. It has to do with the motion of the swing. People "pull" on their arms when they hit a forehand and "push" when hitting a backhand. Our body naturally has better leverage when pulling something than when pushing it. For example, you are able to rotate your hips a lot more when hitting a forehand than when you're hitting a backhand since you don't have to reach across your body to hit the ball, compromising the extent to which you can wind up your hip.
