Djokovic v Ferrer. Advantage Murray!

With Ferrer and Djokovic battling it out now on Sunday, the winner must now back it up the next day and play the final. The gods are clearly in Murrays favour this year with the wind helping him alot against Berdych today. I hope he can take advantage and seize his first major and relinquish the duck. Do you reckon Murray can do it now? You reckon Djokovic or ferrer will be tired for the final? What are your thoughts?

You see New York used to be a British colony. The secret cabal of puppeteers who still control the city and the Open are all of British decent. Forget past mayors like Giuliani they were just puppets. Murray is the closest thing the kingdom of Britannica will ever get to having to their own champion and just last week the queen gave the signal for the puppeteers to jump into action.

Clearly this was all in their Machiavellian design as they knew the storms were coming and decided to fit in Murrays match then with diabolical glee force an exhausted Nolan or Frrerer to play 2 consecutive days.

My thoughts are that I'm constantly bemused by this argument that Murray only won because of the wind. Was it a divine wind then? If Berdych had won that match, would that have been down to the wind?

If its windy again tomorrow and Djokovic loses, what will that mean for a windy final on Monday? Who will the wind favour? Ferrer or Murray?

Berdych has an extremely high ball toss and takes bigger cuts at the ball especially on the fh side. So yeah naturally the wind would hurt him more.

I think in the wind, it comes down to footwork.

The ability to change last minute, stay light on the feet and have the speed to adjust and move up to balls was key today for Murray.

Murray hit a 77mph slice serve ace today that the wind took, Berdych had his feet planted early and couldn't adjust at all.

I think Ferrer, Djokovic and Murray all have far greater movement than Berdych. The 3 players left all have the ability to cope with the wind best, so if it is windy I can't see it having a major impact on the winner.

Ferrer wins....Super Advantage Murray.

If Djokovic wins....Murray better pray!

Here we go, yet again. Murray apparently will get schooled by pretty nearly every opponent he comes up against. First it was Raonic who was going to tan his hide, then Berdych was going to do the same, now Djokovic. People are quick to forget that last time they met at a Slam, the semis of this year's AO, they played a thrilling, hard-fought 5 setter. Neither blew the other off the court (no puns intended).

This is Murray's tournament

The hard draw that turned easy
His major nemesis Federer losing in the quarters
Playing in high winds against an opponent that was severely affected by the conditions
For once he's playing first and not second, therefore fresher

The stars have aligned, it is his time and djokovic will not begrudge him his moment.

Didn't you see Sean Connery and Fergie there today?

Clearly they were there to deliver the shocking weather to help Murray! He has no chance otherwise :)

I'd say the match getting postponed, actually hurts Murray, as the conditions were certainly favoring Ferrer, now Djoker gets to start fresh, with better conditions supposedly, and will most likely win, presenting a much tougher challenge, as Djoker hasn't spent that much time on court, the back to back won't hurt him.

Love it how Mainad is always indignant at people predicting Murray to lose against the top 3. Start going to those evening irony classes mate! :)

Yeah people seem to forget that Murray as a pretty good record against the top 3. I hope he wins this years US open as how cool would it be having each of the fab 4 each winning a slam in 2012. Would prove what great champions they've been at the top of the game for so very long.

The back-to-back matches won't hurt anyone. Both guys will be fine. Ferrer seems to be able to grind until the cows come home and Novak has already demonstrated that he can get himself together after a previous hard-fought match.

The really funny thing is reading on other threads how Roger is the greatest wind player ever - that his footwork, all court game, and killer slice allow him to make all the adjustments in comparison to ballbashers.

But Murray got lucky.

Well, he has won all of his last matches against the other members of the top 4, has an overall winning H2H against one of them, a 6-6 hardcourt record against another, and has won as many slam matches against the member of the top 3 who is now 4th as the current world number 1.

Maybe his indignance isn't that ironic when one examines the facts?

Murray has a great record against most until it comes to slam finals, but I do hope he wins tomorrow, he's just never shown up on finals day.
