Djokovic fooled Federer by magically pushing the finish line a little further, and ended up narrowly winning the race.

Djokovic should have done what would have been less painful and shut the door at 4-2, and then served it out two games later, instead of letting Federer get close to the finish line just to end up not actually crossing it. He had chances in the 1st two return games, mugged it up in the 1st on second serve returns, and finally got the break at 3-2. He then mugged it up again in his service game, allowing Federer back in the match.

Watch the trophy ceremony. If anything, I understated his words. Fed explicitly said that he doesn’t want any plates; he wants “that gold thing,” referring to the trophy. He was visibly shaken and kept repeating a nonsensical answer to every question. It’s obviously not easy to give thoughtful responses in that situation, but he sounded like someone having stage fright. The full match replay, including the ceremony, is still on the ESPN app if you don’t believe me. And I’m not trying to troll here. Nothing I said is false or even a dig at Federer. Everyone has their faults.

And I really have to chuckle at some of the trolling about Federer's acceptance speech. He couldn't have been more gracious under the circumstances.

And in the press conference after it seemed like he felt the frustration, but had already compartmentalised it. Notice his light hearted aside to journalists right at the end of the English language part of his press conference after the final.

Paul Annacone talked about how Federer just doesn't get "caught up" by disappointing losses. Its one of things that makes him slightly unique in terms of how quickly he can recover.

Federer didn't choke. Fans take the choke excuse to make it as if outcome is only about their fave's actions. It's not. Novak played below par but still managed to be better player in most important moments. Tennis is not basketball, we all know how the scoring system works. Accept it and you'll get over this loss.
