How would you feel if Novak fans polluted the "Forgive me" Sinner thread with all kinds of non Jannik related stuff? So please do not do this, be kind

Here is a good news: Djokovic will never be the GOAT
Already is. At least has a better claim than anyone else in history.
2011, 2015, 2023 were all incompetent, compared to the full power of the almighty Sinner!
The guy who's won a single slam so far? He's definitely good, but let's not call him a 3-slam winner in a highly competitive year (2011) just yet.

Oh and don't come back into the Djokovic News thread. You're only here to stir up drama, not to talk about Djokovic News.

Djokovic is a beast on all tournaments but the one where he struggled the most seems to be Roland Garros.

Exactly how much struggle was it?

David Ferrer has played a full career in which he has won 146 matches on grand slam level. He has 17 slam QF appearances. Djokovic has 17 at Roland Garros.

Jim Courier and Andy Roddick have both been world number 1 and Stan has won 3 slams. All of them have less total slam semis appearances than Djokovic's appearances at just Roland Garros at 12.

Djokovic would be 15th on open era list of slam finalists just based on his appearances in 7 Roland Garros finals.

And 18th in slam titles just on the back of 3 Roland Garros titles.

If Djokovic reached 1 more RG quarters, then he would hold outright record of most quarter finals at a particular slam. He has shared the record with Connors at USOpen for now where Connors reached 17. Connors though, played 3 more times to reach to number 17.

So Djokovic has barely lost in the first week of Roland Garros.

The first loss happened vs Coria when Djokovic was just 18 years old and had to retire due to tiredness.

The second came at 2009 when he fell to Kohlschriber in a blowout.

Edit : Federer has 18 QF at Wimbledon. Djokovic and Connors are second most at a slam at 17.

This is what his record looks like at Roland Garros.

Record of quarterfinals AND record of consecutive quarterfinals in a Grand Slam. Hasn't lost before QF since Kohlschreiber in 2009. And he does it in his least successful one.

He is even better in Rome, actually. 17 consecutive quarterfinals between 2007 and 2023. Never lost before a quarterfinal in the city of love. Hopefully makes it 18 this year. Imagine how many RG and how many Rome he'd have had he not played in the same era as Nadal. To think some people still claim Kuerten Wilander or Vilas were better clay courters than him is laughable to me.

You are right. His Rome numbers are massive themselves. 6 Rome titles, 12 Rome finals. Won first in 2008 and last in 2022 with 14 years in between.

Can't really put a "like" on this post as I quite like Marco...
Marco is a phenomenal fitness coach but I got the sense he got to repetitive with Novak in the last year or so. Concentrating more on proper body rotation and strengthening of the muscles than needed long match endurance. We saw significant drop in Novak physical level in tough matches several time last year and in 2024 . More is needed on endurance level.

This is 426 with quite unlikely scenario of Sinner winning both Rome + Geneva (just before RG).
He's 99.999% not playing Geneva, sos. it's practically 427 weeks.

Also, Novak will 100% be the top seed at RG, regardless of what Sinner does.
425 + 1 (geneva) + 2 (RG) = 428 (rafa + rafa + 10)

There are pretty good chances Sinner will get no1 right after RG, leaving Novak at 427 weeks.
no, after RG nole will have 428 weeks. RG is 2 weeks tournament! and it was not ranking update for this week BC even masters are 2 weeks tournaments now. so nole has 423 now and RG ended on 9th april. so that is 5 additionally weeks.
