Closest racquet to a ROK?

What would be the closest "new" racquet to a ROK (92/93 sq in). I have three of them and broke one. I don't really want to buy any more ROKs even though they can be had for pretty cheap if I can still find them. The thing I like most about the ROK is pretty the "softness" of the frame and the amount of control it has.

I was thinking maybe the nPS with added weight would be similar. I would think most would suggest LM Prestidge Mid.

Also, anyone know if nPS is the same as the nCode Six-One Team 18x20 in Canada? I haven't seen the nPS anywhere up here and the Team up here (Canada) seems to be lighter than the Team listed on the TW site (US).

Thanks.

Prestige Mid is close, but higher swingweight, and smaller head, or the MP has a larger head (95") but thicker frame. Dunlop might be a better bet, or a Vantage 95" 18x20 frame matching the weight & balance of the ROK?

I guess do you want a smaller head (89.5") or larger (95")?... though remember the Prestige Mid is fairly heavy to swing.

I'm betting either a PK Heritage Type C Mid or a Volkl Tour 10 V Mid would do it for you. Haven't hit w/ a Heritage C but the Tour 10 Mid felt great, possibly just a tad stiffer feeling than your ROK though, even w/ the low flex number. The Heritage looks like it would match closer though.

Chlorine, If you decide you WOULD like a ROK, my daughter won one in a raffle last year and it's sitting new (never used or strung) in our basement. Please reply if you would like to discuss a sale.

You don't want another ROK, which you can get for a cheap price, but you want a racquet that is very similar to the ROK, for which you'll pay significantly more money...

Does this make sense to anyone?

By the way, I don't know which "Prestige Mid" people are referring to - but I can tell you for certain that, despite similar specs on paper, the red Prestige Classic Mid (and Classic Mid) play nothing like the ROK. The ROK is a toy in comparison.

Yeah, i agree Deuce, what is it with these types of questions, where people seem quite happy with what they've got, but ask for something else? I used to have a ROK, and now i have 2 Yonex RD ti 50's and 1 RDX 500 MP, both are superior to the ROK.

I totally agree with Duece. The ROK isn't ANY Prestige. Not saying it is bad. The Heads have a distinct feel and play very differently.

yes it makes sense to stock up on ROKs... but I'm the kinda guy who tends to switch racquets every so often... in the past few years though, the ROK has been my most dependable weapon. however, since it has discontinued... I'm thinking if I'm might want to get something else, that is all. As for prices, if it's Wilson, maybe even Prince/Babolat, I might have hook-ups... everything else, ya I'd probably be playing a lot more...

@gully, unless you're in Toronto, I doubt it would make sense for you to sell it to me. but thank you.

But why do you "tend to switch racquets" if the one that you're already using is your "most dependable weapon"? It makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever.

Five years ago, I was still searching around for more Dunlop Max 200G's, even though that racquet had been discontinued for over eight years. There are also plenty of people today still using their 20 year old PS 6.0 85's, or even older racquets, and are still quite happy with them.

If you're going to go to a Prestige mid, try the i.Prestige. Same tight pattern and super-thin profile. Feel-wise, I prefer the Prestiges to the Rok, but of all the Prestiges, the i.Prestige is the stiffest (I've never hit with an LM Prestige mid, so maybe the same can be said for that frame).

By all means, do not go to a Prestige Classic - way more feel than a Rok, not a good transitional match for you.

Another suggestion is a Tour 90 or nCode Tour 90. Both have thin, stiff beams, with excellent ball control for an accomplished player.

You kind of lost me in referring to the Rok's soft feeling - I didn't find that to be the case. That feeling could be a by-product of your stringjob. Put a straight 16g. synth. gut in there at mid-tension, most folks wouldn't call the resultant sensation "soft." I recall it having a pretty firm, responsive and unforgiving feel.

I do find my ROKs very soft... maybe it's the string... I've been using Babolat X-Cel Premium 16 or 17 for the longest time... at 60-63 lbs. Maybe that's why...

I have contemplated the Tour 90 or nCode 90... in fact, I own a PS 85 and once in a while I do like to hit with it for fun. I think one of the things I really like about the ROK is the thin profile, which is harder to find these days.

@BreakPoint, it does and it doesn't... I don't think I'm the kinda guy who can just stick to one frame... I agree that it might not make sense... I wish I could find that perfect frame... but I don't think I will ever find one... playing dubs + singles will always be different I think.

I had 3 ROKs, broke one... I also have 2x M-Fil 200, a Slaz. Tim Henman Pro Braided... I actually do have an LM Prestidge MID PLUS... I don't have the MID. As you can see, I'm not really liking my M-Fil experiment... I might consider getting nCode Tour 90, but I am worried about the stiffness in the nCode racquets.

thank you all for your suggestions. I wouldn't mind trying Vokyl racquets either. As for custom Vantage frames, don't think I can afford them.

Oh the reason I'm thinking about the nPS because it is super light and that gives me room to customize with lead tape. And it has the same string pattern.
