This lady has been missing quite sometimes ago. The 2008 season going to end soon and everyone start to prepare and schedule for next year. 2008 may have been a frustrating year injury-wise for Sharapova but she did achieve a lot in what she did play.

Sharapova 2008 BIG Achievements. Here is a list of some of the things she achieved:

1. Wins her first Australian Open in the first Grand Slam of the year in January to have a total of 3 Grand Slams.

2. Wins Doha for the 2nd time but this year Sharapova wins in it's first year as a tier 1

3. First career clay title in Amelia Island

4. Regains the #1 spot in May and has a total of 17 weeks on the top spot

5. From winning the Australian Open - Indian Wells, Sharapova posts 18 straight wins which is her 2nd longest match winning streak

6. Plays Fed Cup for the first time in Israel and wins both her matches in straight sets.

After all do you guys miss her :).

Not only do I not miss her, I wish she'd retire. All that screaming! Whoa! Please retire, Maria. We don't want you and your screaming to come back.

I'm with Rickson she is very annoying! Why does she always look so angry? Nobody else looks like that.

Don't you all can think logically and rationally and do realise that how bored the WTA are without Sharapova on tour to light up the entire season. Without her the WTA totally like a dead fish.

Look without Sharapova on tour, really no one bother much of WTA. No one seems to post a thread to show their care and concern of the WTA progress at all. I mean Sharapova really a queen of heart of everyone attention on WTA. I think i'm right :).

I personally don't. Apart from her shoulder she goes on mental vacations and has lost several matches she should have won or severely underperformed in them (past US open matches against Mary Pierce and Radwanska, '07 aussie Final against Serena, to name a few) and almost lost quite a few others where in my opinion she got lucky to get through. She hits the ball hard from the baseline and shrieks like a banshee and in my opinion she is this generations version of a Williams sister, sporadic periods where she looks phenominal...than shifts gears and looks gawd awful. Now I am not saying she needs to be flawless, but honestly when she steps on court I sometimes feel like I am watching a giant question mark.

Although to Maria's credit she definitely shows much more dedication to the tour than the sisters seem to as of late and her chronic reinjured shoulder is an example as she keeps coming back before she is ready. Also, this past Austrailian Open truly showed what she is capable of, but as I don't really care for her on court personality and screaming....I really don't miss her.

I am no Maria fan but how the heck can you not miss her now. Love her or hate her she is a quality player, and there are hardly any quality players left in womens tennis anymore. Even her biggest haters should admit she is a needed asset on tour at this moment.

Even though I'm not a fan yes I do miss her. She's a great player and multiple slam winner, the more players of her calibre on tour the better as far as I'm concerned.I hope she recovers from her (almost chronic now)shoulder injury and gets back to playing her best tennis, the tour is better off with her in the mix again.

Although I respect her competitiveness, I don't miss her. It was kind of nice to see some new faces emerge this year. Now, when she gets back it will be more interesting. I want to see if 2008 is recorded as a fluky year, or if Safina and Jankovic can keep up the pace with one of the stalwarts back in the mix!

she has a shoulder problem and therefore she took a brake having physio and stuff on her shoulder.

She's no different than all the other female ball bashers

There is one big exception you are forgetting. She has MENTAL toughness, something that sets Venus, Serena, and Maria apart from all the other ball bashing clones. Atleast if we are going to watch error-strewn one dimensional clones going at it, atleast have them have the ability to be tough under pressure rather then repeatedly choke so as that seemingly is the best we can hope for bravo to Maria.

Not even a little. I have been able to enjoy watching matches (relatively) shriek free and am lovin' every minute of it.

I miss Sharapova, she added something to the WTA.

to be honest, the shrieking never annoyed me, and I think she stands out as a top competitor that is good on the eyes and can attract people to the sport.

Not all the women atheletes are sweaty, muscle-glad, or beautiful only with a tractor of makeup and fake lighting, and I think Sharapova defined that.

Plus she was very good at the sport. She could help fill in the power vacuum. What I do mind is that ritual of hers before every serve taking 15 - 20 seconds. And don't let her fault!
