Days since Federer disclosed the nature of his knee injury/surgery: 0 and counting...

44 days have gone by since the announcement and we still don't know what kind of operation it was, which part of the knee, or heck, what the problem actually is with his knee. I don't even know which knee he injured and got operated on, I refuse to study his posture with crutches at LC.

After all the press exposure and media events he has done since, with Laver Cup and all, hasn't one reporter asked him already?

I don't understand why he would keep this a secret this much. It's not like he needs to hide it from competition because he'd give away competitive advantage.

All we know.. all we've ever known is... it's a "knee injury needing a knee surgery". That's all folks.

I am a huge fan of his, but I've basically never believed this crap.

Uhh, no. Giving away the nature of the injury is very exploitable. You don't remember Wawrinka arguing with that piece of **** Carlos Ramos about Nadal's injury during the AO Final? Theres a reason for why he wanted to know so badly.

"You have to tell me WHY!"

Why is not talking about knee surgery related to covid?

Dude Federer admitted that he was pretty much ready to play but took his time bc of all the disruptions to his normal routine. Members of his team said so as well if I remember correctly.

According to one of Fed devotees, @vive le beau jeu !, things of that sort are called: imagin'juries.

He was seen with a crutch. What proof are we looking for ?

I have a naturally suspicious mind, I always read between the lines and always assume there is a selfish motivation that people are trying to conceal.

I'm a huge Fedfan but he doesn't escape those tendencies

You think one of the greatest sportsman overall(and about to enter that exclusive billionaire club if he hasn't already) would use crutches to sell the idea injuries are getting in his way?
He is not some teen trying to skip school

He looked pretty bad at Wimbledon when he slipped. That's the most persuasive evidence.

I saw this video from a doctor's perspective. He doesn't really know exactly either but he explained what it is most likely. It's basically just the usual knee stuff that happens from decades of high impact sports.

An athlete lying about the seriousness of an injury to avoid pissing off sponsors or to conceal PED usage requires a lot Ferrer moving parts than a conspiracy to enslave the world using a vaccine

Public person secretive about private life, how unusual.
Conditioning is clearly off as seen at Wimbledon so I'm fine with waiting. Take more time to get in shape or retire really.

It's not unusual at all. It happens all the time, in fact it's the norm IMO.

What's funny is that my idea always gets attacked on the basis that there's no way it could be true, and at some point the criticism always shifts to "well even if it is true, so what?"

Federer's always been rather hush-hush about injuries. A lot of them are revealed casually months after the fact without any real indication that something was bugging him physically at the time (grass season 2018 comes to mind).

He's probably just measured about what all he wants to say to the public and to his competitors about it right now. Couple years from now we'll probably know more about it, if there's really anything of import to know.

Why would he fake an injury to keep himself from playing, when he wants to play to hopefully win more slams? The logic doesn't make sense.

Most prudent people don't spread their personal medical business on social media or blab about it to the media. What do we know about Tiger Woods' medical issues with his leg after his accident?

You didn't answer my question in the other thread.

It's not like he owes you an update on his health.

His career is over. Has been for 2 years. He's just protecting his endorsement money by pretending to still be an active player. Scammer!

we know the first one or two surgeries were meniscus problems..
i dont think theres much else to do surgically on the knee except tendon and meniscus issues..
at this stage where he is its probably both...

Really doesn't matter as no 40 year old is going to come back from having bad wheels (See Michael Jordan at 40. Once the wheels are gone that its). He should have just retired and called it a day

True but at that time of his decision for the first surgery Roger was not 40 yet. Feeling well enough, he probably thought that he'd come back after that one (perhaps two) surgeries given that the coronavirus pandemic was coming. Federer has been a highly calculative man and so he may've figured out that the COVID stopage of tournaments and pandemic ATP rankings would come which would keep him in the game. Hasn't Roger been correct with just about everything except his knee (third surgery) so far?

Clearly using smoke and mirrors to hide the fact that he is piledriving the world's most potent cocktail of performance enhancing drugs into his system so that he can come back in good enough form to get knocked out in the semifinals of the McPiddlesbury under the Marsh Open by Alexandrios Boggitukinnatis Jr.

If Fed said he had knee injury/surgery , why would one doubt him ?
He has given around 30 years of his life to this sport ,and he will lie about an injury/surgery at the age of 40 ??
People need to let him heal and recover .

Such conspiracy theories look unfair !
