Comment about the mods... please read TW

hey guys,

im sorry but i have to complain about Kaptain_Karl. in 2 of the threads in odds n' ends , "your picture" and "the guys only female issues" thread, KK (im 99% he's the one) has been deleting almost all of my posts, as well as some of sfrazeur's, but ill let him speak for himself. its really annoying now, i mean, i know this is a problem now on the boards, and i think you guys have to do something about it now. do what? GET A BETTER MOD. KKK is biased, he deletes what he wants based on his mood and whether you say something that ticks him off (THAT IS HOWEVER APPROPRIATE UNDER YOUR GUYS' RULES). for example, i was joking around with Phil in one of the threads, and KK goes and deletes all my posts, but he lets all the sexual bickering and harassment remain. i dont see the point of staying on this site if he keeps doing this, and i am not the only one who is ticked off with mods (aka KK, because dire_desire is almost always fair), there are many other people who are mad, but since this is the comments section, i think its about time you guys do something about it.

and if you want some sort of proof as to why i believe its KK (like many other people), one bit of "proof" is that in the 2 threads i mentioned, KKK was the only mod posting in that thread, especially when i was posting, DD hadnt replied in that thread during that certain time period, but KKK did.

this is kind of a rant, but honestly, its about time you guys do something

Phil and I are on fine terms. Phil and I have been having a little bit of fun with
my addition of him on "The list", a bit of a "You had to be there" joke.

I do find it quite serious that so much verbal content is allowed to say while a a little Hatfield and Mccoying around is deleted, while I certainly understand the ideal that it's all in fun until someone gets hurt. But, if things are not allowed to play out it is then that things become the proverbial powder-keg.

As for the verbal sexual content, it is the sole reason I never recommend TW to any of my students or their parents.I would like to offer my time and energies as a moderator, If anyone would like to nominate me.

I'm all about adding fuel to the fire hehehe. Well only if it's good-natured. I try to shy away from threads where it gets waaay out of hand with debates and arguments and personal attacks. Well then again I do post in those as well but just to throw out the comedic relief, whether it be successful or not.

(3 consecutive posts in a row that have no value to a thread,) i don't blame KK for deleting them. I have noticed posts like this (not necessarily just you, obviously) in the "big" threads, and I let them go because it's in odds & ends, and posts don't really count, and I realize it's all in good fun, but I can see how some people wouldn't want to read stuff like that. I think practicing common courtesy for other readers is important, even in the "social" sub-sections.

As far as my opinion of KK, I think he's doing a great job, he really DOES do a lot of good moderating, and cleans up the board well. Realize that you won't see the majority of good cleanup that occurs. Also, don't assume that if it's not me, it's him, there's a lot of behind the scenes action that goes on! I'm not sure if you two have a history or something, but I just want to say don't jump to conclusions.

i agree w/ diredesire. as long as you don't say stupid stuff...you should be fine. i dont recall having any of my posts deleted...but then again...i dont linger around the social sections much. as for the deleting...personally, if i were a mod, i'd delete a lot of stuff because some people really say stupid things...and that 3 posts in a row w/ nothing to say is pretty sad...they got that edit feature for a reason.

I seriously think you guys need to think about this properly.

TT is privately owned and maintained by TW. Therefore, TW staff and their appointed personnel have every right to moderate as they deem fit.

Take for example that this is a night club. If fights, brawls and inappropriate behaviour are allowed to take place in their premises, they have every right as owners and staff to quell these activities and decide on who is allowed in. So, just because you order a drink does not give you the right to do as you please in their premises. You have to abide by their rules and regulations. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

DD and KK are doing their jobs as "bouncers" and its not an easy one and I don't see the need for them to have to explain themselves. However, they do try to be fair to those who need an explanation, hence there is the private email option. So, let's not make things more difficult for them.

In fact, I feel that this thread should be shut down.

What a ridiculous claim...as has been explained many times here, there are many admins deleting posts besides KK and DD. As far as this proof is concerned, all it proves to me is that your logic and reasoning skills are lacking. Just because KK is the only mod or admin posting in a thread does not mean that he is the only one reading it. You do post a lot of garbage in these forums that I would honestly rather not have to see, so I don't sympathize with you for getting your posts deleted. Just my honest opinion.

Guys, let's not be so hard on tennis_nerd22.

tennis_nerd22 - let's not be so hard on TW. They've already done a great and thankless job by providing a forum for us to participate in. TW is paying for everything and the amount of information that most of us serious tennis lovers learn from this board is actually very priceless. If you're ever stumped by anything tennis related on equipment, strings, technique etc., you can find an answer here extremely quickly.

I knew nothing about stringing, but with the unconditional and prompt help of so many people here such as DireDesire, blabit, ryohazuki, brucie amongst the many, I went from a zero knowledge base to competently doing 10 frames within 2 weeks.

Therefore, if you're truly serious about tennis, TT by TW is the place to be in the know. There's no better place.

Think about it carefully. The moderation is necessary to weed out the useless drivel and ensure that only the best help is available. Quality over quantity, but TT has both!

Thanks to TW Admin (Chris and Don), DD and KK for providing such a great service!

Jonolau makes a good point, we've got it a lot better than most of us care to express appreciation for. As far as your post above, I think you just need to not take things so personal, and you'll be just fine. If you take a strong side on one end of the spectrum, expect opposition/differing opinions. Although it's kind of abrasive, it makes this forum move forward and improve

I'm all for extensive moderator activity. The quality of this forum has been declining since Dec 2005, with no end in sight. The moderators weed out the idiotic posts, and I'm willing to accept censorship if it will help the forum provide helpful information as it did in the past.

You're all welcome. To be frank, I was also guilty of some of that useless drivel when I first joined, and as some of you would know, I got banned. But the 2 weeks away from the board made me realise how much I was missing out on the important and primary reason why I joined TT: to learn and share about tennis. I don't hold it against TW or the mods, as they were just doing their job to keep things civil and on track here and I appreciate the time out to do some introspection.

The problems only start cropping up when ego and pride gets in the way. Everyone start digging trenches and the flaming wars start. Not a pretty sight.

Therefore, tennis_nerd22, take DireDesire's advice. Focus on the primary reason why you're here and you'll never be disappointed.
