Djokovic might lose No 1. ranking temporarily on November 1-st if Medvedev wins in IW

Going by the post and calculation below at Reddit. Serbian media (Blic) has a similar article as far as I can tell.
Medvedev World No 1 Chance
Stats/Analysis
If djokovic decides not to play till the 1st of November(or not win 77 points between now and november 1st) and Medvedev wins indian wells(these being the requirements). He will climb into the no 1 spot on the 1st of november with a 77 point lead(i.e if he does not play anything else except IW). And will drop back down to no 2 the following week regardless of his result at paris.
I am going off of this sites information btw: (https://openerarankings.com)

They are going by the cutoff of 2019 dates, instead atp should have waited for Paris master finish date to drop 2019 edition points

Would be epic but won't happen
Who cares. Djokovic remains below Fedal on all time list, indeed there seem more than a few droppin him below Borg and Sampras on FB so the no.1 ranking does not change those perceptions.
Djokovic is the most consistent player of all time. Whether he stays at no.1 or loses it now is irrelevant. In terms of being the longest no.1 holder he has secured that accolade. Unfortunately it is not enough to get him up to Fedal in terms of status.

Well, anyone who really loves tennis and respects hard work, mastery of the game and results cannot deny his greatness. So, with all due respect for people's 'perceptions and opinions', results don't lie. He is at the very top of the ladder.

Except he is 3rd and quite a distant third. Nadal and Federer have all the big achievements.

That stat does stand out a bit, unfortunately.

To provide context - my post with achievements was only in a response to a pretty unreasonable statement. I think what all of the BIG 3 have achieved is just unbelievable and I have enjoyed any combination of their matches immensely over the years. For me - all three will always be special. Having said that, I do not think anybody with a straight face can dispute that Djokovic has achieved the most thus far and stands higher chances of further improving the numbers. I do not recognise the 'Weak era' arguments. Not in the early 2000s period and certainly not in the current one. One can only play one opponent at a time, whichever the draw throws at them. The game keeps developing and it is more demanding in an athleticism kind of way than ever.

On a side note, it is amazing how these discussions veer off the OP so easily ;).

Disagree with the bolded. A 34 year old almost winning the CYGS and regularly outperforming guys 2 generations younger physically should already dismiss that statement as being true.

You prove why Djokovic is Third. Having to post a thesis to try to prove a point automatically means someone cannot be the Greatest. The Greatest have achievements he whole world can point to. Nadal has the FO record that even non tennis fans know. He has a golden slam even non tennis fans would understand.
Federer has over 100 titles. Federer has had the best season of all time in 2006 and at his peak was the most dominant player of all time which people remember. He even got a mention in an eisode of NCIS.
and finally djokovic all but admits he would swap his career for Nadal given he intends playing the paris Olympics chasing Gold. By then Rafa and Roger will be smugly relaxing enjoying life.

Nothing you mentioned makes Federer or Nadal greater than Djokovic. Can't believe you brought up the fact that Federer has over 100 titles. Might as well mention how many aces he has. Absolutely irrelevant statistic.

You being previously banned in your quest to elevate Federer and Nadal shows how great Djokovic is. You just can't stand it and it shows.

Med will probably end YE1. Obviously anyone would rather Djokovic year as 3 slams is way above 1. But Djokovic not playing or caring at the rest while Med wins them then he deserves #1.

Arguing Fed being better than Djokovic is a valid point and certainly one that is 50/50 for me but stop with this 100 title crap. Djokovic has more big titles. Federer’s 49 250/500 titles is all well and good but Djokovic and Nadal barely play them events.

Djokovic still might play Paris and WTF. I have a feeling that he would not want to drop the YE#1 and lose the opportunity to move away from Sampras as the sole most YE#1 holder and equal Federer with WTF wins. He likes to chase records, and there are not many left to best.

What are you talkin about lol? It is simply acknowledged Federer and Nadal are ahead of Djokovic. He fact you make up stuff about bans etc means you cannot handle the truth. Djokovic had his chance. He blew it. It is all about Federer and Nadal.now. go to any tennis event.

Lol what is a big title? Djokovic fans cannot decide what a big title is. We know the players consider Majors and Olympics the holy grails. It so happens Nadal has the lot and Federer managed a doubles gold. Right now their careers are better. And 100 titles is definitely a huge achieement that probably for many means Federer is Goat given he also has the most Majors.
djokovic does not lead in any category apart from rankings. Rankings do not equate to Greatness. They reward consistency.

Djokovic would prefer Nadal and Federers career. He has all but said so or did you miss his comments about the Olympics. I am not even stating my opinion i am literally going off whatDjokovic has said for over 10 years!

And I’m Pete Sampras. See how easy it is to lie without backing up your statement?

This is amazing. We now have a new way of establishing GOAThood. And the greatest of all time is John McEnroe, who not only got a mention in a TV show, he was the subject of an entire episode of CSI:New York. Like, he was the major plot point, and he starred in it as himself. That's wayyyy better than just a "mention".

Female GOAT must be Navratilova, who starred as herself (alongside Vijay Amrtiraj) in an episode of Hart to Hart. In fact, does that make Vijay the second-placed GOAT?

Many do put Mcenroe greatest of the 80s. I dont but go to former pro section and have a look. Your post perhaps explains why
