So Djokovic is Ultron and Federer is Thanos.

What Marvel villains are Rafa and Mury?

If everyone was into the same stuff, that would be boring.

You’re boring.

Why don’t you ever say interesting things like “get a lobotomy” or “I’m going to run over your cat with my tractor” or something?

Always in neutral.

Run over something, or someone, once in a while.

But makes sense. Doesn't need to talk sh*t. Just acts upon it.

What an awesome movie. My favourite Natalie Portman movie of all time!

I am your nemesis.

But then you will have to be a pedophile and that's just plain sad :(

Quite possibly my favourite Gary Oldman movie too!

I’m glad you put this visual image out there, it helps me imagine @Hitman with a bit more mirth and levity.

And possibly, stuck taking care of a little plant dutifully.

No Roger's the Cap.
Old school. Stubborn. Kind and compassionate and his friend Stan is the Winter Soldier.
Coincidentally the actor who plays the Winter Soldier is named Stan Sebastian.
Captain America is named Steve Rogers :eek:
Coincidence??

Thank you Federer.

Agree if Thanos was like a bad rash.;)

Yeah that movie is gold. Pure classical cinema for all to enjoy and that over the top psychopathic performance by Gary and the vulnerable yet fierce Mathilda are the two best things about the movie beside the great soundtrack.
The more I think of it the more I feel that the movie is not about Leon at all. It's Mathilda's story with Leon the Professional being a chapter of her story which is picturised.
I am huge fan of this theme music.

There is always a contract. Always....

Do offseasons in the hitman industry have unemployment coverage?

And since we’ve embarked on this:

John Wick
Leon
Cobra
Jason Bourne

Which one?

I know obviously you like Cobra but maybe the image could do with a bit of a refresh?

Branding is very important nowadays, I know a good print company in China that does business cards.

Ah, you enjoy strings. I have something from the Gundam universe that might work for you.

The story is the usual Japanese arc of best friends torn apart by an ideology divide. Duty, responsibility etc. If you understood Japanese it’s practically tear jerking, in a way only strings can be.

The opening music is very nice. Although I have to admit it has too much of lyrics like most Japanese songs and because I can't understand the lyrics I can't relate much to what's happening. But I like the music very much. The pain in the voice is quite noticeable.
I have been listening to this one very much recently.

Yip, tricky by North American and English speaking norms to look for meaning without some cultural reference, so one doesn’t often try.

Diversity is a great thing as long as its in the same language, colour, style, humour and denim.

The interesting thing is by continental European and Eastern norms, the idea of a language and cultural difference is hardly relevant in making that effort, everyone has to live next to each other.

People don’t talk about diversity, they just go about it.

Here’s a good example you might be able to relate to - I doubt anyone in the audience knows a word of Hindi yet they’re all intimately familiar with the same song.

That is quite an interesting point you make about continental Europe and Eastern countries.
Most of my face to face interaction with foreigners have been in the Himalayas on the different treks I have undertaken.
There it is very difficult to find any conclusive evidence of how much people from different countries are involved in the culture of India because these tourist people are quite the fanatics of the culture and tradition of India and hence don't represent the majority of their respective countries. They want to know about everything. French, Germans, Ukranians, Romanians, British, American all alike. All of them are so much into it.

But I will take your word for now for 2 clear reasons:
1) It is consistent with the stereotyping of the West as the one dimensional material world with the stench of Hollywood-esque sins all over it :D and the East being it's opposite.
Although the east is becoming like the west with each passing day.
2) I believe what the citizen of the world says.

All you need do is travel my friend. The world is more connected than media and news would have us think.

It hasn’t become famous recently, it’s been famous for all this while.

I grew up in a tiny little country called Kuwait, hearing it well back then. You can imagine my surprise three decades later hearing it being sung in Chinese in some karaoke bar.

Looks like I am totally ignorant of my own country's music popularity.

This song and the "Disco dancer" one were quite a rage during their time and they are somewhat recognizable even today. But I don't think the generation behind me know one word of them.
However, the movie itself to which these two belong are a matter of ridicule and meme mostly.

Have you watched other movies or heard songs from India? I am curious to know our reach.

Death Note is absolutely brilliant till that particular event after that not so much.
Shhh... Spoilers.

Yeah I agree with you absolutely, infact 90% of fandom agrees with you. There was a reason given by Tsugumi Ohba in which he stated due to Absolute success of Death note season1, there was immense pressure on him by Mad House studio to write down second season. He wanted to take his time but Sheesh deadlines. That's why after that event when 2nd season came it went downhill. Also that guy was and is still the favourite character in Death Note (2nd all time anime fav. only after Goku), it was bound to go downhill.

The Same reason is given by Naruto's writer Masashi Kishimoto, the reason war arc ( Right after Naruto peaked in Pain arc ) was so much rushed was his chronic spine disease and pressure to continue the storyline week after week.

Anyways enjoy this -

A large part of it is just geography.

In Europe and Asia they have all these great cultures smushed right beside each other - language, food, style, architecture, political spectrums, fashion etc. You just grow up being familiar with a broad variety of things not really focusing too much on where this or that comes from.

When you hear a different accent, you don’t automatically assume the person speaking it isn’t educated. And when you hear a whole other language it doesn’t feel peculiar at all.

Its my view people should socially feel free to pick and choose bits from whatever culture they please.

Over in North America people are just too isolated and sensitive when it comes to culture and diversity.

Here’s another interesting video for you and @Raining hopes.

In China a popular form of recreation for the elderly are them dancing in the parks, on the byways etc. They’ll just about dance to anything. It’s a social thing they’re doing for exercise.

I personally think it’s rather lovely on a whole number of levels but perhaps at this point I’ve got nothing Canadian left in me, so what do I know?

Har Har. The first 8 years of my life were in Kuwait. Born in 1975 I grew up on a steady influence of Amitabh Bachan and Sashi Kapoor from their heydays.

The tragedy of it all is after relocating to Canada I lost touch with Indian influences.

You hear all this talk in North America from the left celebrating diversity and recognizing it, successful immigration and whatnots, but really, it’s the opposite.

The first thing people are supposed to do to blend into North America is roll their R’s the fashionable way, and wear the same crappy T-shirt of the local baseball/hockey/football team. You forget there’s a world out there.

For us tennis lovers in North America we’re used to being told in hundreds of subtle ways it isn’t even a sport, some European thing hardly worth our attention.

It’s only after relocating back to Asia, and Hong Kong/China that I’m seeing and living in diversity again.

The Chinese women dancing in the video above wouldn’t talk about India or Indian things, they don’t need to.

They’re doing something just a little bit Indian.

It’s just another ordinary day for everyone.

I would have actually posted all that inside a spoiler tag if I knew how to do. @ak24alive can u tell me how to add spoiler tags?

Oh, you guys liked Death Note?

Psycho Pass if you like the subject of morality/punishment. Very slick sci-fi. 2 seasons.

Made in Abyss if you like adventure and discovery. 13 episodes.

91 days if you want a good old fashioned revenge story. One season

Erased if you enjoy a thoughtful whodunnit.

Four really good anime’s from recent years.

Yep watched other 2 except 91 days and Abyss. I was on a roll on watching anime last semester, messed up my exams so bad. So I had to cut it down. I am planning to watch 91 days just after my exams are over. I don't think I would b into Abyss, seems childish to me, however I have to give it a shot since it is recommended by a fellow anime mate on a tennis forum :)

You are basically speaking of the golden age of Bollywood.

Well even our culture is changing completely.I occasionally write poems in my native language and it requires me to be very observant.

Indians have lost their innocence to be honest. We really had no idea how to deal with the onset of internet connectivity. It came too fast and within 6 years we went from a Nokia black and white phone being a big thing(2005) to Smart phones being in everyone's hand. I don't think we have had the time and maturity to review things before adopting it from the western culture. This has led to complete misunderstanding of the western way of life.( Note I am not against Rap nor its use in Hindi songs but what I would like is some goddamn creativity if you're writing something called lyrics)

For Example :

Have ever heard the song Awara ? It was a Hindi song so popular in Russia and China that people still listen to it.

There is these lines:

Dunia men Tere tree ka ya takdeer ka mara Hoon ,
Awara Hoon.

Translated to :

O world am I a victim of my own fate
Or a victim of your soul breaking ways

Now with onset of Rap culture this is the lyrics of one of the popular songs today:

Aaj Blu hai Pani Pani (times 5)

Air din bhi sunny sunny( times 5)

Translated to
Today the water is blue(times 5)
And the day is sunny( times 5)

With half naked ladies walking about doing nothing.

Note that it doesn't mean we don't have great songs even now we do but the above ones are most dominant.

Us tennis folk need to stick together, regardless of where we fall on the Fedalovic spectrum.

Made in Abyss is one of those ones where it seems childish on the surface but very quickly develops dark undertones. Personally I don’t much care for childish cartoons myself, it caught me by surprise.

If you enjoy adventure/fantasy as a genre - Lord of the Rings, Indiana Jones, Chronicles of Narnia, Enid Blyton etc - you’ll like it.

Totally relate to blowing huge gobs of time on anime. At the moment I’m making my way through Gintama. It’s a guilty pleasure.
