genuine q - how far does the Ezone go back... does it have any relations with the RDiS lines?
maybe i should give the isometric head another try :X3:
There's some kind of voodoo with it. I remember feeling like I couldn't miss the sweet spot with the 97HD. Even though that head shape was different there was something oddly familiar about the swing feel and impact feel.

yeah, i agree the head shape can put you/me off sometimes..... i had a good go with the Dual G 97 (310) for awhile... i recall trying to up the SW and make it more HH without adding too much weight overall was challenging. i think in the end, i had to remove the trap door to save that 2 or 3g to get close to the head balance i wanted... then had a go, but didn't really gel with it. maybe i need to cut out that fb of multi and get a freshy one on it :notworthy:

Not that long ago it was a UT smitten fest :-D.
The UT love was/is real. As is my own love for the 6.1. But exactly as @Power Player predicted, I came up against the tweeners and couldn't keep up.

I was able to snag a court reservation at an indoor court for tonight. Of course when I made the reservation, I had to ask if they had a demo of the EZ100. It just so turns out that they do. I'll post my thoughts tonight.

what type of the indoor surface do they have? will you be using new balls too? ;)

Hopefully USPS gets their act together so you can do a H2H with the Extreme Tour. I had +3 day delays for sticks I had incoming recently. Ugh.

It's hard court. It's sad to say but I've never played on grass or clay. I'm especially sad about the clay part.

And there are always a few fresh cans in my bag.
cool - have fun and look forward to your thoughts. some indoor courts can be faster, especially with new balls.... lol
i got bad thrashed by a lefty mate of mine once on a fast indoor court with a new can of balls, when trying out a new racquet.... (lol - obviously i am blaming the tool here..:X3:.)
don't like grass, not my type and hated the clay... to dusty and dirty.
i don't mind the various hard court types and synthetic grass (the sandy type) though.. lol

I hope its strung up decently. Folks in here have been demoing the frame with tight multi and syn gut due to crappy demo string jobs. I personally think its a full poly racquet.

I just demo'd and bought a Gravity Pro, I thought i'd love the Tour model since I was looking for something lighter than my 11.8 oz Babolat. The Tour felt squishy but I loved the teardrop shape so I tried a Pro. It was beautiful.

What are everyones favorite strings with it?
my last deep dive into strings was 8 or 9 years ago when I was looking for more depth. any recs?
I’d suggest you stick to your usual string setup for now, in order to change just 1 variable at a time.
The Gravity Pro is really plush, and you might need to bring the tension up a bit or go with a slightly firmer string.
I’ve tried mostly softer polys on it as I got it while recovering from golfer‘s elbow - I remember trying gut/poly and poly/gut (both too powerful and with not enough spin), Silverstring (felt great— not a lot of weaknesses, but no outstanding qualities other than comfort; I almost stuck with it), YPTP (too plasticky on this frame), Pro Line Evo (less plasticky than YPTP, but not pleasant as well) and a few more that I can’t remember right now.
I ended up with Element - really soft, but does not sacrifice feel and pockets the ball well. I could probably play with Alu again or maybe even something stiffer, but Element has grown on me to the point I don’t really want to try other strings (although I occasionally do, while fooling around with other frames).

I asked about string but the guy didn't know for sure. All he said was that it was green. My guess is that it's probably Yonex PTP.

YPTP is yellow (or recently blue). Most popular green is Hyper-G, practically every club is linked with Solinco one way or another. And I think Hyper-G plays better anyway so you should be ok. Take a pic of the racquet once you are there and share. I'm sure we'd be able to identify it.

It's entirely possible that I'm wrong. Especially as I didn't know the color of PTP.

And you're not wrong about Solinco. They are everywhere. I remember thinking that they wouldn't be around for long when they first came out.

I playtested the NGDY (Hyper-G) directly for Solinco before it first came out and I too did not think it would gain the kind of traction it has. It is amazing how popular it has gotten. It is a great string too no doubt.

I remember using Tour Bite before my hiatus. It was a good string but definitely stiff. Then I tried TB Soft when I came back. I've been wondering if I owe it another shot because I absolutely hated the racquet it was in (Graphene Touch Prestige MP). But I also really like Hyper G. The 17g hasn't let me down in any racquet I've put it in.

You could potentially enjoy Grapplesnake's Alpha - extremely comfortable, great feel & touch yet still good control.

Hi, I dont have that frame but a heavier, high SW frame thats soft for me is strung with Silver 7 Tour 1.25 all day with no hesitation.

And I'm the one stuck in the middle. Loving the feel of the UT but knowing I'll play better and win more with the EZone. Does that make my 6.1s some kind of night stick that I use to bludgeon people when things go horribly wrong?

did you think there was a difference in spin from sniper vs alpha? alpha does have a little bit more pop...

I think if there were differences, they were mostly likely due to acute differences in daily form, so most likely negligible.

2nd round of demos is coming today so I should be able to hit with them if it’s not so damn windy. Traded in the ezone 100 with crappy strings for the new extreme mp which was strung with lynx tour. What a difference the strings make! Extreme mp has now taken the lead from the pure strike. These new Head 360+ racquets are all really really good! Extreme was very comfortable, had lots of spin and easy power I was expecting the ezone to have. It helped that I played really well that day too. Really want to get my hands on the Speed mp next. I have a feeling it will be between the extreme, speed and iga. And then in January the new radical will show up and mess everything up again.

I’m still looking for that unicorn with magical feel combined with Babolat ball bulldozing. Closest so far has been the BP 18x20. I’ve never hit the UT but I assume it feels even sweeter potentially at the expense of some plow and ease of use. Just to manage your expectations the ET probably will not feel as good as the UT but I think it’s a good gateway into the world of tween.

That's a really nice group of frames to demo. I wish you could have hit with poly in the Ezone so we could get a better comparison there. The Ezone has easy power, I swear.

Yep, nothing does, but I go back and forth between them and I honestly enjoy the feel of the Ezone coming from the UT, which is the gold standard to me.

Magical feeling tweeners don't really exist, I think the closest for me is what Yonex has done. Wilson's next Clash could be something if they tweak it a bit. For example, make it stiff but still comfortable. That's essentially what Yonex has managed to do.

100%. To me the Ezone has always been an APD emulator with a more flexible throat (for the 98) and additional dampening tech which explains the lower-powered response and additional mutedness. I had to give the 98 another try so that’s why I picked up some 98Ls to weight up. Could be great or could be a flop, we shall see. Good to know I can always pickup a 100 and play as is.

Really want to get my hands on the Speed mp next.

One of my hitting partners (whom I'm playing tonight if it stops raining) ordered a pair of the Speed MPs. Based off the specs it doesn't look like my type of frame but I'm still looking forward to hitting with it as I've never tried a Speed before.

Please share if you ever find this unicorn as that sounds like my ideal racquet.

i have a bab, UT and an Ezone. They are different but the same, and live harmoniously together in my bag. Global peace is still possible.

You are a shining light, the peacemaker we need in these troubled times.

BP gets more and more addicting the more you play with it, no? It's such a hammer. And yes, the UT feels sweeter, but doesn't carry the FU solidity and pop. Both are such beautiful sticks in feel and in what they offer, respectively.

Yeah the more time I log with it, the more I can share the best setup. The rain has been bad, but its looking good for the next few days so ill get more time out there.

The 98L could be amazing since you have the RDC to set it up. Biggest thing may be that you will want the SW a bit lower than usual because these frames seem to deliver the same punch as a frame with SW 10 points higher.

UT is the only frame I have really wanted to customize and that worked out quite well, even though I went by feel. I rarely try frames that need much lead at all unless they are being universally praised by lots of people. It keeps the options lower, which is good.

Dude. This is what is keeping me up at night. I want to target a 300 gram unstrung weight so that means adding roughly 15 grams. Depending on how I skin the cat I could do something crazy like 32.7cm/308SW or more sensible like 32cm/295SW (both unstrung). To your point I will probably start with a roughly 320 strung SW to get a sense of the power and stability without blurring things with too much weight initially.

BP 18x20 does have way more power/plow compared to the UT and in a sweet feeling racquet to boot

32/295 sounds like a really good plan to me.

I always assumed I wouldn't enjoy clay due to being in my 20s and locally everyone called it "the old guys courts" in my town. In reality, it was "old guys" because it's a country club and people in a stable career is who can afford to play there. My USTA team that referred to them as that was a group from 19-27 with me being the elder.

A few years ago I started getting invited to hit there with a co-worker who's family belongs to the golf club. I must say, clay is really fun. It's a different game to me, but I like to slide and the plastic/urethane or whatever they are lines add a challenge. If you serve and hit it, no bounce. I still prefer hard courts, but have a new appreciation for clay. I hope you get to hit on them one day as well!

i cant imagine its that much diff than the gen 2. which to me feels odd. tin like with no stability but hey you never know
For me difference was similar that you had between gen 2 98 16x19 (P17) vs current 98 16x19. Gen 2 feels crisper and less muted..
