You don't think Federer would make it to the 2nd week, but think Delpo could win it. Interesting.

I say 4R.

I wish I could be a bit more confident with fed's chances at Wimbledon. I suppose at this point he is still the favorite, but there is always more room for an upset and his level of play the first quarter (yes I know he won AO) seems to be a bit worse than last year. I guess I'd feel some type of way if he managed to defend either Miami or IW. I know grass is grass and he could have lost first round at AO, IW, and Miami and it would have no bearing on his Wimbledon results minus maybe confidence, but I get the feeling that aura of invincibility he managed to get back last year is gone.

Thing is he didn't even need to play that great and still didn't drop a set last year at Wimbledon. Don't really see any new competition this year either. Murray won't be ready yet even if he is playing. Djokovic still looks a ways off. Berdych is crumbling completely. Cilic is scared of Fred.

Looking at his draw.He can reach QFs at least. He faces Vinollas at the 3rd Round and in the 4th either Isner or Chardy/Herbert.Then in the QFs he will face either Cilic or Fognini/Edmund- can he defeat them - dont know to be honest

Delpo said he doesn't think he's one of the players who can stop Nadal at RG. How the hell is he going to beat him if he is talking like this(unless he's just blowing hot air?) His balls shrink to peanut size when he has to face Nadal:

And while Del Potro views the Spaniard as the heavy favourite, he believes Dominic Thiem and Alexander Zverev are the two biggest threats to him at Roland Garros. When asked if he felt he could provide a major obstacle to the world No. 1’s progress, he replied: ‘No. ‘I don’t feel like I’d be one of the players who can challenge Rafa today, on Tuesday. ‘If I had to select some names, I would say Thiem or Zverev or some surprise that comes up, but today, I don’t feel that I’m part of any of those. players, and because of the surface we’re playing on, because there are a few of us who can really challenge Rafa.

I agree with Del Potro. The only two players who have any chance of beating Nadal at this tournament are Zverev or Thiem.

Well he reached QFs which is good. Cilic/Fognini wont be easy opponent. Fognini is good clay court player and Cilic shouldnt be underestimated

He really blew 2012 as well. Up two sets to love on Fed.

Not he, his body actually. And also fed got his sheets together..

Berdych was playing good tennis though I must say - he was even doing it to start vs Fed but then he remembered who he was up against hahaha.

This is the weirdest story in last 4 years. Fed-birdman matches. I mean this man had fed as his pigeon almost in 2010-13...
And suddenly, struggles to steal a single set (miami 2017, 2nd set was the first set he won vs roger in 3 years)

JMDP has a chance to defeat evil in the SF and score a big win for tennis fans

Due to the tough draw , he was unable to do that in New York last year.

Interesting to mention that in his last 4 appearances at FO he lost to members of the Big 4 - Federer (2009),Djokovic (2011),Federer (2012) and Murray (2017).I think he can do well in the SF if he manage to defeat Cilic in straight sets.Hopefully the QF doesnt go into five setter.

Not that it will happen because it won't, but if I was to pick the top favourite to beat Nadal right now it would be Djokovic, and then Delpo. Zverev and Thiem have to bring it at slam level first before I believe they can beat Nadal at anything.

Thiem is too tennis illiterate to beat Nadal in BO5 anywhere, let alone on clay, and Zverev is too busy going 5 sets with every top 50 player he faces and barely beating them. If I'm ranking favourites it's Nadal by a mile, but Djokovic is 2nd right now IMO. At least he has the C.V. to back it up.

I had a dream that Nadal beat Del Potro in like a 5 + hour semi-final a la the 2009 AO SF against Verdasco and Djokovic still then lost to Nadal in the final lol.

Hey, I'm on board for that! JDDP winning a slam he has said he "cannot win" would be sweet.
Yes that would be lovely. That would mean that Novak is back which will be the biggest takeaway for me. Also it would mean Delpo winning another slam(much deserved). Why I don't want Novak to win? Because if Rog can't have that double career GS then no one should. Well I am primarily a Fed fan afterall.
Also Fed's slam count stays safe if Nad loses here and Fed will be no.1 for a long time(given he wins Wimby which I feel he will). Some many agendas lol:p

I really disagree with that. Novak Djokovic has the CV but 2018 Novak doesn't look to me like a guy who can beat Rafa at RG. I felt he was gassed after just one set when they played this year at Rome. I can't see him running down all balls and beating Rafa in five, not happening. It's just my opinion.

Dominic Thiem took two sets off off Rafa this year. Of course, you can't call it luck as he has done it before also. Of course, it's a different level taking three sets off Rafa compared to taking two sets.

Still if I were a betting man, I would put money on the guy who won two sets against Rafa than on the guy who got gassed after just a set, that too which he lost in TB. Also for me, it appears to me that Novak Djokovic is too frail for best of five matches

That's fine. There's a good chance this debate is meaningless anyway because I agree no one is beating Nadal, but I put Djokovic as 2nd favourite (or most likely to beat Nadal) simply because I don't think Thiem is going to beat Nadal in a big match. He's not supposed to anyway, but more than that, I don't believe in Thiem in big matches against any of the Big 3 to this point in his career. I just don't see the necessary mentality where Thiem is concerned.

Regarding Zverev, I think the 5 setters will eventually hurt him no matter how young he is, if not now then against Djokovic and then Nadal if he makes it there. A fresh Zverev and maybe he's most likely to beat Nadal (albeit still with a slim chance), but the 5 setters for Zverev have tipped the scales in Novak's favour IMO.

I don't believe Djokovic is too frail for BO5. If he was I don't think he'd even be in the QFs. He got a very fortunate QF draw here obviously, but we all saw him in IW and Miami losing to Taro Daniel and Benoit Paire. Say what you will about the guys he's beaten here, but they're all way better than those guys. Not only that, but he beat RBA in 4 with two tough TB sets. If he really was too frail there's no way he'd be beating a guy like that, IMO.

But maybe you're right and Thiem is more likely to beat Nadal than Novak is, but my prediction right now is that Thiem doesn't get to Nadal because Djokovic beats him. Of course I could be wrong about that too.

Needless to say I'm assuming Djokovic beats Cecchinato (sp?) and I would be absolutely shocked if he didn't (barring injury), troubles since RG 2016 notwithstanding.

So the QF between Del Po and Cilic didnt go into five setter which is good and Schwartzman pushed Nadal to some extent.I think Del Po can take set from Nadal tomorrow. Also It will depend also on the conditions - if they are damp ,we will have close match probably

So many poll cheaters. Pre tournament like 2 people said he'd make the SF
Did you vote twice?
Yeah I allowed multiple votes, should have closed voting on the first day of the French.

*Was being flippant, sometimes I miss.

The idea was you were the one that voted for Delpo twice. A comment both on your fandom and poll cheaters.

Post Script
FYI, I just poll cheated my vote. Still feeling flippant.
