I think the broadcast was originally for UK and TTC bought it. We're suffering here...
Those same commentators covered the Canada, Madrid and Paris Masters for Tennis Channel.
I think their names are Doug Adler and Robbie Keonig (Please don't quote me on the names because I am not sure).
"54 lbs in the mains (Natural Gut), 52 lbs in the crosses (Luxilon)", I mean what commentator would give you this stuff. I liked the commentating aswell, but was a little angry when they switched to "Center Court with Chris Myers".
You're not kidding--their knowledge is just way above par for the course in commentating. As well, I was livid when they didn't show the Ferrer match and went to Center Court re-run. I mean, I feel like Wilander and Hewitt live in my home I have seen them so much this month! (But, it is better than nothing).
You are so right. I thought that they warranted a thread. They knew about Roger's strings, tension, etc. Those guys are dead on. Much better than Justin and Arias. Reminded me of Madrid last year. Not sure who the Robbie/Robby guy is commenting--but he is top notch!
That's where Hewitt's been, I am living with John McEnroe and Max Mirnyi " Let's go fishing" for well over a year. As much as we complain, I still watch the stuff, hoping to pick up on something new.
How sad is that?
Well, then we should start a club, because I find myself in the sad group as well.
Pretty much all the British commentators are great.
I did not hear this commentary but being a european I do watch a lot of UK chanels and the UK guys are as precise and as informed as you can get anywhere in the world, and not only tenniswise. I am a snooker fan for example and former pro players are always commentating from Uk and I adore their knowledge, immediately after they see the cue ball position they are going to tell you what is the best possible shot and 99% of the time it is the one pro player will choose as his shot. Same goes for football and for every other sport I watch and have a privilege of having UK guys commentating.
These guys weren't British, Koenig is South African and Adler is American. I do agree with what you have said though, just clearing up the OP.

Koenig's voice is very familiar, he has commentated on many matches and is definitely one of my faves.
Not all the British guys are great though, Barry Cowen and especially Andrew Castle (both former ATP players) get a bit annoying.
I like Peter Flemming (McEnroe's ex-doubles partner) and John Lloyd the best, they seem to be on Sky in England a lot.
Apart from football, you have idiots like andy gray and alan green which have so much bias that if you made a bomb out of it it would have enough potential energy to blow up the whole universe and kill chuck norris.
You are entitled to opinion of course. But I doubt you had a chance to hear as much commentators as I did, sincerly. Local guys, British guys, US guys, Germans and many others which I am forced to listen to all the time. I can tell you one thing - you can always find flaws but compared to all others British are very lucky and as usually - they have no idea about it. They are so critical of their own all the time that they are almost blind to everything else.
On the whole I agree, but you can never get away with being totally idiot free!
Man, when did TTC air this?? I checked through my program guide and all they had was the usual crappy interview and travel programs plus repeats of the Dubai Final, Outback Seniors Tour and classic Grand Slam matches.

I thought they said 52 pounds main natural gut 56 crosses luxilon. Then they continued to question why he would use such tensions.

I agree 100%, they really deserve some props. Doug and Robbie do the TTC commentating for all the Masters Series and they do a great job throughout. They're very technical, concise, and to the point. They don't ramble on and on during points, and they know their tennis. They seem to turn even a boring match into something worth watching. After hearing them, when I tune in to ESPN or FSN coverage, it's a huge step down, like from a
Porsche to a Kia. It's a shame not many people know about them, only the ones with TTC.
:idea:ESPN should listen, and hire them for the Slams. I bet more people would actually tune in to tennis.
