Someone in mtf mentioned that Djoko will play in Adelaide o_O Is this true?
Yes.
ATP cup.
Adelaide.
AO.
Basically playing all 4 weeks of January.
Unbelievable. Why is he doing it? Any idea? Anyone?

That's actually 4.5 weeks, but still pretty hefty early schedule. Up to 6 matches in 10 days, up to 4 matches in 7, and up to 7 5-setters in 14. He probably won't play until Dubai after that, though, if I was to hazard a guess.

Yeah but I am not sure how wise it is to stack his calendar full of tournaments just before AO. The week before the AO!!
Imagine him reaching the finals of Adelaide. And then imagine those 7 5-set matches at AO.
Don't like that.

Good luck to Serbia in Davis Cup. :) They are playing vs France, my country. Will be hard to root when they play haha

Captain Obvious is here. I just want to say the jacket he is wearing in the top picture is damn sexy. I like it, I like it.

GreenSet will now supply courts for both the AO and Adelaide (ATP), so that's why he's playing there. Kinda like he went with Tokyo before the Olympics.
Okay that's genius.
So instead of practicing at AO, he plays Adelaide.
Gets match practice.
Gets some points.
And while doing that accomplishing the task of getting used to the surface.

2012

The last two years he's put up good results, but there's something about each season that doesn't get them in the top 3. 2015 and 2011 are far and away the best, followed by 2016 (his collapse notwithstanding, the 1st half was incredible.) 2018 follows because of the hugely solid performances at the end of the year, but he still failed to cross the finish line twice (Paris and WTF).

Djokovic played similarly most of this year. Quite solid in slams, but letting small things get to him. The matches against Thiem this year really exemplify that. He was on the verge of winning both matches, yet choked. Moreover, he went out early in both Indian Wells and Miami. There's just something bugging him. It seems like small things are getting to him more and more, which isn't a good thing by any means. I really hope he figures out what's bothering him so much and comes back with the hunger we saw at the AO.
I do not think 2019 is that high level wise though. Results yes.

Schedules are fluid, he may drop Adelaide. And maybe Novak is really gunning to return to #1 and wants to amass as many points as possible? He's got 2,000 to defend at the AO.

Not exactly "body beautiful," but Nole's obviously the most fit of the top players; even over Rafa who's a walking corpse if you go by the injuries and general en oui of playing the game when he feels like it!
Nadal beat Danni in a near 5 hour match.... when was the last time Djokovic outlasted a 10 year younger opponent in a near 5 hour match?

Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on January 7 because their churches have not accepted the Gregorian calendar (which by introduced the Roman Catholic pope Gregory XIII in 1582) and are still using the Julian calendar (which was introduced the Roman ruler Julius Caesar in 46 BC), which is now 13 days delayd behind the Gregorian calendar.

I'm gonna cut and paste something I posted in the general AO thread, since it relates to Novak:

----
ESPN had a Podcast yesterday which was really good. They had Brad Gilbert and Roddick on. Roddick was asked about the court speed at the AO. I'm paraphrasing, but this is essentially what he said (after explaining he has 'people in the know' who have been on Laver Arena):

"From what I'm hearing, the Aussie O will be a medium fast, medium bounce court with a little more of a squishy component. You can slide easier on it that in the past few years. It won't reward the huge servers and it won't reward those who love clay. The man who dominates medium-fast courts is Djokovic and based on the court, I pick him to win it again."

Does he still have it in him? Does he still has that fire?
I mean it's not still pre 2016..He could have played at 80% against Ferrer, Berdych,Nishikori and then kicked Fedal asses in Semis and Finals.

New gen has kicked in..He needs to be dialed in from the quarters or 4th Round onwards. They can push him, drag him into 5 setters and they can even defeat him.

Does he has that fire to push the set onto another Tie breaker and somehow sneak the set.Or if the set has gone, can he still drag the match into the 5 setter.?

Or if hes physically pushed to 5 sets, can he come back and win the next round?

A lot of questions for Nole to answer in the new year.
