done with Head Rip Control

it was nice knowing you. Feels good in my ps85 but after trying it about 4 times it just feels too low-powered. It is a nice string and soft so maybe in a low tension poly hybrid people will like it but I just need a little more oomph. I was booming serves with Gosen 16 and I can't nearly as well with the rip control although slice serves were good. So the search for another multi/syn continues. Maxim Touch might be next.

I have it in my ps85 at 54. I might not be done with it completely. Say the Dunlop 500 Tour which has more power it might be good there.

Power.

Hmm, also somewhat dependant on gauge. If Gosen 16 was good was your RIP also 16?

If it was I nevertheless think of RIP as being about spin not power.

Having said that though I agree - but what are you thinking of to get a bit more power? Maxim? What about (pricey) NXT?

Yes, it is a very low powered string, which is exactly why I like it. Very soft, good touch and feel. If you put a high powered string in that PS85, you might have some control problems.

How does the string play i might try it out how is the String in people opininions?

By the way my friend said it w

I just strung some RIP Control 16 in my racquet and found it to be extremely powerful at 55 lbs. Less power than a multi like Maxim Touch but way more power than a non-multi like Gosen OG Micro. What tension are you guys stringing it that believe this string is LOW powered? What tension should I string it in a 98 sq in racquet to tame the power.

I'm stringing RIP Control 17 in a BLX90 at 60#. Any tighter and the elbow starts acting up. But any poly at 60# and I might as well put the racket down for a few weeks and wait for the swelling to subside.

I normally use it. For me it's a bit like a cross between a poly and a multi. It's soft and lasts ages without a drop in performance but it's low powered and controllable like a poly. Also it doesn't seem to go brittle like standard multis once the've been played for a while.

What tension are you stringing it at? This string is way more powerful than any poly or non-multi synthetic I've used. Maybe I should try it at 60#?

^^^For my LM Mids and i.Prestige mids I have it at about 55lbs. Going to try about 57lbs for my Vantage 95 but I've been as low as 30lbs and it was still playable (trying to find the magic tension point for my Vantage).

For my Head PT167A (a pro stock flexpoint radical MP) I had it at 57lbs and didn't find it too powerful at all.

Definitely doesn't seem as soft or powerful than other multis to me, I had some Yonex Pro 850 at 57lbs in my RDS001MP and that was way more powerful than the RIP control at the same tension.

RIP control feels a bit like a soft poly to me. Current favourite all round string anyway.

I was a bit too harsh and it still feels good. For me comfort is a must and it feels nice. Yeah without a doubt Yonex 850 is more powerful. I've just decided to give others a try and move on from head rip.

These types of comments about RIP Control are the reason I tried it out. I have used poly for many years mostly in full setups, but my wrist and elbow prefer something softer. I was thinking that feel would mean it would be low powered like a poly but soft like a multi. From my experience so far I'm not really seeing how this feels like a poly, but I am enjoying playing with it. Hopefully it maintains playability and tension pretty well over multiple sessions. If it can do this I may make the switch. Is there a multi out there that has less power than Head RIP Control?

Try Head's RIP Intellitour. It's a hybrid, and the "RIP Tour" it comes with is much like RIP Control. The "RIP Feel" is a coreless version of both. I like the RIP Feel in the mains, and the result is very soft feel, great control, and quite low power. I'd be curious how RIP Control users find Intellitour in comparison.

Is Intellitour supposed to be less powerful than RIP Control? So far I am really liking the 16 guage RIP Control.

I love that string! Got it free when I got a clearance AG100 from a local Pro Shop. Feels like an underpowered multifilament but softer than a poly.

I have used Intellitour 17 (used to be my ref string) and Rip Control 17 (used on and off over the years). As a direct comparison of these two strings, I prefer the RIP Control. Better tension maintenence is the reason. Feel/comfort are almost identical, and RIP Control is cheaper.

I have recently started uses RIP Control as a cross in my BLX90 (instead of Pacific Poly force). String movement with the KGut is almost zero, and it is cheaper and more comfy.
