The Day Roger Federer Won 35 Consecutive Points on Serve ● Part 2
It looks as if after a mini slump from 2017 Montreal to 2017 WTF and IW18 to AO19, Federer is slowly regaining some good form now. I hope he builds on this and do well for the rest of season. I just want to see him at 2017 AO - Wimby level without any injury problems for the rest of this year.
Are you forgetting Shanghai and Basel 2017.Ditto!
Hope he stays injury free and concentrate less on off courts matters. There is unfinished business like one more USO/WTF and some other titles that will take him to 110.

Did you notice the lack of grunts in this match on serve from Fed? Or was I not paying attention? Because when I did pay attention, I did not hear a sound. When Fed plays silently, he's most dangerous.Really good match against Stan. Stan moved averagely, hit the FH well, and served quite well. He served 73% first serves on, top 6 in his hard court career. When Stan serves 70%+ on first served, he’s 8-3 on hard courts, the losses coming in 2007 and 2008 to Murray and 2011 to Jarkko.
1. Federer FH and BH depth was consistent all night. He was camped on that baseline all night 2017 style.
2. Tried to take BH early plenty of times (2017 style) and just failed to connect. Good signs, though.
3. That second serve had an awful lot of kick to it. The kicker to Stan’s BH on the AD side killed Stan as it always does.

So When is Uniqlo releasing that awesome Federer 100 win T-shirt ???????? do you guys know ?
Roger press conference after the match with Stan:
Being the speaker must be the best job. You don't have to worry about parties or policies, you just call your bunch of 650 or so overgrown children to order every so often and get to put your own witty remarks on your country's permanent parliamentary record whenever you please.
Fed mentioned by real politicians while on the job, but can't get a say on the ATP
Didn't watch but I've noticed Roger does get grunty when he's angry at himself for a poor performance or having physical problems. A quiet Roger is a happy Roger.Did you notice the lack of grunts in this match on serve from Fed? Or was I not paying attention? Because when I did pay attention, I did not hear a sound. Next: Federer hosts the G8 summit in his house in Switzerland.
True. I'm not saying his service has been totally silent on 2nd serve, but it's been quieter than when he was struggling.Didn't watch but I've noticed Roger does get grunty when he's angry at himself for a poor performance or having physical problems. A quiet Roger is a happy Roger.
Unfortunately, his perfect start to 2018 had zero bearing on the rest of his season, so I won't get my hopes up.2019 is the 8th time Fedr is 12-1 to start. He reached at least one slam finals in 6 of 7 years previously (only year missing was in 2002, before he made his first slam finals), winning slam(s) in 4 of those 6 years.
2019... one can hope?

17-0 but went downhill so quickly after that first loss.
If the hand injury was really that bad, I wish he would've just taken some time off.Fair point.
But...
Fedr was crap most of IW18. It stung to see him lose IW18, but he was lucky to get MPs against Delpo bc he could've easily lost in straights with that form. He later revealed long after grass season that he injured his hand early doors on grass, and it took him months (up until Shanghai18-ish against Nishi, then at Bercy18 against Djokr) to find some of his form back. Early 2019 loses out to early 2018 bc he won AO18 but Fed's in better form than early 2018 atm, imo. We'll see. At least I don't think he'll do worse than IW18-Shanghai18 for the same time frame this year.

Contracts can't obligate players to participate if injured.Agreed. But Fed was stuck with a lifetime contract with Halle, then with WB18 coming up in 2-3 weeks, THEN with the ATP/ITF's genius calendar scheduling of USO18 (a 2nd slam!) less than 6 weeks later (and 2 masters in between ). Hindsight is always 20/20, but he would always wonder 'what if' during his time off had he taken it after Stuttgart18. Not to mention the fact that he hasn't played for ~3 months before playing Stuttgart18. Had the hand injury happened around IW/MIA time, it would've been an ez choice.
The slam calendar is dumb;
end of January AO,
16 weeks later RG,
3 weeks later WB,
then 6 weeks later USO.
LOL!
Noone has mentioned anything definitive, but I seem to remember Federer making the comment that at some point the logo will come back to him. Considering that he probably didn't mean when he is retired, and there is not much time from his career left, I assume that he expects it to happen a certain period after he and Nike parted ways. Unfortunately there are no leaks of any Uniqlo items with it that could hint at that happening very soon, so I don't know when that will happen.
Another finals. Hope Fed dials it in on Sunday!
