And some people kept telling me I know nothing about the sport and I was no one to question Novak's decision for playing both the singles and Doubles.

I don't want to have this kind of last laugh. But let's just say people ridiculed me a little too much.

legit

Novak fans were all over you, especially with your prediction that Zverev would win.

They have major egg on their faces now

Honestly. Let’s be real. Novak was super overconfident and arrogant in how he approached this thing. The heat and humidity was brutal and he put himself on court for mixed doubles. Yeah, I get that doubles isn’t like playing a singles match but those extra serves and extra hours in the heat add up. Not to mention whatever practice time he was putting in with his teammate. Completely predictable result to a dumb decision by Novak. Even his teammates were telling him not to do it.

When has Novak ever not been arrogant though? :-D

I remember first coming across him at the Australian Open 2008. I was 12 then and I knew I didn’t like him just from his attitude.

He’s never really been able to shake that reputation, and he demonstrates why multiple times per year.

I watched half the match and it was close to the worst I've ever seen Novak play. He was even hitting a lot of balls short.

His behaviour is attrocius. On one side the goody nice to show PR media , but in reality his actual behaviour gets exposed in tough times. And this year lot of times, the Fritz and zverev match in AO, the beretini match in FO. And today in careno busta match

Federer and Nadal handles their losses much more gracefully

Sadly Djokovic at the olympics is similar to Gollum and the one ring scenario. He wants it too badly and the more tries he does the harder it gets mentally. Under the big pressure and it’s the one tournament he hasn’t been able to hold it together in the big moments. Still you can’t get them all.

I thought it was actually Zverev caring less than normal that allowed him to serve and play so well in their SF. Similar to how he does better in masters than slams.

In the bronze medal match, Novak was clearly playing very poorly.

Zverev did outplay him for periods and was the better player. Still Novak in set 2 and 3 made some very bad errors a bit like what he did against Nadal at the french final like year. Just some uncharacteristic errors and nervy shots.

Zverev was the better player and djoko was also tight on a number of occasions in set 2 and 3. Even the first set didn’t reflect the story of match really as Zverev was in most game.

I didn't watch set 3, but in set 2 I thought Zverev just out played him offensively.

He only made 4 unforced errors in set 2. He made 5 in set 1. And that was despite playing 2 fewer games in set 1.

Respect to Djokovic....
Winning or losing is not a big deal, he was there to compete and he was representing Tennis & Serbia at the Olympics by being its ambassador while Fed and Rafa were busy enjoying life, that counts..... losing is fine, no big deal, the effort matters more. ..... Novak is a true champion and I hope he gets his 4th slam of the year.

Yeah that’s true. Zverev just took the match of his times. He can be unplayable when he’s on. If he can replicate that in best of 5 he can win a major soon. That’s the acid test though. I feel he has the weapons to do it.

I suppose to take these kind of statements right after a loss at face value. He sounds like he was limping, half blind on crutches playing lefty through the matches, but the videos show otherwise - he was just fine, only got his behind whooped. I fear the injury is mental - not physical.

I was assuming one who can play through a “torn abdominal muscle” (lol) could play though a little “overplay” that somehow caught up to him after the first set vs. Zverev. He allowed Zverev to dominate him on a fast court and then couldn’t beat Busta.

LOL....Even though his opponents were a joke he was steamrolliing through them under heavy medication?

These are mind games. He's trying to decrease the value of Zverev's win so that he doesn't get a mental edge over him in the future. Maybe he sees Zverev as a future threat although not sure why...after all he is a useless next gen mug that chokes in BO5

Zverev likely isn’t a threat as he, too, will fall apart, but Zverev showed that is he‘s not, Djokovic can’t do anything with his unimaginative, robotic game and can get blown off the court.

What about Srdjan Djokovic, he seems to be very calm since his cry baby lost at OG twice in a row!
Where are his stupid remarks towards Rafa & Roger?
How could his super-duper „full of love“ boy lost to Zed?
I thought that Nole is just unbeatable, didn‘t he predict his son will win the Golden Slam?

Still I think it‘s a shame that Novak took away Nina‘s chance for a bronze medal as this might have earned her a lot of fame and money/ new sponsors, but he didn‘t care at all. Very poor behavior.

Someone hacked your account? It's just a little surprising coming from you, especially the last bit.

It's bizarre how most of the Djokovic fan base turns to personal attacks whenever he loses. It never fails. As if winning 3 slams in a year isn't enough to dampen the vitriol. Paging Hitman, please come back from your hiatus.

I never said he will become GOAT if he wins all 4 slams, however if he is aiming for it then sure, why not? Let him win it. Won't make much of a difference to me, it is not like I am praying for him to lose or anything, if I consider Fed ahead of him today then it won't change even if he reaches 21, so I dont mind him winning what he is aiming for,

Lol I said from the start of the year his 2 slam season this year will be successful and I am quite happy with three slam season even if he don't win us open, I was also against him going to olympics, and quoting me when others Fed fans abuse Djokovic but you don't quote them or correct them is really funny

Ok I may have confused you with others, but man in even Djokovic news I clearly said the man frustrate me with his stupid decision.
Really his blind fans were saying, he know his body and blah.
I am not even angry about olympics but because of injury if he can't compete in Us open with 100 percent... Man what can I say.

He also said he has numerous injuries, citing the shoulder one specifically, and that he's not sure he'll be ready for the USO. I don't understand...did he have these before Tokyo? If so, I wish he had been smarter about participating and making history.
What could be so bad that he's not optimistic he can even play at an event 4 weeks from now? Man, I really wish he had just rested after Wimbledon now...:(

It's bizarre how one individual can generalize so most likely based on one or two interactions with 12 year olds at Indian Wells in the 1880's.

Yeah, I didn't want him to go, then got torn because I was getting greedy, but always figured he would. HOWEVER, I was also assuming he was healthy and listens to his body. This is strategic failure and mismanagement 101. Years of bitter RG losses..you win RG. Missed Wimbledon last year; you win Wimbledon. Now bitter losses, injuries, and last year's debacle at the USO; now winning in jeopardy bc of injuries. I really wanted him to win RG and USO this year...USO especially because thats a slam he should own more of, just has always been banged up by the end of the year. Sigh

It was a good run though. Would've been nice if he won gold if he wasn't going to be good for USO.

If he was only playing singles then may be this was ok decision, but in this heat and humidity he played 3 days 2 matches in row, don't know who advise this.
I was afraid he might get injured and my worst fear became true.

Same. He advised it. Serbian coaches and his coaches back home didn't want him to. I hope thats not what caused the injury, but if it is and takes him out of the USO or competing at a high level, I will be the saltiest mofo in the world

I wonder what it is, though....sore shoulder? shoulder strain? Foot/ankle/knee issues? after zverev match, when his first serve suddenly collapsed midway through the 2nd set, he said he didn't know what happened and his game collapsed. Just hoping he was emotional and living in the moment vs it being a serious thing. History is mixed, but usually when he says he has injuries, its serious

Yeah, I’m sure it’s just about his attitude. I think you should check your post history to gain perspective, that’s the literal definition of rent free.

Horse-hit.

You are beaten by better players in last two days. Your body was in perfect shape until 6-1,3-2 vs Zverev. Why didn't you mentioned it before 1/2 Final?

Typical unsportmanlike behaivor by Djokovic when things not going his way.

Wolf changes his coat...
