He is clearly the best in his generation and with the big 3 in the twilight years Medvedev might just win more grand slams than anyone else in the history of the sport.

He is certainly showing that he has something that none of the LostGen or NexGen has shown over a 10+ year period. Mental stamina and resilience and creativity and improvisation. His level of focus and refusal to go away quietly has separated him from the boys of his generation. Medvedev is showing that he’s a MAN.

Unlike Dimitrov.

As I write this, the fifth set has just started.
To be honest, I'm ready to move on from the Federer/Nadal/Djokovic era. Let's get some fresh blood in there. And lose Serena as well.

Nah,he won't be the GOAT but clearly seems to be the best of his generation atm (keep in mind only 10 months ago we were saying the same thing about that clown Zverev)

Way better than Kgyrios. Let’s see if Daniil beat him in the next tournament. He’s looking dangerous. Because he really work very hard while Kgyrios does nothing.

He is in form definitely, but he is already 23 and still without slam. In february 24, he will need to start winning 3 slams per season to be able to have chance for 20 slams. I do not see it happening but he may win slams. I say "may" because nothing is certain. He won't play always like this summer.

Nobody who's career touched the Big Three's have a real shot at GOAT status. The way the cookie crumbles. He could win no slams or he could win 10. He's not winning 20. Djokovic will be around for another 3-5 years, and Fed and Nadal for another 1-3.

This thread is so predictable.
Is any Russian player, male or female, even considered a tier 1 player despite their enormous pool of talents?
My point, never bet against Russian players, never bet on them either.

I doubt it. He's very promising but nowhere near the Big 3 in terms of talent.

No. He's an Aquarius.

They don't have the patience, discipline, or stamina for the grind and repetition it takes to become a GOAT. Especially after he's seen his first $5 Million.

Aquarius mission in life is to upset the apple cart and frustrate the *&^% out of you. When you least expect it - surprise, Aqua delivers. Once you've done all your calculations and decided Aquarius should do this or that - SURPRISE! It's not happening.

See: Marat Safin (sun in Aquarius), Agassi (moon in Aquarius), Del Potro (moon in Aquarius), Princess Diana (moon in Aquarius). Ideal on paper, but rebellious, unreliable, disappointing in the end.

Medvedev seems like a pretty likable guy, not sure why the crowd was so against him. He kind of won them over though.
Couldn't have been this, no surely not.

Well have the big 3 announced their retirement? I like Medvedev. I really do. And I hope he does well. But he might have to face these guys for the next 3 -4 years and that's a long time taking away his best years.

Beating one of them is a herculean task, imagine having to face 2 in some slam events.

If his contemporaries keep being so weak he could have some of the most dominanat seasons ever.

But to be GOAT he should also have a long career like Big3 or "pre-Open Big3" (Laver, Rosewall, Gonzales)

What are the common traits that of a goat? Both Nadal and Sampras won their first slam at age 19 while Djokovic won at age 21 and Federer almost at 23. So I don't think that proves anything. What else? The game itself of course. Who has the goat game? Mental clutchness? Someone who already believes in his abilities? Who indeed.

it barely could be about who won 1st slam earlier, many components goat candidate must have: titles, dominance, mental clutchness of course, playing great on every surface etc.
