He choked against Murray in Brisbane (think he was serving for the 1st set).
In IW he served for the 1st set against Djokovic, only to serve 4 DFs, lose the TB, and the 2nd set 6-1.
Similar story in Miami against Murray only that he served 3 DFs instead of 4.
Today he served 1 only against Fed when serving for it so I guess it's an improvement. :lol:

If roger somehow manages to get by popisil with that lousy return game, then he surely will not get by Delpo. Delpo is playing much better than roger, no doubt

As a hater of the novak/murray grind fests, I gotta say this match did suck. The entire match was a race to who would choke first. When fed choked that final Dmitrov service game (he was up 0-30) i thought he was going to lose the match.
Lucky for him, baby-fed comically handed him the breaker... did he UE every single point? It sure seems like he did.

Fed is my favorite player and Dimitrov my favorite up and coming player so I was really looking forward to this match. The performance was pretty disappointing though. Lots of ue's/df's and a lot of choking at the important moments.
Every win Fed gets under his belt atm is good though, so I hope he will be able to build on this.

I think the fact is that Dimitrov unfortunately just isn't as talented as Federer -- I mean -- who is? However, he is quite talented in his own right. I think he really needs to sort out his awful movement and work on his competitive psychology.
Grigor appears to be a passionate/emotional guy like Roger, but unlike him I feel he doesn't quite have the same cocksure sense of belief in his own abilities and talent. Federer's emotional instability in his pre-prime days stemmed being upset and angry at not being able to consistently perform up to par -- striving for the perfection he KNEW he was capable of achieving -- an almost self-entitled sense of greatness.
Dimitrov OTOH seems to lack the same "confidence" and "self-belief" in himself that Federer possessed at his age -- which leads to him getting anxious and nervous in tight moments. Errors and foibles lead to him feeling demoralized... an opponent getting the better of him seems to make him jaded and manifests self-doubt, which inevitably leads to self-destruction.
Federer appears to have a "positive" and "active" emotional valence, while Dimitrov's emotional valence seems "negative" and "passive".

grigor is improving but..its a slow process.
at 22 in the world rank charts last time I looked he was a few hundred points adrift of top 20, so depending on who loses points this week and next, and depending how grigor plays in paris, he has maybe a small chance to finish in top 20 at year end rank.

One thing with these indoor faster matches (ball), is that you can tell immediately when the ball is struck if it's going in or hitting the net. Dimitrov was 1/10 on break points. He just didn't have the "self belief" to pull away (and he did have his chances to win either of 2 sets). Watching some longer rallies of the identical one handed backhands was interesting like a mirror. Then Fed just had enough and go for the kill like the champion he is. Short points as hell.
