do pros wear underwear?

During last year's Italian Open (?) After winning a tough point Safin pulled down his tennis shorts and was given a penalty (can't find the photo).

Why did he do that? I've seen that before too and he was wearing a white underwear.

I would disagree, as I've seen underwear lines on the women pro tennis players. I've also inspected such skimpy skirts and dresses and haven't seen any built in underwear, although I've seen built-in shorts. I am a huge fan of redundancy in the event of wardrobe mishaps (and women's troubles AKA the crimson tide) and would think that for added security these women pro players wear underwear beneath those skimpies.

I have a aqua blue Nike skirt with built in undies. I mean I usually wear something under it but if I didn't want to, it wouldn't be a total loss. As for those women's troubles, shouldn't they know the relative day for those type of things? I'm surprised Nike hasn't jumped on the athletic undie bandwagon like Under Armour has their thongs in that awesome fabric. There's also some players that you never see lines on.

Huh -- I always thought that's what the cotton crotch was for. (All you men cover your eyes and turn aside now.) I never wear underwear with the built-in shorts. Seems redundant. Plus, less elastic/fewer layers = more comfortable, and less underwear = less laundry. I've never had a mishap; two layers seems like plenty to me.
