Citi Open - return of Nadal

Just the hair and the skinny body. Still funny when you tell others Nadal is playing Tsitsipas and they don't tell the difference.
6’4” and 196 is skinny? I’m not a Tsits fan and I’m straight but I really admire his physique.

Nadal played well for the whole match,Just the last game he was uncharacteristically nervous

Both his opponents played like top 10 level ( not the next gen top 10 level but true tennis top 10 levels ). Nasal fans just need to be concerned about his health, game is still on top
Jesus dude if you think that was Top 10 level tennis, we are far worse off than we thought…

For better or for worse clearly lol. People like him trip me out. I never come on here and insult people and my goal is simply to entertain. How a select few can manage to take me so seriously and be that pressed is hilarious. Like bruh if you can't handle gifs, hit that logout button
Lol dude. I thought I was the one who would troll and get on other people’s nerves while you were the Zen one! ;)

Huh ???? Oh yes, I see now you are a Rookie here. :)
That means he has a much better chance of having retained his sanity according to the many armchair Freuds on the forum. I can refer you to a dozen or more here who have questioned my mental health in a totally unsolicited manner.

Surely he has no chance of winning this tournament after that performance. Don't know how good Harris is but he could beat him. If not, Norrie or Nishikori will take him out.
I'll take your word for it. It would be funny if he lost to them and would make this post look really bad. He struggled against Sock who's barely played any matches. Norrie and Kori are better players and played much more recently. He has to get past Harris first though and he might not even manage that.
Guess I was right to be very skeptical of Nadal's chances. Couldn't even get past Harris, just like I thought there was a good chance it might not happen. 24 hours after a tough match, when he's injured and 35 years old. Too difficult for him to do.

Harris is a beast.

But, you must have missed the memo.
Fedal will never win another title.

Next gen can crush them now,
They are top 50 now.

This loss might turn out to be a good thing for Nadal, especially if his foot injury isn't fully cured. Still not sure playing this 500 was a good idea. He already played 3 hours in first round, again 2 today. Imagine he played 3 more matches like these and lost in Final or won the tournament... he would've been exhausted after 1 tournament and probably forced to withdraw from Toronto (theorically his best HC tournament). Then he would've played Cincinnati (not his favorite place + Djokovic/Zverev back)... not the ideal preparation for the USO, and winning a 500 with this poor level wouldn't change that. Now he has a few days to rest and has a good chance to go deep in Toronto. If he loses early he can still play Cincinnati. Masters1000 are clearly more important than this 500, regarding his chances for the USO.

And it wouldn't have been neither the first, nor the last, and certainly not the most embarrassing thing she ever said on this forum. But anyway, saved by the Harris, i guess. Lol

It's a she? I just assume everyone here is male lol. Anyway wonder where Nadal goes from here. Less than a week before he plays in Toronto, assuming he is still playing that tournament. With an injury. Looking pretty bad for him already.

Horrible year for tennis.

Edit: unless you're a Djokovic fan
Oh I don't know .........Djokes mental heath meltdown at the "meaningless little exo" has severly traumatised them LOL !

Nadal's return is looking good, his foot was better in this 3rd Round match, and he did move very well.
This is the type of match Nadal will win if best-of-5-sets.
The opponents have more belief in best-of-3-sets, but would find it too daunting at the US Open.

I think the guy is finished for the 2021 tbh. Crushing defeat on his own turf at 21 RG, so no confidence from that event that he was winning almost every year, fishy stamina, maybe slightly overweight, alleged foot injury, a next gen problems with couple of brutal losses already to next gen this year. Yeah it doesn't look good for the Spanish matador at the moment. But let's see what happens in the next few weeks...

Rafa needs his foot to be healed hopefully by next week and then his level and confidence will increase. Game wise looks fine not in a mess in any way. So if health imoroves then he will only get better from the current level

Saw that Rafa had lost the first set and was up a break in the second last night, assumed he would pull it out ...

Always sad to see a great champion struggling, even if I'm not the biggest fan of his tennis. Hopefully he can regroup, and get over any injury niggles that he still has, before the USO.

We are lucky Nadal lost early, it allows him to play Canada.
And he gave us the 2 most entertaining matches of Washington.

I liked Gill Gross's analysis of Rafa's winning match against Sock. He points out some areas that Rafa needs to problem solve, mainly hitting too many balls to the middle of the court, and he points out that Rafa has bounced back from injuries and losses quickly in the past - seemed like he wouldn't win and then he does win major matches. I am sure Rafa will be thinking about his path forward and evaluating his injury and pain. I just need for him to try to win the USO. I think he's one of several players who can win the USO this year, if he can find his form, which past history indicates he could very well do so.

Just proves that Rafa is not 100% in his match play after a 2 month layoff and Harris was very good in this match! Caulk one up for Lloyd Harris, the up and coming top 20 ATP player in the making!

Oh he wanted that gold big time, but he's already had a remarkable season without it. And he can make it even better if he wins the US Open, which I think it's very likely. I don't see who's going to challenge him in Bo5 tbh.

Several players can win the USO: Zverev, Medvedev, Tsistipas, Nadal, Thiem, Ruud, Khachanov, Shapovalov, just to name a few. The other players are starting to be more consistent and Djokovic will definitely be feeling the pressure. Yes, of course he could win, I won't like it, but it's possible, but there are other players who CAN challenge him and eliminate him from the USO.

Yeah, they can, but most of them also feel the pressure when they face Djokovic in majors. Only this year, it happened to Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas, Berrettini, and Shapovalov. Don't get me wrong, I would like someone else to take the title, and I don't think it's impossible to beat Djokovic at the US Open, I'm just saying that he has more chances than the rest of the field.

And 4 of those utterly incapable of beating Djokovic at the USO are 4 you list: Thiem, Ruud, Khachanov or Shapovalov. Or perhaps you were joking to suggest these-- none have literally even a .00005% chance. Did you miss Denis at Wimbledon against Novak? Anyway, almost certainly those 4 will be out in week one.

What about Zverev and Busta?

Rafa isn’t winning Toronto either. Medvedev will win that I feel. Plus Rafa if he even gets far will probably have to beat tsitsipas and Medvedev back to back to win it. I really don’t see it now.

Nishikori looks like 10x better than he did in that Olympics match vs. Djokovic. What was going on in that match.. he looked like a challenger player
