hmmm the poll is pretty much 50/50.

i do miss sharapova, it is a bit weird not seeing her play for so long, but she is so prone to injuries that i knew she would not last all of 2008 without suffering a single injury.

but she is not really consistent, yeh aus open she took down all her opponents in straight sets, she was on a high, and then come wimbledon, she lost to someone ranked outside top 100 in the 2nd round, its really up and down with her.

she shrieks a bit too much, but i find it bearable.

she deserves credit though because she is a fighter on the court, i HATE watching players who just give up without a fight- so boring...

The poll still 50/50. I thought everyone dislikes her but I was totally wrong :). Still a lot of Sharapova supporters on board. Yeah.

My 30-second skip button is very happy she is not playing. I swear I have worn it down to the nubs pressing it constantly during her matches, both on the serving end & the receiving end...

compared to the fist pumping sausage in a dress aka Ivanavic and "The Whiner" Jankovic, Sharapova is missed for sure.

I miss Sharapova because had she been playing to form, the pretender Jankovic would not even smell year end #1.

She needs to come back and take what is rightfully hers.

I miss her competing on the tour and I miss watching her play. Shes prime candidate for #1 with the current state of the WTA.

But I dont miss having to hear her @ss!

I do.

the screaming can be pretty annoying, but the idea of watching women's tennis in general is pretty annoying, so I'd like to at least watch a good player.

What are you talking about? I'd take Ana's body over Maria's anydays. It's bad enough to see skeletons posing all over fashion magazines. I'd rather see healthy looking girls playing tennis.

Ivanovic too thick. Thats not healthy. She need to cut off her meat in order to stay in shape.

Ivanovic is 6' and weighs 152 pounds. That's far from unhealthy, to say the least.

Exactly...Geez, what does she need to weigh to be healthy...130? Oh wait that would than make her to skinny...really people. To me, Ana is gorgeous, sharapova is ok...although I personally think sharapova could stand to put on a couple pounds because she to me is to thin.

How can some of these people say Ivanovic is unhealthy. She is gorgeous.
And better looking than anyone on the WTA tour.

as soon as Ivanovic stops playing tennis, she's going to look like Star Jones pre-stomach surgery.

Don't you all can think logically and rationally and do realise that how bored the WTA are without Sharapova on tour to light up the entire season. Without her the WTA totally like a dead fish.

Why would we miss Sharapova? She plays like a lot of other WTA-players: hit the ball hard from the baseline. I don't see the added value of a Maria Sharapova on the WTA-tour. I do notice a lot of added irritation on my side however, when she plays. I'm glad she isn't playing at the moment. I wish she would retire, but I guess I'll have no such luck.

I guess you seldom watch any of Sharapova matches so most probably you don't know the improvement that she had brought to her game. Rather than just a baseliner, she has more often come to the net does some pretty volley with excellent and accurate power, depth and angles on groundstrokes as well. Between a very powerful first and second serve with killing look to any of her single opponent. If you wish to watch or start to miss her, you may proceed to youtube :).

Hahaha. You're pretty funny there. Well i more prefer on Sharapova USO 2006outfit. She was so stunning elegant sexy and instyle with that outfit. I hope she could wear it once again. I strongly agree with you that she will continue her good run by year 2009 without any injury cursing her.

I don't like her playing style, but I think she brings more consistency and mental strength to the women's tour. She is always a gritty competitor and I do think she is desperately needed in the WTA right now.

However, I really miss Henin's artistic style and her backhand - I don't follow the women's tournaments like I used to when Henin was playing. Can't wait for another one-hander to take over the WTA again.

You guessed wrong.. I know she comes a little more to the net than she used to. And she doesn't volley well at all, her volleys are hidious, she mostly does drive-volleys anyway. No need to watch Youtube for her volleys.

Just curious if you hate her tennis and her screaming so much why would you watch her instead .

I haven't seen a single wta match since Wimbledon!! That's how bad women's tennis is becoming with the decline of Ivanovic, the absence of Sharapova and the retirement of Henin
