Verdasco, Raonic, Karlovic, Dimitrov, Rubin, Paire and Ferrer.
RAFA?Verdasco, Raonic, Karlovic, Dimitrov, Rubin, Paire and Ferrer.
I consider Nadal to be the most talented clay court player ever. Federer was a talent, but he only tasted success when he developed his game and curved his mental issues. Even if people do consider mental strength as a talent (I don't), Nadal never had these things. I think Djokovic was also as big, maybe a bigger talent than Federer. Hewitt tasted success at a younger age than Federer but wasn't more talented - he just moved better than anyone and competed harder than everyone at that time.
I can also say Monfils maybe a bigger talent than Djokovic. That statement is LOL.
One can say Novak plays error free tennis as compared to Fed and likely has more endurance/mental strength. You cannot go any farther. The range of shots that Fed can execute are 25X times that Novak can do.
djoker only makes fewer errors than peak Fed did on slow hard.I can also say Monfils maybe a bigger talent than Djokovic. That statement is LOL.

Clearly doesn't know what talent is.......
Not worthy to shine Federer's shoes.Cahills, etc.
Nadal: Better forehand, backhand, speed, return. Even volleys not clear cut enough for McEnroe not to say Nadal is better there, too.
Djokovic: Better forehand, backhand, speed, return.
Murray: Better backhand, speed, return, serve power.
Berdych: Better forehand, backhand, return, serve power.
Tsonga: Better forehand, backhand, serve power. Similar talent at net.
Niskikori: Better forehand consistency, backhand, speed, return.
Cilic: Better forehand power, backhand, similar footwork despite huge size disadvantage, serve power, return.
Wawrinka: Better serve power, forehand, backhand, not far behind net game-wise based on carrying their 2008 Olympic doubles team. Moves about as well.
Dimitrov: Better serve power, forehand, backhand, better touch at net, speed/quickness.
Gulbis: Better serve power, backhand, potential forehand power if he'd go back to the old way he hit it.
Monfils: Better serve power, forehand power, backhand, speed.
So Federer may be around the 12th most talented player on the ATP tour. Not bad, I guess...but not worth the oohs and ahhs.
"Poor man's Santoro"?I remember this guy! LOL! Tsonga with a better forehand hand tserve? Lmao
I agree OP, Fed being the most talented is just a huge myth. Most people here misconstrue real talent with the fancy, ballerina-like antics that Roger often displays. Roger is actually one of the hardest workers on the tour, not really all that talented at all.
Indeed. A guy like Nadal is actually one of the most talented players I've ever seen. And Fed right now is at his peak, it's just that the competition is much stronger. Being a scrappy junkballer just won't work for Fed anymore with this fierce competition.Yeah, very true.
He's probably more of a junkballer nowadays especially with his slice which sits up and asks to be spanked away. Talents like Nadal have learnt how to handle that slice very effectively.
Tough to compare players' styles directly, but Federer's kind of a faster version of Simon with a better serve.
We don't have accurate scale measuring talent one possess so it has been and always will be subjective debates.
I don't put Federer in his own top tier of talent as majority does getting influenced by his achievements. IMO, he's top tier talent I've seen and the players I could place in his tier with comparable talent are: Marat Safin, David Nalbandian, Grigor Dimitrov and Pete Sampras..

Ridiculous thread.

Hilarious thread. It's very obvious many people have no idea what "talent" is. Hard work, a hammer FH or a great serve is not talent. Talent is innate and something you're born with. It's like someone who has piano lessons for 30 years and becomes a competent pianist compared to a true talent who sits down and plays effortlessly after 3 months. In this context, Lendl was not especially talented but was #1 for 250 weeks through fitness, hard work and pure will.Active players more talented than Federer? ZERO.
Dustin Brown has some pretty incredible talent as well. The only current player who is spectacularly talented is Kyrgios, but he's not in Roger's league. The only other player I've ever seen who was truly unbelievably talented was McEnroe. He didn't need to work hard because he was simply in another league with pure talent. I hope nobody chimes in, "well, you can't even see talent, so what it is?" If you can't watch Mac or Fed and see their respective talents, then just move on.
I wish he had found that tremendous "game" in his Wimbledon match against Djoker. Had he bothered to display this ability, Fed would be sitting on 21 slams right now."My best game is just as good as Federer or Nadal's"
Good call, I agree.Dustin Brown has some pretty incredible talent as well.
More talented than Federer? A blatant Troll account designed to get .00001% of the attention they've been deprived of since age 2.2.Verdasco, Raonic, Karlovic, Dimitrov, Rubin, Paire and Ferrer.
