isnt it wierd that all the top croat players....lubicic,ancic,karlovic and ivanisavic have -ic at the end of the name...and that they r all over 6'5 with huger serves
yvp said:if im correct sasa tuskar is a midget compared to these giants,so its OK for him not to have a killer serve...
Duzza said:Sorry how tall is Ancic?
erdega79 said:Most of the surnames/last names in ex yugoslavia apart from macedonia and most of slovenia end with "IC" , pronounced "ITCH". It's a diminutive of a name and it's fairly recognizable. My last name is Erdeg and it has some hungarian and slovakian origings. But I also think that many people are getting creative with their names in order to differentiate themselves.
With that said I think in general ex yugoslavian countries have disproportinate number of tall people . Where I live the norm is around 185cm or 6"1' with many people over 2m or 7" . They just play basketball and not tennis
With that said, croatia used to produce good basketball players but it seems like most of tall guys choose sports other than basket these days

Penthouseovic is correct; I wonder where the Sudan ranks though....Dedo Penthouseovic said:We are tall; but the Dutch are now the tallest
Andres Guazzelli said:According to Guinnes World Records, a tribe in Africa has the tallest people of all countries.
The tallest major tribe in the world is the Tutsi (also known as the Watussi) tribe of Rwanda and Burundi, Central Africa, whose young adult males average 1.83 m (6 ft). The Tutsi are found mainly in Rwanda and Burundi.
To top that? I'm 1.92 m. I already top that :mrgreen:Dedans Penthouse said:Dedans Penthouseovic replies: please check out the 2nd paragraph in the following url:

Did ya read that Andres? 1.84
Top that! Argenteeny-weenie!!! j.k. LOL!!!
Seriously, though there are "tribes" (e.g. Masai in Tanzania & Kenya) that are taller, the Dutch constitute the tallest in term of "country" and since "Croatia" was bandied about, I assumed it to mean "which country?" had the tallest. Must be 'windmill power' that's responsible.
Cool; that make two of us. :mrgreen:Andres Guazzelli said:To top that? I'm 1.92 m. I already top that
Hantuchova is slovakian, not russianLleyton Hewitt said:its just like most of russians sharapova hantuchova dementieva petrova....all end in va
Andres Guazzelli said:Hantuchova is slovakian, not russian
And they end in "VA" because they add an 'a' to their father's last name: Yuri Sharapov/Sharapova, Safin/Safina, Petrov, etc
Not sure about Anastasia, but if the logic is correct, his father must have been Myskin.sandiegotennisboy said:what about myskina?
and is it true hingis used to be hingisova?
Ivanišević said:yeah, many coatian names ends with IC(ć), mine also
and, btw, đoković is not croat!
Mr.Federer said:dokovic as in djokovic? Yeah, I know, but he's from the former yugoslavia land...and they're all tall.
Ivanišević said:well, maybe because his mother from croatia.
