Does Blake have a chance of even winning a set? These guys have played 3 times...most recently last Sunday in Indian Wells and Blake has never even been able to win a set. In James' defense, they have played 2 tiebreakers. Some of you guys might remember that tight match in Cincinnati last summer in which Roger won 7-6, 7-5. I like Roger in straight sets.

Yeah, I think that Blake might get a set. Federer can drop his level at times, and Blake is hot. Last week they met in a final, so Federer raised his game even more - I can see blake getting a set this week, or at least getting close to one...

...that said, I'm probably still voting for 2-0, it's the most likely result.

i'm for blake 2-1! he learned sth. playing fed just last week, so he'll have a better plan this time. down a set playing chela, he won the match still, so this blake dude now is hot and can play anyone. talking about weapons, his forehand is as good as, if not better than, fed's.

There is only one good match up against Fedex, and that guy lost early. Fed may be the most talented and skilled player of all time...nuff said

Not only will Blake not win a set, but I suspect a bagel may be on the cards too. Federer will carry on from that 3rd set at IW.

Federer 6-2 6-0 Blake.

Blake will NOT trouble Fed. He is playing better now than the latter rounds of Indian Wells last week. He will be on-game and not let Blake get more than a few games per set if he's lucky. And the assumption that Blake’s forehand might be better than Fed’s? Think again!

One thing i noticed is that the speed on Fed's serve has drop, i mean, its around 112 miles per hour, but i dont know why he doesnt serve harder then that, unless he takes some off it.

He wants to get into rallies to prepare for the french. He knows the speed of serve will be negated so he wants to earn the points from rallying with his opponent.

cliff notes: I HAVE NO CLUE

well... fed could just wake up one morning and... things could go the other way.
Fed 2-1. I guess.
Errr...no. Federer will wake up and decide that morning what the score will be.
Blake has ZERO chance of winning. ZERO.

Blake imo is one of just a handful of players with the talent to beat Federer, but sadly lacks the mental part, Federer's not only supremely talented but a very mental chess-like player. Trying to blow fed off the court at PLO was all the WRONG tactic and he needs to concentrate, play within himself, and use the plays that win him points, not just be a brute show-off. fed in 2

Federer will beat Blake, repeatedly, at least for the first half of this season. Blake will learn Fed's game eventually though. He'll get to Fed one day........"one day". ;)

Thanks.

If he wins today, he'll play Ljubo. It is going to be the weirdest warm up for a Davis Cup match I've ever heard of. :)

EDIT: ^^^This should've ended in Ancic/Nalby poll. How did it end up here? Mystery...

I'm starting to have doubts in my head whether Federer can beat Blake. I figure Blake is gonna go into the match without any pressure and just start going for his forehands. If he connects I can see him beating Fed in two.

Federer: 6-3 6-3.

Seems like Blake couldn't hold serve in Indian Wells. And Federer reached 100% level at one point in that Haas match, so he's feeling it.

I say Blake wins the first set only to watch Fed come back and 6-3 6-1 him. :)

Whoa wait a min....who am I kidding? Blake is scared of the Fed and has lost all confidence as he was demoralized the other week. Fed in straights. :D

Give the guy some credit. IMHO, I think Nadal or Blake has a good chance against Federer, but Nadal is outta the tournament.

James has too much respect & admiration for Roger...it's hard to beat someone you're in awe of. Federer 2-0 (-222)...bet the house.

I presume that they'll have a very rough first set which will end in like 7-5 either way. if Federer wins it, then the next set will be an easy 6-0 or 6-1 for sure.... if blake wins that tight first set, then Fed will take the next one 6-3 or some like that, and the third will be another beat down by Fed. no doubt.

then Semis is looking weak, neither Roddick nor Ferrer present much challenge for Federer ( either one will go home in less than an hour, no chance) so I'm guessing he's really starting to figure out what Nalbandian and Ljubicic are doing, as both have niggled him in the past.... specially Nalbandian.

But..... who knows, Blake might just do it... that'd be exciting!!!!

i do hope that blake win. than it will add a little more pop on the atp tour. just like when nadal defeated fed and so did nalbandian.

blake vs federer

I think Tchocky is right on the money. Blake has too much respect for Fed. He got so much talent though everybody has got to admire him ,right? He 's got the most amazing speed I've ever seen on a tennis court. Shout out to the ladies, Blake's Backside is incredible- He's got what I call a black backside, it is round and going places on an otherwise well toned body kinda like Will Smith also kinda like mine, every week I loose two pounds off it and it just decides to get rounder. I think as a black woman I just have to accept it. I also think that Blake has good mental capabilities , unlike other posters , look at how he responded in the Chelea match by slowing down and using a good mix of forehands(monsters) and some volleying- Everbody hould be cheering for him - he is hot!

I wonder why.. Is it something related to ankle or something? Can't think of any..

Blake might even win the match if he doesnt choke again like last time when he was up 4:1 in the first! I hope it's gonna be a great match! Routin' for blake cuz he is my man but so is Federer!

Mental match

At Indian Wells, Blake caved in after coming strong out of the gate. Toward the end of the first set, his game imploded. He was double-faulting and making little mistakes that killed him. You cannot let Roger get the mental edge because he's like a predator--once he has you in his claws--you're dead. At last year's French semifinal, Nadal never let him get the edge. You have to keep on battling and not give up.

if blake can get his first serves in then he has a chance. blake can volley, he has a great forehand, and a decent backhand, and great speed. their shouldn't be no reason why he couldn't get a win off of federer.

Now that he lost the first set, I think Blake will go down in the second set with a blowout scoreline. He played the best tennis of his life in the first set and Federer played sub-par.
